We arrived at forestville last night by vehicle, plenty of snow all along the shore from quebec to forestville, it appears all the groomers have been out, with notes that east of Saint anne to mal baie/clermont is really blessed at the higher elevations by snow. 2-3 feet in the fields and woods in this area.

Still adequate cover all along the way, with tq 3 open in all areas that we observed

today we rode west on tq 3 towards Portneuf sur mer, grabbed the local trail north up the portnuef river valley and than bush wacked over to the Pelchat valin trail (aka school bus trail)

Nice pics guys...North of baie comeaux, about 2 hours is some wicked mountains..They are like out west, very open and a little bigger than the ones in gaspesie..But there is no where to stay..You have to stay in really shit conditions..More like a logging slash tent town..If it wasnt so empty there thats where I would have a place..But your gas and everything else has to be brought in..Too much trouble....JACK

Our trip today took us up the local forestville trail 30 miles of perfectly groomed trail up the canyon valley, if you ever have a chance when riding trail 3 , stop and take the loop up into the canyons north of forestville they are awesome, you can do a 60 mile loop up through this valley and enjoy awesome views.

These pics are in the canyon valleys north of forestville

After the groom trail stops the canyon road continues north and so we continued up that and headed again for the Pipmaucan reservoir area, the similiar area to where we were two weeks ago other than we were headed for the big pennisula that you see when you look at the reservoir.

We headed up into here and found awesome roads to run

We had noticed on google earth what appeared to be a landing strip up near the reservoir so we checked that out, nice strip here

Than it was time for lunch, nice spot here a small lake near the larger lake called Lake Gouin, not to be confused with the reseroir Gouin further west of this area

After lunch we explored a little more, refueled and back tracked back down, on the way we detoured and found the base structure near the Labieville road, we were puzzled as to what the would have been in its day

Another great day out of forestville.

Quebecmtnrider, is the location you are talking about near the truck stop Gabriel on the road to labrador? I have heard that area is interesting, we stopped there in our vehicle last March on our way to Lab for the cains quest race

Very interesting riding RR, Forestville, Labreville, Pipmuacan, canyons, on trailing, off trailing.

Sharing your adventure with all of us, just amazing guys.

Keep it up and enjoy.

JG

Trailblazer, we love doing this kind of riding early in the season before the snow cover spreads over all areas, We are headed back to Maine on sunday, probably won't be back up on the north shore for while now as we have now received good snow cover back there. Will be doing similiar kinds of riding down there now and on the south shore. But the beauty and size of this area always makes a big impression on us. We will be back. Good people, good food, and great outdoors, it doesn't get better. RR

Today was an absolutely gorgeous day, the best day we have had this week as far as being a blue sky day.

We started off doing the forestville loop trail nice wooded ride here and a must do when you are traveling through forestville

Nice Water fall on this loop

And some taste of the valleys in the canyon

post-197-0-12050400-1356822231_thumb.jpg

Than the further north you go off the loop on the canyon roads you get spectacular views

post-197-0-35862900-1356822392_thumb.jpg

Than we found these met towers that can only mean that there are wind turbines in the future for these elevations. We were at 2348 feet at this met tower

Than we wandered over to Lake Portneuf for another lunch at Pourvoirie Quebec Nature lodge, nobody there but the porch worked well. Today it was beef jerky, italian wedding soup and the tea, (note: we save the crown royal for when we get back!)

post-197-0-47772300-1356822479_thumb.jpg

These lakes were north of Lake Portneuf, just great views today for sure

It is the groulx mtns that I have heard about, never ridden there though, Just another thing to add to the list of snowmobile things todo!! :drinks: I think quebecmtnrider would like the high elevation riding north west of forestville too. Looks like this area was burned over several years ago, regrowth has started but a lot a barren ground currently.
