Snowmobilers who venture into the Gaspésie trails will be able to refuel at the Relais de la Cache located on Route 299, halfway between Sainte-Anne-des-Monts and New-Richmond.
From January 20 until April 2, snowmobilers will have access to the gas station at Relais de la Cache between 9 am and 5:30 pm "The goal was to avoid a break in services at one location Hinge for snowmobilers. Le Relais is located in the heart of the most popular trails in the region, "explains Richard Marin, SADC general manager of Haute-Gaspésie, who oversaw the project from the beginning. A tripartite agreement to this end was recently concluded between the new owner of the Relais, the Micmac community of Gesgapegiag with the SADC of Haute-Gaspésie and the Association of snowmobile clubs of the Gaspésie.
Since the beginning of the snowmobile trail project in the Gaspé Peninsula, Richard Marin has stated that the Relais de la Cache is a must for snowmobilers for a number of reasons. "There is all the safety aspect because it is an isolated area and there are also the economic benefits for local businesses that benefit from the presence of snowmobilers. "

Although the gas station is operational throughout the winter, it is important to note that there will be no accommodation or catering at the Relais de la Cache. The Mi'kmaq community is planning to work there in 2017. Thus, a trailer will be built on site for the employees who will operate the gas station. These are two full-time jobs for a ten-week period that have been created.
Richard Marin underlined that the opening of the gas station this winter was made possible thanks to a regional consultation effort. "If all the negotiations were going on like the ones we had with the Mi'kmaq community, that would be ideal. We had excellent cooperation. "
It adds the financial cooperation of the SADCs of Gaspé, Rocher-Percé, Matane and Baie-des-Chaleurs, as well as the CLD of Haute-Gaspésie and the MRC de la Matanie and the Association of Snowmobile Clubs of the Gaspésie. The Federation of Snowmobile Clubs of Quebec also acted as a logistics partner.

Good news. Conditions on this trail change quickly so gas is very important.
It is one of the nicest trails for scenery so I hope they keep up with the gas!

Leaving for home tomorrow from the Delta, conditions here are excellent even with the warm weather. 800mi. in 41/2 days hit maybe 1/4mi of bumps the whole trip. Ran into some old friends and made some new ones, each and everyone an experienced Quebec Rider. Got to go on the maiden run today with Bill after his mishap. He said he felt fine and the way he was riding I would say he wasn't fibbing. BTW if you ever need a muffler spring removed or installed call MrGutz he can do that with the precision of a brain surgeon, amazing.

Decided last wed night that myself and my buddy would leave for Shawinigan Thursday afternoon. Wifee approved, good to go!!! "Just be back on the Island by 3:00 Sun for your daughters recital !!!" Sure no problem, I reply....Basically, plan is that I leave Long Island by 2.  Well my luck, my sister in law has a baby and my wife is off to Jersey hence I'm in charge of my 3 daughters. Well wifee gets home around 6 and I'm head into nyc traffic by 6:15...😰..Uhhg..get him in CT bought 8:30 and arrive at Drakkar just before 5A.M.
Mounted, fed, fueled and rolling by 9:30 with no planned route or destination. Just need to pump out a good first ride. Hammered along 3 east beautiful trails to 23 north. Stopped by the ski-doo dealer in St. Ray, grabbed some oil and headed dew north. Well groomed trails up to Le' tap. Fresh snow, tons of dust north up to Mt. Apica. Overall good trail all the way up to Delta. Arrived about 5:00 ...271 miles.
Niether of us had ever been up to the Delta before. When we walked in, we were greeted by a gentleman holding 2 plastic cups of warm beverage. " you boys look cold, have some Caribou" having never met him or even seen a picture of him before I said "thanks Bill". An honor to be welcomed to the Saguenay region by the Legend himself.
After breakfast and some quick directions from Bill, we were off to go around the lake. Bill said it would be a long day, but dew able to make it to La'tuque. 93 west was fast and beautiful. The same down 373 and all the way to St. Felician. Although the trails were good, the signage was poor and we wasted a lot of time with map guessing, U turns and luck to make it into Roberval and fuel up. Pulling out of Roberval, we see signs La Tuque 150 Km. No problem!! We hit 83 and keep following the signs for La Tuque.....after about 30 miles I start realizing that we should have been off 83 by now to get into Lac Ed. Then I finally see a maker 83 West....WTF..??? Neither of us had ever ridden this region before.  It was pushing 4:00 and we had no idea how far relays 22 was...or if it was even open. I wanted to retreat back to Roberval, but no dice..we pushed on to 22. Now it's just about dark and I figure it would be nice to grab a room at the relais and finish up the trip back to Shawinigan tomorrow. Once again, my ruling was overturned, when my buddy said "we gotta get you home by 3 tomorrow ". With my wife's voice ringing in my head, we run down 73. Kinda shitty trail, very winding and slow especially since it had not been groomed since the fresh 8-10" of snow and maybe only a dozen sleds had passed. Into LaTuque around 8:30 p.m., fuel up and we decide that since we know from here south, let's run it in....down 355 to the power lines, heading for the pipeline and the trail turns horrible. Turned around went back to 360 and ran it all the way in jumped onto the river and took it into Grand mere. Passed the groomer and beautiful trail back to Drakkar by 11:30 with 440 miles on the clicker. Beating my high mileage record by about 60 miles.
711 miles in 2 days....pretty good for an unplanned trip.
Load up the truck, shower, eat, bar and bed around 2:30. Slept a bit and rolled out of there by 5a.m. and I slid into the resital at five to 3. Woo hoo ! Thanks to my buddy Kevin for pushing me and making me a hero to my daughter. Hope to do a couple more trips like that later this season. Need to bust Kevin's 1 day record of 540 miles 😬.
For now, I'll be packing up tomorrow to catch a plane Wed for West Yellowstone. A change of pace to play in the mountains on 155's and be happy if we do 50 miles for the day.
Thanks again Bill ! ! We did it!

My Buddy Mike and I drove to that Gaspesie last Wednesday for a quick blow the cob webs out loop. We unloaded the sleds and did some prep work for our trip

Day 1    We left from Pointe a la Croix early Thursday morning   About 2 miles out of New Richmond it started to sprinkle rain, so we did what true die hard sleds do, checked into the Francis and ate chicken wings and washed them down with beer for the rest of the day. trails were awesome

Day 2. Left New Richmond and traveled along the south shore on perfect trails. We based in Chandler and drove to Perce, a beautiful day.  We had a bowl of soup at Rolands and drove down the sidewalk to get a picture of our sleds on the wharf with the Rock in the background. To our surprise the section of the wharf that connects to shore was blown out by the storm a week previous. So a picture from shore was the best I could do. Looks like a new lookout on the road behind the church, we didn't drive up because of time constraints. We road from there to the Hotel Adams in the town of Gaspe for the evening. After supper we came back to our rooms and I was pleased to see about 10 other sleds lined up infront of the rooms.

Day 3.   Saturday was another beautiful sunny day. We left Gaspe full of fuel and drove to Murdochville 90 miles of freshly groomed trail that we put the first tracks on. Filled up in Murdochville and rode on first track all the way to LA Cache. The Groomer was there but no sign of life, we motored right through and up to St Paulin.  There is lots of wood being cut on that piece of trail, budworm salvage.  Looks like new stall at St Paulin, food was good and we continued to La Mechins for gas. We pulled in with 140 miles on the tank of gas, both sleds took about 33 liters of gas. From there we rode to the Quality Inn at Matane, a 282 mile day.

Day 4   We left the Quality Inn with about 4" of fresh snowI  I got to the just of the TQ 5 and noticed my GPS wasn't in the mount!!!  Crap, we turned around a drove slowly back to the motel, no sign of it. I pouted for a minute, said sledding is expensive, and headed out. We rode through fields, drifts, and woods trails for about 20 miles. I was sliding down a long straight away on the 591 and couldn't get my foot set right in the boot well, looked down and believe it or not there was the GPS!!  What a relief, I made sure this time it locked properly into the mount. We continued on down to Groomers region, trails were unbelievable. We missed Jean Guy by minutes but stopped at the little golf club on the way to 8 mile lake, a great spot and a very nice lady running it.  From there it was back to the truck by 1pm and start our 4 HR truck ride home to Nova Scotia.  We rode 720 miles and had perfect trails the whole time, can't wait to go again. Sorry i dont have more pictures but it was not my first trip, however still love the trails!!!

I'm carrying a satellite phone and a GPS  with the ability to use. If it gets to the point where I'm not comfortable preceding forward I'd have no issues turning tale and heading back. Originally was hoping to make it to Blanc Sablon and possibly further East into Labrador but with a delayed start and less mileage per day than I had planned for it's not likely to happen but will give  me insight into moving further along in future trips out this way.
