  1. Finally got to watch this on my TV. Lots of fun JG!
  2. An FYI for anyone who wants to buy one, Amazon has it for about $130 (free shipping) Unfortunately, they must have had a price increase - last week it was $109!!!
  3. It is very messed up. Not sure about QC, but I know from personal experience that BRP is leaning hard on the dealers to take on more product. If they don't agree, they are done. We had a BRP + Yamaha dealership here; nice new building; all the things they want to see - clothes display area, parts/accessories area, clean, modern shop etc., etc In their last year before closing, they sold 100+ SkiDoo and around 100 Yamaha. BRP rep told they they need to take more stock for next model year or they would lose the franchise. They decided it was too big a gamble and ended up closing the whole business I don't profess to be an expert on recreational dealership business operations but this seems very short-sighted to me. I have heard this same tactic retold from people who know about other BRP dealers getting the same pressure. Very messed up!
  4. Wow! That is allot of seat time - I don't know if I am jealous or in awe (maybe a little of both!!) Glad to hear it was uneventful for the most part and everyone got home safe. Congratulations on planning and executing such an adventure Andy.
  5. Great riding and a great place to stay with excellent food - snowmobiling at its finest! Sounds/looks perfect. Enjoy. Wow, Mario takes very good care of that groomer. Can't believe how little wear is on the cutters on the drag - the paint is hardly worn off!!
  6. I contacted VAST last week who then contacted Drift Dusters Club to confirm that you can once again ride to the Border Station and continue on to the Stanstead QC trails. Enhanced Driver's License (VT and NY only) or passport required.
  7. You would have to plan your trip so as to overnight at another town since Hotel Copper is the only choice in Murdochville. If you could make it to Amqui, the Selectotel Amqui is good.
  8. Always tough to hear. Sorry for your loss.
  9. I wrote this in response to another post in the Eastern Townships forum. I just don't think many people are riding the area and the local clubs have "petered out". Haven't been to Hotel Sawyerville in about 10 yrs. Glad to hear the new owners are trying to keep it going.
  10. It is always bad when a snowmobile trip we have planned and dreamed about is impacted but you did the right thing by heading back for medical care. A back problem doesn't mix with snowmobiling.
  11. Same procedure as jump starting an auto and same 12v system type. BE SURE THE DEAD BATTERY ISN'T FROZEN since it can explode if you attempt to jump it!!! You could try the pull cord but why bother if you can utililize the electric start?
  12. Many of the new jackets are little more than shells so your warmth will only come from your other layers. Under Armour has different styles and I think you may be referring to the "Compression Cold Gear". There are others that are actually warmer and are not compression so don't rule out U/A for that reason.
  13. What town are you looking to be near? How fancy(or not) do you require?
  14. An old trick that always works is to shut the sled off with the choke before a (below zero) cold night. Also, running it 2-3 minutes can fould plugs as it isn't fully warmed up.
  15. It is? Wasn't aware of that + VAST hasn't posted that. Since you are a Drift Dusters member can your club let VAST know. I drove thru there today and don't see a trail??
  16. X3. and if you get in trouble w/weather skip North shore IMO, interior is the best part of Gaspe'
  17. Enjoyed your posts viper. I envy you riding with your wife. Haven't ever been able to get mine to come to Quebec with me - and since her shoulder surgery 2yrs ago, she is more timid about snowmobiling period.
  18. Not sure where you had to ride the roads but Chartiersville (sp) to Weedon has traditionally been poorly signed. Due to a number of low/no snow years and low members/ridership, trails in that area have fallen into a state of near abandonment. Some locals ride them but the days of traffic out of Pittsburg going north went away when the price of passes went up, the exchange rate dropped, etc. On the Vermont side, the trail to the border crossing in Derby has been closed 2-3yrs so you have to go to Norton or Beechers Falls to cross. We usually drive to Beauceville or St. Georges.
  19. Sounds like a good trip Steven. Too bad about the coat but it makes for a trip you will always remember.
  20. February can be problematic. Traditionally the busiest month in Gaspe' and also many hockey tournaments. Most everyone works on the basis of taking stock of where you are at lunch time, what the conditions are; and where you can realistically expect to make it to before dark and make the call(s) then.
  21. Love the pics of the fox! Traffic should be increasing from now on eh?
  22. Nice report Andy. Sounds like a good time with (mostly) good conditions. No one else out riding is getting to be a concerning theme. We saw many Quebec clubhouses closed during mid-week and hours reduced on weekends. We all know it is an expensive sport but now exchange rate is up a bit and gas prices are closer to reasonable. I know our Vermont Snowmobile Association is reporting a drop of almost 50% in members since 2002. (42000 then; -> 23000 now). Is it dropping off in Quebec too? Hopefully there are enough of us left to support and keep the Quebec motels, restaurants, gas stations, and dealerships open.
  23. It seemed "sketchy" to me that he was processed under the Inadmissability clause for a 30yo infraction. Not really. Bottom line is they have no obligation to admit anyone that has done something that catches their attention. x2 on Momojohnny's comment: "only piping up on this thread because going back to Pa would be, you know what for all involved". Yes it would.
  24. That sounds sketchy. I have never been asked (but have nothing on my record). I think they get allot of information when they scan your passport. I've always felt the questions they ask, they already know the anwers to and are checking for how you react/respond.
