  1. Some things have changed in Manawan since my first visit in 1995. A nice new grocery store with gas pumps without cages or locks and the Auberge Manawan that I've only heard good things about.

With that being said some things haven't changed, stray dogs running the streets that look to be starving and kids interested in the outside world and that occasional stare like you have three heads......:shok:

I see you are going to Rabaska too (#3 on map) Has anyone been thru there this year. I have been trying to get reservation there in 10 days, they keep telling me Dominique will call me back?

Go figure, as soon as I hit enter key she called, all set now cant wait.

Maybe there is a mix up in translation? I don't know of a Dominique at Rabaska but they may possibly be referring to Dominique in Clova that maintains the LePine trail from Rabaska to Clova.

The Lepine road is one of my top 3 rides.  I try to hit it every season.  When I came down it last weekend I noticed the loggers are all the way up to km 106.   The pensive is at km 57.  I think the Lepine will not be a viable option for the next 2 or 3 years.   Hopefully when the work is done it will include a new bridge at the top.  The old red steel one is in sad shape. Ideally it would be nice to run it from top to bottom, straight from Clova to Grand Remous, bypassing the new one pictured above.  If and when this does happen,  maybe the members here will be smart enough to support Dominic.  I seem to remember not long ago reading about the Tabarnak being the best food and rooms in Clova, and how much we missed them.  Hypocritical to say how much we love the Lepine road, but say we miss the Tabarnak.   Granted they were nice people, and I wish them the best.  We would swing in for a drink every time, but spend the bulk of the money at Dominic's.  This rant is not directed at you Doonali. It is a purely economic statement to the guys that miss the grooming on the Lepine. How would you like it to spend over $10k to watch the neighbor ride your coat tail for free?

I also like Lepine road for a couple of different reasons. One being the direct route north through some great country from my starting point in Maniwaki.

As far as Dominic, he has always treated my crew well and I support his establishment.

That Lepine trail has been closed for a few years now and not just due to the bridge, it has been always a private trail groomed by Dominique in Clova, no funding from the FCMQ, given that he's bled out and refuses to continue grooming with out any assistance.

Last summer I rode atv through Rabaska and up to that bridge, it was open and we crossed it and continued on to Chemin Lepine then up to Clova. I guess the bridge is open in the summer and closed for the winter seeing there is no grooming going on on the other side.

You got an atv/side x side?

Wanna do some riding up there?

    I do have a SXS..

Would love to do some riding up that way if time permits.

I did speak with Dominic last season and he told me that he was having problems with his small groomer but planned on grooming it if repairs get made. Idk maybe it's his way of saying if I don't get funded then I'm not grooming.

I guess just the small  seasonal fishing cottages remain so I was told last week . I asked Natalie ( owner of Pavilion La Verendrye),,,,  who operates -owns Joncus  now after the fires,   and she said the government. She could have meant  gov owned , but leased out to whoever now . I "think" somebody in Phils 1's gang said the Natalie  has a  99yr lease  on her and husbands   open + operating  Pavillion lodge in the park. Makes sense, big investment on their part.  They are critical to get across 63,  hope all patronize  them. They seem to be doing well, place is great   FMCQ needs to park a tractor and operator at the place . Who ever grooms  the western part of 63 out of Belletere, turns  from around at the Joncus gate and heads back west.

Correct Mike, Natalie did state that they have a 99yr lease operating in the park. Very nice stop. She also told us that it's a 2.5hr drive one way to get supplies for the lodge.
