  1. Haven’t seen anything yet, nothing on the Federation website. Hopefully it’s it’s the same weekend and not later in the winter during one of the prime weekends. l will avoid planning any trip when the free weekend is on.
  2. I entered in a one night stay for Feb. 2024 and the $130 is what was posted. Been expecting Gaspe rate to maybe increase fair bit this winter as they have been fairly cheap compared to other regions of Quebec and things were busy there last winter.
  3. Playing around on the interactive map today planning some trips and discovered there is a new motel at St Adelme right behind the church and clubhouse. Brand new construction and the reservation link is taking winter bookings. Great to see a new option in the Gaspe as seem to be losing some of the old regular options. Will give another option to the Matane area and should be better snow conditions for early and late season lodging vs the shoreline in Matane. Reasonable rates also at $130.00 a night CAD. Does anyone know if the clubhouse is open 7 days a week and how late in the evening. Have stopped in there to eat but usually for lunch. https://www.motel-marquis.com/ The accommodation icon is on the map.
  4. Yes Double Tree has a large lot, will be 20 -30 trucks/trailers park there, most for the week while people are on a saddlebag trip. About a 10 minute drive from the hotel to Old Quebec City. If any in your group haven’t seen Old Quebec City it would be a great spot to spend the evening of your arrival day. Hotel Roquemont in St Raymond that Iceman suggested is also poplar spot for people starting a saddle bag trip. We spend two weeks in this area last winter, one week with a group of guys and another with my wife. This winter will likely do the following 5 day loop with another group of guys going counter clockwise. Day 1: Start from #1, Double Tree, Quebec City or Roquemont, St Raymond to #4 Auberge Eva Day 2: Auberge Eva riding around west end of Lac St Jean, across the top to #8 Otis Nature Center Day 3: depart Otis ride through Mont Valin to #10 Hotel Pelchat via the Pelchat trial, #9 Day 4: depart hotel Pelchat, head west taking ferry across Saguenay river, head north up to #14 Delta or someplace that area Day 5: back to the trucks Iceman had a good trip report last winter riding around the Lac St Jean/ Saguenay area. He maybe able to post a link to it. Will give you some ideas of the various lodging options. l really like staying at some of the outfitters and lodges when possible. Only problem is many of them aren’t so flexible for cancellations vs regular hotels. If travelling with 4 people or less can often wing it, get larger groups need to book ahead in many areas. My wife and l spend two weeks last summer touring NH, Vermont and the Adirondacks on our Spyders. New Hampshire is a beautiful state. One of the best days of riding we ever had was big loop in NH, Mont. Washington was an interesting ride.
  5. I would suggest starting at Quebec City at the Double Tree by Hilton. Shorter drive for you and can make a great 4-5 day loop from here. Beautiful ride from here up the #23 to either Saguenay or Lac St Jean. Can give hotel suggestions if this starting point is of interest.
  6. Any tech savvy people here know if it is possible to over lay my inReach map routes onto the FCMQ or App sled map? Be great If there was a way to do it.
  7. Yes, Groomer posted it on the Quebec Rider Facebook page. Fee has been discontinued.
  8. You planning on doing the Cabot Trail? lf taking the ferry from Port Sydney to Port a Basque NFLD the night crossing and renting a cabin is the best use of time. Wife and l both ride Spyders and have been to the Maritimes 3 times since getting them. Went to Newfoundland once in 2020.
  9. I’m the Gaspe and NB last week. Good snow in Gaspe but nothing like last year. For snow l would say northern NB the best. Start in Edmunston and head for Moose Valley, spend night at Serpentine lodge and or Island Lake lodge. Could start from RDL possibly. This week started Tuesday from Shawinigan. Up to Windigo then Otis Nature. Snow is thin around Alma and east end of lake. Very little in the fields. Yesterday rode Mont Valin area, rough choppy trails all day. Paid the surcharge and worst day we had this year. Riding 373 today north of Lac St Jean, trails are perfect but not a lot of snow even this far north. Won’t survive warmer weather very long. For scenery l would vote Gaspe, for snow conditions New Brunswick
  10. Not sure if we left LaCache before or after you guys. Was a rocket ship ride down to New Richmond. Perfect with that bit of fresh snow. l meant to take the orange 150 trail but skidded pass the junction, don’t know how when only doing the speed limit.😜 Beautiful ride all the way to PLC. I love the trail between Carleton Ser Meur and PLC.
  11. We arrived in Murdochville tonight. Started from Pointe a La Croix this morning. Trails from there all the way to LaCache were excellent. Chic Choc trails was choppy and rough. Snocross course for 10 km around Mont Lyall where it drifts. Disappointing ride being it was such a beautiful sunny day.
  12. Figure Mike won’t be back until later today so l will post the map showing where Moose Valley is. (The blue ballon) Nice lodge, 5 or so cabins. If not staying there great place for lunch and gas. Gas was always cash only in the past.
  13. We may cross paths next week. We will be in the Gaspe for a 3 day loop Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday next week. Sunday night Quality Inn Campelton, NB Monday Copper Hotel Tueday night Quality Inn, Matane Wednesday night, Interprovincial , Pointe e le Croix 2 more days in New Brunswick. would be great to meet some people from the forum.
  14. Is the clubhouse open every day for lunch this winter?
  15. Yes online is the only option now. Print off the paper copy and carry with you. No more stickers for day passes. Same here in southern Ontario, no snow. Majority of Quebec looks good and the 14 day forecast also looking positive.
  16. I email the client service address last week and received no response. Send another to info@fcmq.qc.ca address and received a response couple hours later.
  17. Hi Iceman, Would hotel Drakkar have similar snow amounts as you. Thinking about staging from there for a trip March 6 to the 12th. The 14 day forecast looks like some more snow and colder temperatures. Do you think we should be good to start from Reggie’s. Have never stayed there so not sure what the trail is like getting out of there.
  18. It’s 120 miles Moose Valley to Pointe e le Croix. Last year we started in Edmunston which is 40 miles from Moose Valley. Did the couple loops north west of Moose Valley which are real nice rides then up to Pointe e Le Croix. Real easy day ride. Doing the same trip in a couple weeks. Will do a three day loop in the Gaspe then back into NB for 2 days to finish up.
  19. Assuming you meant Amqui. 85 miles from Moose Valley to Amqui 105 miles from RDL to Moose Valley taking 85 trail through Deglis to NB
  20. Friends are in the Gaspe now. Yesterday they started down 595 from the north shore and came across a stuck groomer and had to turn around. Saw pic this morning on FB showing 595 South was really drifted. Said hoping to get the groomer through today. Poor clubs having to deal with drifts, down trees and stuck groomers. Always amazes me what a wonderful system Quebec has with the majority of the week being done by volunteers.
  21. We start from from Mon Joli Hotel in Mont Joli. Reason being you leave your truck keys with them. If you break down they have a guy that will come rescue you. Had two trips where a machine in the group broke down. Real life saver when your 100’s of km from your truck
  22. You can sign multimillion dollar real estate deals on your phone but won’t suffice for a $170.00 permit.
  23. Yes the dead phone in the cold is definitely an issue. I always have my season pass but many in the group the Quebec trip is a once year thing. I’m going to get the guys to have someone else in the group screen shot their pass, that way everyone’s pass will be on two phones. Been to the Gaspe 6 times and NB 3 times and never been stopped. Just reading on FB people in the St Zenon area were stopped 5 times this weekend. Kind of lose your patience after first couple of stops.
