Eastern townships trails finally flashed a Go signal, ok, let's go. Gonna be a solo run, but conditions are right, so off I go. Left cabin in Averill at 6:30am and pointed skis towards RDL. Mayor Mike has signaled hes in his office, so I guess I'll go visit. 15 miles to customs in Beecher Falls, a 30 second conversation and I'm in Quebec. Not tons of snow, but any that is there is groomed perfectly. Gotta go easy on the flipper as apparently the whitetail deer population is thriving up here! Easily saw 100+ of them on the trip today. Most clear out quickly, but a few linger longer than you want them to. Take first fuel in Weedon at 87 miles, then keep rolling. The 540 towards Thetford Mines shows the first minimal wear that I've seen, but still really good. Hit the 25 east and everything back to groomed perfection all the way up to the 35 where the fuel consumption takes a big hit....what a racetrack this is! Instead of looking for top end, just settled in at 80mph +/- for the next 75 miles or so. Tourville relais was closed, so glad I took fuel in Notre Dame du Rosaire, quick fill just off the 35. Kept running fast up 35 , then broke left on 557 and stopped at Club les Belle Pistes for a cup of soup before finishing the last 35 miles into the Universal in RDL. Arrived at precisely 3:30pm with exactly 330 miles on the ticker, a great run. Almost immediately ran into the Mayor himself, and shared a glass of vino with him! Will rendezvous in the morning to see what's on tap for tomorrow. Not many pics as it was a very Grey day....
