    Good loops

You'd probably add this place to the Auberge list if you get a chance to stay there.... Auberge du Lac-à-l'Eau Claire. Great spot

Great thank you. Will have to check that spot out for sure!

  2. What’s your top 3 favourite PQ loops?
While there are so many beautiful well groomed trails throughout the province curious what your top 3 would be.

2nd question what would be your top 5 auberge (accommodations to stay at)

My favourites are below in no particular order.

    1. Gaspe especially the top, along the St Lawrence, also the middle cache, murdochville.

    2. Val d’or to Chibougamau down the 93 and across the 83 clova, lac Fallion back to Val d’or.

    3. Mont Laurier up 13 to Parent down to Kanawta to lac Tareau to back to Mont Laurier.

Top 5 auberge in no particular order.

    Mekoos

    Rabasaka lodge

    100 lacs

    Forestel

    lac Blanc

Good choice. The guys on here have been there done that for the most part. If they are all telling you something it is worth listening.

It's a long day but the Gouin resoirvior is a adventure you won't ever forget,  300 plus miles from Val Dor. The Walleye dinner is special.

I have seen this place on the map and wondered about it. Is it far north of 83 and is it well marked? Nice place to stay?

Done that stretch, 2 days at -40F.  Expect sleds that won't start. A few extra stops to warm up. And anyone coming with less than a high windshield, tell them to stay home.

Guantlets a must.  One of those mornings at Chibig there were a lot of sleds that would not start. A lot.

Oh no, we have great gear, new sleds but zero windshields…..going to fly by the seat of our pants here.
Thank you to all for taking the time to post your advice. It’s appreciated!

  6. We have a trip planned next week leaving from Labannik in Ville Marie to Val D’or for a night then straight up 93 to Chibougamau then back the same route the next day. Chibougamau has been on our list to do and we were really looking for to it until we saw the weather forecast of -29c on the way up and -25c on the way back without the windchill factor. It’s approx 450km from Val-d’Or to Chibougamau one way.
Since we have never ran 93 north before it would be appreciated if the experienced members could say nay or yeah. Is this too remote to travel with these temperatures? If so what would be some other options? Appreciate your advice.

    Thank you so much.

Easy ride from the Delta to KM31 so you can do some exploring on your way.   The Delta is a nice hotel, it has good parking and a restaurant onsite.  Saguenay Bill is from NH and a great ambassador for the region.

Thank you. Has anyone been to the Delta in the last few days? How are the conditions?

Got back from a week in Quebec Wednesday.   Started at the Roquemont and rode up to the Delta, over to KM31 and back TQ 3 and the Richelieu.    Probably 4 feet of snow along the trails.   No dirt on the trails.   Even Quebec City had good coverage.   The season is still going strong there.

Wow, thank you for this information. I heard the delta is a good place to start from. I met a older gentleman named Bill at the Toronto snowmobile show a few years ago that was endorsing this property. He was not French but from Maine if I remember correctly.I will check to see the trail conditions maybe that would be a great starting point.

Ty again for all the information here!

    Starting to plan next trip.

    1. Has anyone stayed there, good place?

    2. Has anyone started a saddlebag trip from there? Thoughts?

They do have the best Club sandwich in all of Quebec!

Great place. Trailered to lac Blanc last Tuesday for a 4 day ride. Comfortable rooms, food is delicious( especially trout clubhouse).

We made a nice loop, to kanawata first night, 83 west through parent to 100 lacs (another great spot) then down to auberge lac tareau then a 1/2 day back to La Blanc.

Not many options with the 5 day trip. All depends on how many KM per day. For example your first day if you go most direct to Lebel from Forestel it is less than 200km. So you need to find something to add some KM. Also that run from Val d’or to Seneterre then to Lebel is really fast trail.

Gas in Seneterre and in Lebel. I have never stayed in Lebel but there is at least one place there but you need to verify its open.

Maybe if you get to Lebel early you can gas up and backtrack just a bit out of town the way you come in and ride up the 396 trail direction Matagami. Ride up half way to the warming shack there then turn around and head back to Lebel. This all depends on your group.

From Lebel to Chibougamau very straightforward (literally on the railbed) Should be gas in Demaraisville  (pay attention) it should be a short trail on your right headed up to Chibougamau. Takes you to the Depanneur there. Then is gas in Chapais then on to Chibougamau.

    Gas stop Desmaraisville

Thank you for taking the time to post this information iceman, I appreciate it. I know you have been on most of the trails in PQ is there another itinerary or area you would suggest for a 5-6 day saddle bag trip. We did Gaspe 2 winters ago and really enjoyed that as well!
