It comes out at the Saint Raymond club house . Holy moley! Ran it today. If I had SR1 in my backyard at home I wouldn't need to schlep to Quebec. What an awesome mix of everything you'd want. Plus bunches of well tracked offshoots to go explore. No piston-ally, but if you need that you can stay on the railbed (which was also perfect from St Ray to 353 today). dooright

Blueblood
I understand playhard. I can't get anymore extended weekend's so it's more only choice. And actually last Saturday trails were fairly good. I'm just looking forward to another ride. PLAYHARD

PLAYHARD
Day 3, Sat 3/17) Out the back of Chambord onto the ice shortcut to Roberval Winter Fest "Village", and first taste of of the very tasty 373: Trailblazer and iceman
PLAYHARD
Then on up the 93 toward Lac a Jim to the new bump out, under clear blue skies: (THANKS NH MOOSE! PLAYHARD
We knew the 93 over the top toward Girardville is heavily groomed & lightly ridden: Florida Snowman, Trailblazer, iceman and 1 other
PLAYHARD
It is Saturday, it is sunny, trails are perfect, so where is everybody?... Three generations hanging around the Girardville clubhouse! Totally cool a community vibe. Young'uns on the brap-brap, parents on the sporties, and the more senior on the two ups. PLAYHARD
Just a bit onward down the trail to town to top the gas, and we stop at the sign for the G'ville gas, but what's that up to the left? A 373 sign and a gas & resto sign for Notre Dame De Lorette in 48k? We can make that! Check the GPS nope. Check the map - YUP! This is our plan A! And it looks groomed! Good thing we stopped there to look around! Not just to stay on plan, but because this is the trail section we dream about: dooright, iceman and Trailblazer
PLAYHARD
We get to the ND De Lorette clubhouse and Julie pumps the gas and serves the cafe & choc chaud, says she'll hold onto the Team Ice sticker until after they renovate the whole place. We say we don't remember this trail or relais, she says we shouldn't it's new! What about the FERME sign exiting the lot here? It's just a few k of plowed logging road around Lac Eden. Onward!... PLAYHARD
Last leg on 373 was an original trail to nowhere from St Ludger de Milot. Just as awesome. Drops us right onto the river by Mt Valain (Scooby) La Marche. In early again? Trailblazer
PLAYHARD
Just a bit uncomfy over the guilt of so much daylight left we figure we'll go into town to top the gas and do a local loop. But the neighborhood trails are (ever so slightly) rippley. Spoiled?! Us?! We bring a fresh supply of JD & snacks back to the A-frame and have a proper afternoon tea then back to the lodge for dinner. DJ/waitress/bear hunter guide plays Country set: "God is great, beer is good, people are cra... zy"... PLAYHARD
Day 4, Sun 3/18) Destination Club Odanak, La Tuque Big respect goes to the Backcountry Boondockers. And GPS! Well, we were Urban Boondockers and once or twice before, during and/or after Alma the GPS saved our butts! We set the thing to take us back to Chambord and looking back we beelined down some orange plus some 23 plus 383. All good, wheels helpful thru the city, a bit drafty & drifty down around the bottom of the lac. Back to those perfectly groomed trails and got off the 83 for the local 617 to redo the ice shortcut to Roberval (the only backtracking for the loop). But first cafe & choco chaud break & helmet wire surgery. (THANKS AGAIN SCORPION BOWL FOR THAT CLEAR NYLON/KEVLAR REINFORCED DUCT TAPE! NO THANKS TO BPS FOR THE BVS RCA'S THAT BREAK OFF AT THE WIRES!) Trailblazer
PLAYHARD
Someone posted that the rip on 83 between Relais 22 & LSJ needed grooming Sunday, but the westbound lane was swwweeeet. So much so that we were selfish and didn't stop for many pics. (Sorry) Got the Relais burgers at 22 and onward to Odanak. Still in early but a more respectable 248mi of mint mint mintness. PLAYHARD
Day 5, Mon 3/19) Destination Cap de la Madeline. Plan is scenic route down almost to Riviere Pierre on the 73 to the orange east into St Ray, then railbed west and drop down the 353 and locals to the toy shed. Did I mention is was COLD all 4 days & nights! Wind thru La Tuque must have been blowing south, because we didn't get the rotten eggs smell from the pulp mill until we were below their parking lot. On the south side of town after the gas there's that tracked up left that we KNOW goes straight to the 73 ripper, but we weren't in a rush, and it's not official, and it's not groomed, and the legit trail has the airport run (103mph) & the moose & 9 freaking perfect miles of twisties! PLAYHARD
Groomer secteur south of Jeannette warming shack had "texture" to keep us honest & humble. But it got back to magic-carpet well before the turn off for SR3, which is AMAZING. Seriously, it's all I'd need, even without the gobs of offshoots. Sorry got in the zone so no pics.
