Trailblazer
Sunday February 16 IMO was the best day of the week end to ride, Friday we got our snow, Saturday many sleds out riding and packing down trails then nice'n cold Saturday night for grooming. The strategy paid off I was the first in the morning on several freshly groomed trails. It was a free week end for Ontario so I had applied on line for my pass earlier in the week and decided to ride in that direction to begin and end my loop. I began at 8:30 am rode out of my yard onto the 306 crossing the Lake St.Louis to the 301 then 33 to 312 to Rigaud for a gas stop. Then I got on the 317 which lead me into Ontario onto an OFSC A trail bringing me into Alfred then up to Lefebvre which is just across the Ottawa river from Montebello. Stayed on the river to the 323 nord to 43 and an early lunch in Duhamel with the dears. After lunch I decided to take a look at the summer house before returning on the 43 for my loop back. This decision for returning on the 43 made for a long very tire some ride as it is all mountain riding, left right up down down up right left I sure was feeling the pain of being an Apex rider. 43 ends in Lac des Seize Isles, there is no longer a trail 43 going through Saint Adolphe de Howard linking you to St.Adele, there are locals still running the stretch but unless you know it don't try it. During a short break at the lake I met up with another solo rider on a Yamaha Phazer after a quick chat we found out we were heading in the same direction and decided to ride down together. I was a little reluctant at first, thinking I would be waiting too much for this guy on a his little 500cc 4 stroker Phazer, boy did I ever under estimate myself, this guy I guess thought the same and gave me a run for my money. Holy smoke I was sweat'n it trying and I say trying to keep up with this little 500cc 4 stroker. He was a local and showed me some short cuts through the Pine Hill area and we were on the 3 in no time. We said our good byes and I took a local trail leading me to the Ottawa river crossing over to Chutes de Blondeau Ontario and rode back to Rigaud and returned home by 7:30pm using the same trails. Trails were an 8-10 all day with the exception of Rigaud on my return, it was pretty rough going through town and over the mountain from the day. The route Ice fishing village on Lake St.Louis 301 33 312 and a fat thumb Ontario border crossing Leaving the A trail for a local to bring me to the town of Lefebvre on the Ottawa river Intersection of 43 and 323 Lunch with the dears Alls well at the home away from home More nice trails Remember Sled Ed.....a local tribute If you look closely in the distance you can see the ski trails on Mt.Tremblant just below my fat thumb This a plowed road linking two villages on Lac des seize Isles, the trail runs parallel with the road and is quite a fast trail but you need to be on the watch for driveways or feeder roads leading to chalets. The lights on the ski hill Mount Rigaud

Florida Snowman
Great report of a sweet ride JG! A blue-jay day with great light. I love the "Trailblazer" on the cowling! Nice work. Gotta love APS on an Apex! I own a '06 Apex GT & a '13 Apex XTX & know how the arms feel after a 300 mile day that includes some tight & twisties. The difference with APS is amazing! towing
Nice loop JG !!! and you are right, you had the best day to ride on sunday with this outstanding blue skie and firmer trails than what we had on saturday. I recognized a couple spots in Duhamel area, also the covered bridge from my rides with Coyote on this side... ha... small machines in tight stuff are unbeatable for sure...but you know, people pay to go to the gym and work out, you had your training session with some throttle blips in between... not bad !!! Do you know JG if the St-Laurence river is crossable a bit east from where you pass near St-Louis de Gonzague?? If we don't get rain next friday I would like to try the loop north shore/south shore crossing there and crossing back by Sorel ferry... we did that at least 10years ago and never been able to do it again... Trailblazer
Do you know JG if the St-Laurence river is crossable a bit east from where you pass near St-Louis de Gonzague?? Alain There used to be a way to cross from Les Cedres to La Grand Ile but we lost the passage due to development. In any case Alain you still need to cross the Beauharnois canal by the St.Louis de Gonzague bridge, no getting around that. Arriving from the North shore, 33 will take you into Ile Bizard, there will be an intersection on land that will take you back to Lac des Deux Mountagnes. However I encourage you to take a moment and stop in at the relais in Ile Bizard (125 year old house) just keep going through that intersection about a 1 klm. Once you've crossed the lake first gas station Petro-Canada next gas station 10klms street corner (Cite des Jeunes et St.Angelique) 1.5 klms from there local trail on left will take you to the 306 which in turn bring you to Lac St.Louis where all the ice fishing villages are, when you get on the lake do not cross it there is a trail to the right about 500 feet from shore this will lead you to Melocheville, follow trail to St.Louis de Gonzagne bridge. On the other side of bridge you are on your own, it has been too many years since i have been there to give advice. Visit www.harfangdesneiges.ca website for a trail map to help you through. Wish I could offer an escort but I am heading north to the Gathering Good luck JG
