  1. We had to have the “ice breaker “ escort the last 5 miles into Matane as there was heavy ice which shut down service for two days earlier this week.
  2. Started Sunday morning in Shawinigan (more snow than I’ve ever seen there) and headed out the 3 towards QC. Things were good for the first 50 miles or so ( actually mint). Around QC and all the way up to Baie St Paul was like riding Tug Hill in NY. I swear EVERYONE that had a running sled in QC was out on the trails today. It was a beautiful blue sky day ( the whole week has been like that) so we made the best of it. Getting beat up your first day and riding 200+ kinda sucks but what they hey..... stayed at Hotel Baie St. Paul for the night. Headed up to Forrestville on Monday and the trails got much better. Had a moose encounter about 30 miles before the hotel but that’s a whole other story. The 3 way before and way after tadoussac was groomed to perfection which was nice. We left Forrestville yesterday morning and headed to Baie Comeau for lunch then headed out to Godbout. What a trail. Back tracked to BC for the night. After much fanfare with the ferry problems this year we finally has positive confirmation of a 2:30 pm departure to Matane. Woke up this am and ran solo (buddies decided to relax)on the local trail that runs 42 miles north of Baie-Comeau and dead ends as groomer update showed last night. What a SPECTACULAR run and trail. Lots of 60;70 & 80 MPH sweepers. My new all time favorite!!!!! Had a beautiful ferry run over and with the weather being so nice we got lots of money shot pictures and met lots of cool people. Working our way down to QC and back to Shawini on Saturday. Havnt been to the north shore in quite a few years and it was sweet to see and run it all again. Here is a pic at 1:30 today sitting on top of the hill overlooking the Baie-Comeau ferry terminal.
  3. We are leaving this morning from Shawinigan and will be crossing either Tuesday or Wednesday. I will most likely have another thread started about our “always an adventure “ trip.
  4. I spoke to to them on the way up here today and the girl (didn’t speak the best English) said “Godbout broken” i assume this means they are having trouble retrofitting the docks there. 5 days ago a guy there told me Godbout would resume on Wednesday the 20th but I guess not.
  5. Been windy as a mother all week here in western New York too. Here’s to less windy days ahead !!!
  6. Have a reservation for 3 sleds crossing on this Tuesday the 19th. Made them like 3 days ago when I talked to the guy and he said the Godbout to Matane wasn’t starting up until Wednesday the 20th. But on Tuesday the 19th 5 pm was running Baie Comeau to Matane. now I’m not so sure after reading this. Their number above is answered 9-5 7 days a week. Call them. Guy speaks good English and will give you whatever new updates they have. Seems like today and the next two days are their first runs with the new boat. The docks had to be modified and Godbout’s will be last. I’m sure this was no easy feat considering the time of year it is. We are leaving bright and early tomorrow to start our trip so I’m going to call and get an update on the way. If you type in “Matane ferry” on google their website is the first thing that pops up and they update it regularly. Here is their latest: February 14, 2019 3:58 p.m. Matane–Baie-Comeau–Godbout The management of the Matane–Baie-Comeau–Godbout ferry wishes to inform its customers of the official schedule that will be in effect with the MV Apollofrom Friday, February 15 to Sunday, February 17, 2019. This schedule is based on infrastructure and tides, to allow the loading and unloading of vehicles on the vessel. For this reason, we can only validate for the moment the schedule for the next three days. The schedule in effect until Sunday inclusive will be as follows: Matane to Baie-Comeau: departure at 8 am Baie-Comeau to Matane: departure at 6 pm Due to the varying impact of the tides on the vessel's loading operations and the fact that there is a familiarization period with the vessel and the newly adapted loading docks, some departures may have up to 45 minutes of delay. We ask our customers the best understanding, especially during the first days of operation of the MV Apollo, and our staff will do everything possible to respect the schedules as much as possible. We will be able to send to our customers in the following days an official schedule with which the ferry will be comfortable to operate, given the current infrastructures and conditions. The management of the ferry thanked its customers for their great patience and understanding during this period.
  7. Did that several times years ago. Once we did it with no other tracks on it. That was memorable.
  8. Yeah I was thinking the same thing about the picture quality. Whatever it is it’s a great camera
  9. Starting ours Sunday morning from Shawini. YA..........HOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  10. Jesus those wind vids are sick. I don’t think I’ve ever gassed up in conditions quite like that.
  11. Are you saddling up and ready to shoot down to Lebel Sur on that east side trail ? It’s one of my favorites for sure! If so please give an extra little pinch in some of the corners for me when you go through. TIA
  12. But within 100 yds is the fairly new supermarket that is great and has all kinds of goodies.
  13. Go,Go, Go Pipeman !!!!!! im sure you already know......their calling for 6-8 inches around Chibougamau tonight. Enjoy the powder tomorrow.
  14. pipeman, most certainly the dance hall across from the Nordic will be closed tonight as it’s monday. Ask the people at the hotel what’s going on with that place nowadays.
  15. ICE & crew, have a spectacular week and LOTS and LOTS of fun. Hope to meet you in person someday. Very surprised our paths have not crossed already.
  16. BEAUTIFUL Alain !! I’m always amazed at the talent those locals have in St Come and if people have never been there in person they ought to make sure they do one day. As you said....pictures do not do it justice you have to be there. Yes conditions are superb this season. One could easily ride from one end of Quebec to the other in any direction and yes I agree with St Gabriel de Brandon trail network this year. They are doing a much better job than around the Massé area. The last couple years I have noticed the grooming going down hill and not getting done enough for the amount of traffic the area gets. I’m going to ride my new fat bike after work today as it’s going to be 60 degrees F here near Rochester today which they say is going to break a record.
  17. I ALWAYS take their phone numbers...LOL Have a bunch of them. Added Andre from L' Hombre Du vent in Parent two weeks ago.One of the most resourceful and connected people up in that region. You can never have enough contacts when you ride in the bush.
