Byrd got a reaction from PLAYHARD in No Reservations
M&M tours are back after a 2 year COVID lay off. 2 McKenzies, 2 Moore’s left Oliphant Ontario and one McKenzie left Antigonish, NS to meet in Rivière-du-loup Monday night. This is the first bag trip in many years where we have no set plans “No Reservations”, which turned out to be a good thing so far, because the first morning we woke up to a snow storm.
Don’t let bad weather or common sense keep you at port.
Planned a short day to Domaine Valga, trail 5 was very choppy; dropped down to the 518 which was a lot nicer. Arrived around 4, enjoyed cocktails, good food and a nice comfy bed.

Day 2, Woke up to 25 CM of fresh sugar. Weather forecast looked good to the south, headed towards Carleton to the Bai Blue. Made our way down the 579 to the 587 checked out the mommies visibility nile, continued on to our destination. Rode through every kind of weather: Snow, ice fog, rain, freezing rain. Two days of rough trails you got to take what Mother Nature gives you. Woke up to sunshine and a very positive groomer map.

Saturday woke up at Auberge Carabou being Saturday, on the Gaspé, we started looking for reservations. After 45 minutes of phone calls and numerous wishes of “good luck”, we did finally find a spot at L’Auberge Seigneurie des Monts.
Left around 11, stop and had a picnic lunch, a little bit of sight seeing, but our main goal today was to find an SAQ. M&M tours runs on high test and we were out of brown liquor and running very low on rum….we didn’t want to develop rod knock. We did make it to SAQ just at closing time!

A little extra effort to get to Auberge Seigneurie des Monts but totally worth it.  Amazing accommodations, great food, and soft fuzzy bath ropes.

Didn’t have to worry about waking up anyone with our machines, last ones to leave as usual. Headed west, did the Mount Carleton loop, 100 KM of freshly groomed trail, 2 groomer no sleds. As usual local trails were the best again. Took trail 5 to hotel Fraser in Chandler. Stopped and had picnic lunch, trails were 10 out of 10 other than the last 50 KM. 330 total, not bad for a late start.

No Reservations strikes again. Early start but late departure.
Issues with chain case/gear box on Scott’s 1200. Anyone that has had taken apart a case chase/gear box apart on a 1200 knows that it is no fun especially at -26..
Scott into the trickle trunk, tool box out and starts taking apart cain case, take apart and inspect, only lost one bolt, went back to the trickle truck and had one in stock, few adjustments and put back together and have the warm and fuzzes.
It’s 1 o’clock before we strike off to Hotel Caribou, stop off at Parcé Rock, for a few pictures and the touristy thing.
Arrived at quarter after 6, with 90% of our trails excellent.
