back from grooming tq 5 + 1 local trail !!!
-15c when i started at 6 am ...and -16c right now...windy all day ...but no damages....drifts...only 2 local tourists on the trail ..
bad day for pics...day to fall asleep and take a ride in the rhubarb...grey sky most of the time !!!

here s your problem...from the french forum...a guy from the beauce area posted it....you re not alone having problem with that gps thing...few guys from different area of pq have the same problem !!!
looks like fcmq are trying new stuff....thats why their site is kaputt i guess !!!

The FCMQ has replaced 2 GPS surfacers out of 3. So a new GPS service provider (Geolocation) replacing SentinelFm. This season we will have 2 suppliers and therefore 2 different interfaces to use. The latest arrival (Geolocation) uses the satellite coverage compared to SentinelFm's cellular coverage.
After only 3 outings with the surfacer equipped with this new technology, do not be surprised to see on the interactive map of the FCMQ a mountain of error, if no fix is done, bin it will be the '' bullshit '' .
I am not accusing the FCMQ of trying to save money, but it is important to WELL INFORM the snowmobilers of the passage of surfacers in the trails for all of Quebec. And for our Club Manager, to ensure the safety of our surfacer operators and snowmobilers.

We have thought about this but came to the conclusion that if we didn't use it for more than the winter season, it wasn't practical.  You can argue the money side of which is cheaper, your own place or hotels but it is hard to put a value on all the options.  Without looking at the monetary side of the equation, hotels give you more flexibility, you don't have to make the bed or wash the dishes.  You can trailer or ride to where the best snow is or where you haven't been in awhile.
If we were to use it for winter sports, fishing during the warm months or ATVing, ownership might have more weight.  Renting a seasonal place for two months would be a great way to test an area to see if it fits your expectations before you buy.
We agree completely with what Bill said about being close to amenities.  As we age, those creature comforts and professional services become more important.

We rode on opening day. Dec 16 in Vermont.  Some nicely groomed, some breaking trail and some rough but passable areas.  All in all... a great 110 miles.  Here are some pics....

For me Id want sledding and a Lake. Cabano comes to mind. Really nice lake there, great snowmobiling, not far from RDL.  Close to Gaspesie.
Since the taxes and upkeep are year round, Id want to have a great spot for summer and winter .

Trail 23 north to relais mt Apica and back to Roquemont st Ramond  trails were good in the am but a little ruff  the last 20 miles back Great early season riding Lots of mountain sleds 250 miles for the day

I feel lucky I was able to call Rob a friend and riding partner. He will be missed.

Very sad indeed although I’ve never met the gentleman we did exchange emails on a few occasions sharing the loss of both of our wives to cancer. It saddens me greatly to hear of his passing. RIP Mr. Lyons.

Sad news for sure, Rob was a well known arieal photographer around there's parts for years . I always enjoyed his YouTube channel showing the changing seasons around northern new England and a lot from around his place at Coles pond with his drone footage ( Robert Lyons on YouTube)
I did get to meet him a few times back a bunch of years ago when he was on his red Renegade at Chapelle and a year or so,later at the Holiday inn/Delta.  I brought up that I'd seen his arieal work, that in those days were from a small airplane and had a good chat about how all that worked for him .  I am a subscriber to his channel and will miss the notification "new YouTube video from Robert Lyons" and the FB Coles pond weather cam too . 
RIP Rob 

That's a sweet ride, as I age I was certainly thinking of it more with the power steering
and certainly some Yamaha models ride better than others, not sure if she will be part of Team Ice or not. 

I wish I had a garage.....
So the rest of you don't stand in the cold back yard and tinker?
