  1. Should I warn this poor sob for what he is in for? I'm jealous.......Phil is a great responsible rider and was a pleasure to have on our Feb trip Burn the miles up and a trip report with pics would be nice
  2. Phil you know there are sexual predators on the internet. I would be very cautious going on a trip with someone that could try to get fresh with you. May want to do a background check.
  3. How was your last trip? How many Miles?

  4. Great report! Awesome trip! Interesting to see if anyone out there can top that mileage total on one consecutive venture! Maybe worth a new topic
  5. Let us know what you find.......We are coming from pa this week and r looking at the same area to launch from. Waiting to hear from a place a few miles north of auberge mekinac that we have left from before. I believe its in the town of st joseph de mekinac just at the base of the pipeline. From the club website it says that the latuq club groomed all the way to shawinigan. The updated fcmq trail conditions page still has the shawinigan area yellow. ??????????trying to get some first hand advice
  6. Richard is not officially open full time until the 10th. It is the ideal spot for some of us that drive a long way from the USA
  7. Pipemaster, You gave some detail into the trails early on in your trip.............your input on 355South and the remainder of the trails on your trip would be greatly appreciated......... We are headed up on the 2nd and are trying to plan our loop based on the information we can gather. Its 9hours to St anne du lac and St Raymond...........just under 8 to Shawnigan. We have stayed at all these places...........Due to procreation my brother and I don't have the opportunity to make several trips to the land of snowmobiling so we area trying to make the most of the limited time we have available. Based on the limited reports, we are getting nervous there isn't much snow in Quebec? Emailed Richard at Auberge de Mekinac and he isn't Open full time till the 10th. We drive from northeast PA and like to drive as few miles as possible until our launch point for a loop. Thanks!
  8. agree on Richards place..........we actually started there two years ago. Wonderful Host! Just a little tired of running 355 up to the HI. We have been to quebec every year for the last 15 or so and seem to miss out on the route from st ray up thru letape to jonquiere. In our experience......355 could be hit or miss. If u hit it when they didn't groom for a while, it makes for a long ride. I believe one club grooms a very large portion on that trail. Anyone hit 355 lately?
  9. Looks like we are going to launch our trip from St Raymond. In years past, have started at Motel Safari in Shawanigin, great place that embraces snowmobiling. Just cant justify a 20 to 25 dollar a day charge to park your vehicle..........this year espcially with the lack of snow in that area. Could anyone make any recommmendations on secure parking in st ray. Going to shoot up thru the park to the HI and improvise 1000 miles from there. Your help is greatly appreciated, Scranton 1
  10. How many miles around the complete loop from RDL? Is there any recommendation for secure parking in RDL? I have the complete Quebec map.......How do we request the region specific map for Gaspesie? We have been everywhere else in Quebec and are really on the fence about heading to RDL for our trip on Feb 2nd. What would be the next best starting point south-southwest of RDL to still be able to make the loop in 5-6 days 250+ a day. Its on the bucket list and I hope this is the year! Tx, BJ
  11. Phil, Perfect Machine............with the exception of the low windshield. Awesome look but when its -25 I don't care what my machine looks like.
  12. Due to limited time, kids etc we are looking into the cost effectiveness of getting rid of the fleet and just renting machines for our annual trip to quebec. One trip for 7 days is forcasted for the next several years............no interest in riding in PA or NY. New sled, registration in Pennsylavania, and the 7day pass for quebec, insurance, trailer, trailer registraion etc etc etc. Gas pulling four sleds for 9 hrs. Yearly maintenence and minimum repairs (usually new sled 2 to 3 years) plus the terrible depreciation of a great used snowmobile with canadian mileage..... A rental sled is 200cdn a day. 2500 deductible for any insurance claim. Anyone have any positive or negative experiences with renting........... It seems like a no brainer???????????
  13. Nice Stuff..............Let see more pics please
  14. Trails were great west of clova through the fire areas to lac fallion and Seneterre.... Didn't realize there was a detour until our buddy who is a rookie with a new GPS tried to convince us we werent on the correct trail... This guy was a pisser.........The GPS was sacred to him........Fortunately the SkiDoos get such great gas mileage, with the addition of the auxillary tanks, you rarely have to worry about trail detours that could change distances between towns and have the potential to leave you stranded on the trail....... I would approximate the detour adds another 25 to 30 miles between gas stops heading west and is a little more twisty, turny than we would prefer
  15. The recliner from the picture of timbo was looks very familiar. "Auberge Clova" downstairs. Clova was great...........Outstanding Hospitality for a great price. Room, breakfast, dinner 80 bucks including tip. Favorite stop of our entire trip.
  16. Great Report....... We just got back from a 1500 mile adventure........My brother will post the thorough report shortly. Trails were great with the exception of 20miles around st. michel Tons of snow north.
  17. Great post....... We are leaving March sixth for a very similar and flexible adventure. Usually use a play it by ear approach avoiding any rough areas or lack of snow/toomuch snow. It would be really helpful if you can give any recommendations on trails to avoid! Riden quebec for 10 years but have yet to hit the abitibi region. This year we are going to start in the maniwaki area and head north/north west and then a similar loop hitting chibougamu........ST Jean..........Tadoussac then back west. The more specific you can be utilizing those wonderful mapsource shots would be very very much appreciated. Thanks, BJ
  18. Could you Post a link to the HCS site where the info is available. Much Appreciated. Just got a Garmin Zumo and trying to figure out how to get the Quebec map on.........Confusing stuff for a first timer.
  19. Cant open either........ Ray, Open the file and copy and paste into forum.
  20. Whats the best route to the val dor area from mt Laurier........ 63 or 13,83 via parent........... We are looking to make a large loop. Any insight or advice in this western part of qc would be greatly appreciated. Its one area we have yet to visit.
  21. We rode two years ago at minus 32 c at the bank heading to valin. When we got on the mountains it had to be 10 degrees colder with high winds. Its hard to describe to someone that cold. Took my gloves off to take a pic and in 5 seconds hands were numb. If you got naked at that temp you would freeze solid in 5mins. My piss froze before it hit the ground? Crazy cold. What are the records up there?
  22. High Windshield is the most valuable piece of equipment you can have at those temps. Give me the one as high as it can get...........I don't give a shit how stupid it looks.
  23. Bill, I would like to second that on the jacket. You won't appreciate a good jacket until you have one. We rode two days in rain in late december, Never got wet and never got cold...... Im hoping you back door a set of bibs with my wife for my bday, vtines day or tell her to surprize me. See you at the HI soon. BJ
