  1. Thanks for the update. When is the lepine trail expected to be groomed?
  2. I was out in Labelle Park yestesday and tried 3 different areas as far as Mt Laurier but kept having to turn back with trees down. Like them I got a whopping 20 miles! I found these pictures on the Vallee de la Nation site and show the state of some areas. Mike
  3. Trails not ready yet in Mt Laurier. Lots of snow but trees down every where and groomers were no where to be seen, tried to get in to Labelle Park at Salette, ND du laus and Mt laurier but got shut down by the trees across every where. Wont be long though :)
  4. I get snow alerts from the ski hill and this week had 2 of 37 and 17 from memory and ha some in past 2 weeks as well. Usually if you go to thier web site and check conditions it will show you snow accumalations While this is for the resort its fair to day that the surrounding area likely will have recieved similar.
  5. In addition to these devices don't forget about Air Medic service, I know alot of members here subscribe and I have as well. Hope you never need it.
  6. I get snow alerts from Mont Sainte Anne, near Quebec City and they reported 35 cm yesterday, tuesday they showed 17 cm. Fire up the groomers i'm coming!
  7. Mid Range I will unload as soon as I see enough snow to ride Once I turn off of the highway and see enough to go i unload, if they are still using it then I may have to go up to the Pensive, Hope there is gas at the old Macdault but I carry extra any ways so should be good. Will report back on the weekend. Come along if you want. Mike
  8. Im going to have a look at one of these this winter, similar but i think it has more to offer. http://www.inreachcanada.com/inreach-overview/
  9. These forcasters should be fired. Checked today and only 10-15 :( Likely will still try the Lepine Road, should be enough for the slides anyways
  10. clova is suppose to get a dump at the end of the week, 40-50 plus snow throughout. Hope this happends. Plan on riding up this weekend.
  11. I stayed there various times with the different owners. First owner was an old gal and not the best attitude I found. Last owner's wife was fine and fun to chat & have a few with. her husband is another story and likely why most didint like the place. They charged a lot for the gas on purpose. They didn't have access to refilling all the time and new most sledders could get by with less and by charging a lot people would be dis couraged which they were. I think they should have just posted a sign of 10 liter maximum and be fairer with the gas. All the same, things are looking up!
  12. I bought the 2007 yamaha because if you read the reviews it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. That was the only machine i've owned that left me stranded outside of Rimuski with a blown chain case. Remmber the first year issues with them as well regarding the chain case, their terrible darting, some had rear shock issues on the GT's, bushings, donuts needing to be replaced, no hand warmers etc. Just to say the year after they had addressed many of these issues but i bailed on it. I traded it and went for the mach z 1000. One of the best sleds I ever owned. Great power, handling, available accessories etc. Never a problem but I guess I was lucky as we know the rep these had. All to say is yes Cat had some issues with the first year sled, I guess my buddy and I were exceptions and had no issues to keep us from running all winter. Have they been addressed. You bet and as one of thea earlier posts said, its the engine and power that will keep you smiling. If you don't want that power i would suggest the ski doo 1200 gsx se i belive is the model. Great creature comforts, decent engine and lots of features for touring and a large dealer network for when you need it. Mike
  13. I have the 2012 xf turbo. Only was able to put 1500 miles onit last year. Prior to that I had the 2011 ext turbo and a 2009 Yamaha attack. The cats ride much better in my opinion than the Yamaha. I bought the Yamaha for the same reason you do, long trips and reliability. Fuel is about the same between the 2 sleds but will depend on how you ride. The new cats had some issues but are suppose to be sorted out for this winter. Mainly the reverse. Mine went at the end of the season but when it fails all it means is you have no reverse. Still on original belt. Some owners were having issues but again i think they sorted out the alignment issue for this. The rear tunnels are now changed and this should prevent the ice build up that many of these were experienceing last year. The Crosstour is a nice model. I believe it has normal shocks and not the air shocks. The air shocks were not valved well and ride quality was effected and unless you are really into harsh conditions dont need the air shocks imo. I've had many cats and none have left me in the woods. The fun factor of these turbos is really high plus you can do some easy ecu changes for wild power gains. My regular buddy has the same sled as me and his has the programs and fuel economy was the same but lots more fun! He only blew one belt last winter with about 2000 miles. These are now 2nd year sleds and II would not hesitage to get one. I really like the doo 1200's and many of their models but they just wont keep up to a turbo. Hope this helps Mike
  14. I would like to sled up from Mt Laurier or Maniwaki area. Nice 2 day ride or 3 if you go the long way by Chibougamou. anyone interested in that idea let me know. Mike
  15. Just checking a few towns and see Matane & murdockvile are showing 20cms next wednesday. That being said I will believe it when i see it but at least we can dream.
  16. Super job, its all appreciated.
  17. For anyone interested i see they have a Groupon deal for this winter. While its nice to go see, i still perfer the old fashioned lodge with heat :) http://www.groupon.com/deals/ga-hotel-de-glace?utm_medium=email&utm_source=channel_getaways-deals&sid=11271444&user=39e0b6006d8f51f35e638187e18fbbed6f543e07aba25fde082b92a66b83cae0&utm_campaign=11271444&s=body&d=ga-hotel-de-glace&p=1&c=deal_button Hopefully this link works Mike
  18. I came across this, just wondering if anyone has any experience with them. they seem like a good product with various options and the ability to pay for the months of service you want. I think over some of the other simialr units out their you have the option of typinh what you want. Let me know. Mike http://www.inreachcanada.com/inreach-overview/
  19. If anyone is intersted in sledding up from Mt Laurier or Maniwalki area let me know. Nice trails with a coupe of routes to go. Mike
  20. hoping to make it this year, likley just myself
  21. I think its just not updating the site any longer. If you click the local sites such as Gaspe they are still updating and showing open. No dobt with the weather in the last week and this week coming it will be ending in many areas.
  22. I had an 06 apex and an 07 attack. My last 2 sleds are 144" cats. Much prefer the longer track for ride. Even though the trails are usually great in Quebec i find that there is always a section that the groomer forgot and i find the long track runs smoother. In addition i find the longer tack sleds offer more rear tunnel room though the Yammi's less useable space as the exhuast is there. I believe as you indicated they have the tipped up rails which should make them preform well. Longer tracks sleds are usually better off trail as well in case you miss a corner! My .02cents Mike
  23. this was the 5 as noted above inland was good
  24. just came back this past weekend. Unless they get snow the RDL to Rimuski is thin with bare areas. We left on the thursday from RDL and it was thin and then it warmed up and rained. On our way back we had issues just east of Rmuski in the Mt Joli area so we didnt ride that section sunday but word is its not good. It has gotten colder but on the weekend the rivers & brooks were opening up creating Havoc in this section. East of Matane and the interior was great though. Just need to pick your starting place with care.
