It was cut out to divert the water while the dam was built, per what I was told by locals. The water from the dam drives 2 GE generators down near trail 328. The trail to Onatchiway use to go right past the building where the generators are located. When I went into it with a flash light, once I turned the corner, the flash light was worthless as it was so dark in there that the flashlight was of no help.
