  1. I heard there was a forest fire on the hill side at MSP. Does anyone know if it caused damage to the trail?
  2. Yes it drives me crazy especially when there are signs or posts to keep riders on the groomed trail and you see tracks going out of bounds! These riders and the ones with loud cans (often the same person) cause 95% of trail closures.
  3. Could a person ride from LSQ up to Matagami then down to Amos in a day?
  4. I haven't done it, but I believe if you drove easy you could get 150-160 miles out of a tank. That said, from my experience it would be impossible do. There is too many awesome straight stretches and too many hills to squeeze the flipper for ski lift! Carry extra gas and drive the Turbo the way it was meant to rode. 💤💤👍
  5. Good digging Iceman. The project has a 12-14 week timeline. Optimistically the trail could be open for early-mid February. Timely for one of my favorite loops, start in Pointe a la Croix down through Quebec city via the shuttle, up the TQ23 through Mont Valin and back across a Baie Comeau on the ferry, down the 595, and back to the truck.
  6. Awesome! Quebec must lead the world in OHV bridges!
  7. Have you heard the lengthof the bridge Iiceman?
  8. Windigo is a must see in my opinion. Super friendly owners, Daniel and Martine, certianly will make you feel at home and welcome. Well worth the drive. The TQ73 is a nice trail, be careful going through LA Tuque the QPP sometimes has speed traps set up on the trail.
  9. Looks good Andyman. Looking forward to snow!
  10. Any word if Motel Metegami ever rebuilt and have rooms available this winter?
  11. My 1200 was down since last winter with a charging system gremlin. The mechanic would work at it in his spare time. He missed a bad spot in the flywheel when he took it apart. He said it is good for another 23,000 miles! Hard to beat when they run.
  12. Very important update Iceman! Keep the news flowing. Having this section open will certainly impact travel route planning for me.
  13. Not positive but I believe it was a bridge issue.
  14. Looks awesome. Covid Restrictions gone, Exchange Rate high, Snow on the ground! Looks favorable for our friends south of the border to come in numbers. All the businesses up here will welcome the infusion of $$$!!
  15. What kind of sled is on the right side?
  16. I am unclear aswell about the lack of numbering. Different regions in the FCMQ system do have numbers on their local (orange) trails.
  17. The Roqemont St Raymond to Windigo Pourvoirie first day, 200 miles. Windigo to Girardville day 2, Motel L Oree Des Bois, another 200 mile day. Girardville to Passions in Mount Valin via 373, 177miles. Passions to Casino via ferry in Tadoussac, 180 miles. Late start out of the Casino back to the truck easy last day, 150 miles. These are all easy 200 mile days or less, however you need to start early as you will want to stop for pictures if this is your first trip West of the River. Mid to late February give you lots of daylight.
  18. I would not be surprised to see it open IF there is a logging crew in the bunkhouses. That I suspect is the only reason there was gas in the first place. Covid proticals is probably why it wasn't open last winter.
  19. Bet it was like an igloo then! Lol An awesome view from the top.
  20. Yes new snow, fell two days before I believe.
  21. Stayed here for two days, right above Carleton sur Mer. The trail East from the Carleton clubhouse is running along the top of the grain fields below.
  22. Today, hiking Mont Jacques Cartier in the Gaspesie Park. Snow was 8-9" deep in places. A good sign of things to come. http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2022_09/20220919_113904.thumb.jpg.8b4e585e932e9ef1eec6533e7a0e4104.jpg
  23. Doing a little tour in Quebec. We stay in Cabano a couple nights ago and went down to Pub de Lac for supper. They told us at the pub they will not be open this winter. Tonight we are the the Hotel Cie in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, the restaurant is closed due to staffing issues and at this point do not expect the restaurant to be open this winter. The Petro Canada restaurant across the road is also closed. When planning trips this coming winter a person should certainly ask about your favorite eateries. Covid may be almost behind us, but things are not back to normal yet.
  24. Stay on the groomed, marked trail.
