  1. Thx for the info. Do you mean the 587 was rerouted, or the orange trail to the radio tower was rerouted?
  2. X2. I won't miss it either in mid March.
  3. Not the first time I've heard of this. Really hope this apparent trend of forcing out dealers stops.
  4. Any suggestions in Pointe-a-la-Croix and near Gaspe?
  5. Small world......finishing up a house on Fretz Road (Hilltown) right now!!!
  6. Regarding your route noted above..... Heading out of RDL....I assume to simply stay on 5 to Rimouski, then maybe cut down 579 to 587, to back on 5....headed towards Point ala Croix? Any idea on the mileage from Point ala Croix to Murdochville via the route you noted (appears to be 180-200 miles)? Any gas stops further than 100 miles between Point ala Croix and Murdochville? Thx, John
  7. I layer. 1) Synthetic base layer from RUoutside.com (made in USA). Or the Un Armor/Klim base layers are good too. I only use the bottom base layer below -10F. 2) Mid layer.....Klim Everest pant are fantastic for warmth (see link below). Then a good fleece top, or a Klim mid-layer top. http://www.klim.com/Everest-Pant-3253-002.html#57320 3) Tekvest on top 4) Good Klim insulated suit 5) Glove liners and thin gloves (Skidoo Grip Gloves). I add gauntlets below zero F. 6) Klim socks I'm good to -25F, haven't tested below that.
  8. Hi, Hoping to see the Gaspie for the first time this year. Assuming we'll start in RDL. I've read many Gaspe trip reports on QR and also have spoke with some folks in hopes of roughly mapping the best route.....assuming 5-6 days on the sleds. Can anyone provide some further guidance for priorities, (towns to visit, stay on 5 or hit some interior trails, see the Chic-Chocs, clockwise or opposite, etc) for a first timer? Thx, John
  9. Thx, will try it (typed this from desktop)
  10. I can view and read QR from my iphone but when I try to log in it won't allow......says "oops, something went wrong.....#103133" I can log in to other websites from my phone. Any suggestions?
  11. Sorry for the late response. Here's a pic, obviously a shorty, hopefully it helps.....
  12. Would be curious to hear what you find in St. Raymond and/or LSJ as we're headed there Fri night.
  13. Wow, judging by the sled that was quite the hit. Hope the rider will be okay.
  14. So it sounds like a rough itinerary but plan on improvising. Any concerns with lodging if NOT having called ahead for reservations (assuming 4-6 riders)???
  15. For me personally it'd have to be early March. Not sure how that impacts some of the other's on "the list". Too early to know total guys yet, but hoping it stays in the total range of 4-6 (6 being the max for me). I'll keep you posted (and vice versa) as we get into mid Feb
  16. Where are you from in NJ? Some of us in SE PA are talking about a Gaspe loop in later Feb/early Mar. Let me know if interested.
  17. that looks like a slice of heaven
  18. Looked online at reservation options for the Delta for the above mentioned dates and those dates are blocked out. I assume they're unavailable due to a hockey tournament. Can anyone confirm? If that weekend is a tournament I assume most of the town would be full.......and I'm hoping some folks can chime in with decent alternative places to stay within 5-10+ miles? The tentative plan is to saddle bag up from St. Raymond and spend 2-3 nights in the Saguenay/Valin region. Thx, John
  19. That's a slick set up and I forgot about their oil bottle. Looks good. Wouldn't be any fun without a few trips to the hardware store.....I expect the same!!!
