  1. Sweet rig However I have to admit I liked the blue one you drove up to Bills summer gathering better. speaking of which, how is my friend Eddie dooing? I have not heard much from him or crazy snow lately
  2. If you time it right you can sip on the straightaways, rest one hand where the levers meet. I got a couple lines that aren’t exactly straight while experimenting with the straight line sipping technique...maybe start in the back yard so your neighbors don’t piss they’re pants watching the first couple practice runs
  3. Pic of the 4w on the snow drift brought back some memories... What is the story with the truck heading through the snow tunnel? sweet spot Jack. I will stop in and bring some beer so we can share tales of the trail sometime
  4. Merci JG, GT Snow racer was that model amazing that you take over 600 pics in an average day, increases your chances of having “a good one” haha. i was thinking about staying on the zec roads myself, the trail can be a little bumpy at times. The bulldozer usually makes a nice smooth path, and the grader keeps it that way, or so we hope... have you noticed more deer over the years as they migrate further north? When I am out in the western part of the province I hear all the time places are having deer hunting seasons that never used to see deer when you say “potholes” in French do you say “nids de poules”? i had never heard it called a chickens nest before last year, I had to make sure I heard it correctly...lol as per always... thank you for your photography, like many of us QRs, I check on it all the time if I had the chance to meet you someday I think I would like to hear more about your stories from the challenge Canada adventures, sounds like those were awesome George
  5. I try my hand at photography every once in a while too. Not quite at your level yet lol...work in progress
  6. JG often times when I see your pictures I think to myself I should bring my buggy up to La Valley de la Matapedia for my next ride. I don’t know much about the area or the trail system, it looks perfect. I would have done it by now but it’s a 7 hour ride to Amqui from my house. That puts a damper on chances of making it a weekend ride in that neck of the woods.
  7. Dana la onzieime photo ca m’as l’aire d’un ancien Noma sno ski qui a ete l’aisser dans le banc de neige je me r’appelle quands on glissais avec dans ma jeunesse
  8. I saw your picture of the chicken and thought it looked familiar. That’s funny shit. Let me know when you’re in full withdrawals, I will send some down to you Fedex. They’re first claim to fame was michigans. Similar to a Chile dog but not quite.
  9. Hey Phil, Looks like tough sledding that day in the first pic...lol
  10. If you take advantage of the current exchange rate..then leverage your gains on a short sale of the S&P index..convert back to CDN and use the 24 months no payment backed with a 4 year warranty you might end up with a heated garage for the sunshield that works so well you have to crack the helmet open every time you stop for air...lol PS sorry I couldn’t help myself, I figured we could all use a little levity right now and yes the instructions above will still be good in 2 weeks
  11. Hi Jeff I believe I tried that place once upon a time years ago as a back up because the Roq was full if indeed it is the same place, I seem to remember the parking situation was not ideal. The other knock I had on the place was no direct trail access if the lake is not safe to cross
  12. Call me at room 150 we are headed that way tomorrow just saw you pull in
  13. Coming from a fellow Irishman that knew a few Italians over the years.... Head down to the Central in St Michels des Saints on Thursday night. Might be some local talent putting on a show
  14. That chevreuil looks tres petit for this time of year, I bet the snow is making it hard to find something to snack on. Is there a deer hunting season in your neck of the woods JG?
  15. Somebody help QR out....he is trying to post a picture of the first ride of the year. I can't hold my breath any longer...
  16. Continental breakfast...a good friend of mine calls that a bird breakfast...The night before we took a cab to the Royal, it was worth getting back out for. The garage is handy. I seem to recall my stomach grumbling the whole way down the tracks to LSQ the next morning. Pizza place was closed, damn, off to Senneterre, by the time I got there I think I would have eaten shit on a stick. Maybe that's why the flank steak was so special at Faillon that night. One a side note, I beleive the ballet is across the road from the Nordic. We did not go inside so I can't comment on the caliber of the establishment. Andre and Genevieve are really something at Ombre du Vent in Parent. As indicated in previous replies, they go the distance for sure. Breakfast at the Central with everybody else in town in the morning. I usually get them to deliver food the night before, trick is to indicate the tip will be large. Be careful if the dishwasher lady delivers it though, she's a pretty wild driver.
  17. Maybe try chalets et spa lac st jean instead of chateau roberval, the rest looks good to me
  18. Funny. Guilty on both counts...lol The SQ spent the night in the building across the road. In the morning it was so cold we tried to take a picture of the group on front of the place, but all you see was headlights poking through the smoke and steam coming off the sleds. I will see if I can find it to post again, it think I did years ago.
  19. Agreed, best in March on both counts. Two years ago we pulled off the Gaspe/North Slope trip using the ferry twice. It really was not that bad. Understand about the intrepidation for those who have a Monday morning responsibility that cannot be broken. If the ferry is running as planned, which seemed like a big if last year, the greatest concern would be a large storm. As a point of reference, if I had to choose between the 2, Gaspe would be by far the one I would make a priority. The north slope is pretty bland. Sure the bridge in baie comeau is cool, but the trail itself is rather dull. The highlight was the width of the trail between port Cartier and Sept isles. The rollercoaster ride around Godbout is over rated.
  20. Thinking more about your route. The highest probability on having a good trip to Abitibi using the Cab as a starting place, would be to head north to the repos then west to L'Abitibi through Manawan, you avoid the whole shit show down south that way. Might be a 30 mile rough stretch around Manawan, but once you pop out by Lunics where the othe club takes over it will be smooth sailing. Stay at Meekoos then head west on 63 as previously stated and enjoy the best Quebec has to offer in Abitibi. On your way back east from say... Amos, stay at Faillon, then drop down to Kanawata then back to the truck at the Cab. The Atmosphere in Amos is decent. Heck you might bump into Jim and his wife Mrs. Jamieson having lunch at the Atmoshoere, I met him there once upon a time.
  21. Stayed at Paquin in Belleterre once years ago. Two ladies ran the place. Clean and well fed, but not much to talk about. Definitely do not turn right up 309 to val dor using rapid Sept, that is a misnomer, there is nothing speedy about 309, twisty at best and the dam crossing is a steel deck, hard on the carbides is putting it lightly. For what it's worth, I always take 63 to 386 to 83 and back the same way. As gsx stated, 63 west of 386 can be late getting started and might not be a grooming priority. Although I hear La Bannik in ville marie is worth the trip. If you decide to take 386, when you head left crossing route 117 take it easy on the hills, they are pretty serious, more so than the stretch between Baie Comeau and Godbout every body raves about.
  22. The local that heads through the chics chocs and leads to Murdochville is scenic, bit if it has not been groomed recently it can be rough, we toughed it out a couple years ago and ran into Alain and Krikri at the summit, funny place to say high for the first time.
