  1. Try accuweather.ca, the weathernetwork.com and environmentcanada.ca. For the same location all 3 sites will give you a different forecast, but usually you can get an idea from checking the long term forecast what things might be like actually end up being like. Best bet is to look out the window in the morning and see for yourself-
  2. keep us posted- Going to check out the vintage meet for sure. keep us posted- Going to check out the vintage meet for sure.
  3. And you must claim the refund within 10 days of buying your permit..
  4. When you buy your Quebec trail pass there is a 500,000 $ liability coverage that comes with it- HOWEVER if I am not mistaken only quebec residents can claim the refund should you already have you own liability insurance coverage. When you buy your pass all the information is in the paper work you receive with the decal. Having the insurance in the price of the pass means that everybody who buys a pass has coverage.
  5. Bill- See you wear a tek vest. I've been riding with one since 2002. I'm surprised the whole extra protection hasn't caught on more than it has. I still get asked all the time "What's that? How much?" Ohh too expensive..!! I busted a few ribs grass dragging years back and decided it was time to pick one up-Worn one ever since.
  6. Excellent!!! Might have to have a look this weekend.
  7. There are certain exceptions- I'll find the website. I do believe it is only for Quebec registered cars and small trucks. Here: http://www.mtq.gouv.qc.ca/portal/page/port...pneus_hiver#hap Are vehicles from outside of Québec affected by this measure? No, with the exception of certain rental vehicles. The legislative provision applies to vehicles (taxis and passenger vehicles) registered in Québec, as well as to passenger vehicles that are rented in Québec (regardless of where they are registered). What happens if a tire bears both the “LT and “M+S” inscriptions? A tire marked LT can be used in the winter period (until 2014).
  8. Gas prices rise and fall daily in Quebec do be too surprised. Yes 10 cents a liter is a big jump, but anything under 1.00$ is a deal in my books. Was paying 1.59.9 a liter for diesel this summer...
  9. We managed to get on the river by the ultramar, the section behind Price Wilson (going towards Grenville from behind the Walmart) wasn't open so that's why we had to run through the streets. Hopefully with the snow coming things will get better.
  10. Great pic from Montagne Noire- Good to show all the anti sledders that the breathtaking scenery is just another bonus of our sport. Calling for snow this week so things will only get better.
  11. Came down throught there last night. Pine Hill to the west side of north river was good- River crossing by Price Wilson wasn't open. so we drove throught the streets of lachute to get to the other side- Nothing like riding down asphalt in a residential area to give us a bad name- Fortunately we got away with it.Got to the shopping mall and the trail basically stops at the "T" that heads towards st Andre. We off trailed it all the way to the sand pit east of the ultramar on the 158, then got on the north river and headed back towards st Canut. Obviously the trail has not been opened- I'll try and find out what's going on this week. For the past 3 weeks we've been leaving from Terrebone and the trails around there have been excellent- Fusee Blanches get 2 thumbs up from me.
  12. There is a Polaris / Artic cat dealer on the south shore of Montreal in Marieville that rents sleds for the season- The place is called Les Vehicules D'A Cote. http://www.lesvehiculesdacote.com. Seems you can lease a bearcat for the season for about 2500$- They have a good website with prices, however the it does not seem to have been updated lately,so I'd Give them a call (450-460-8889). I'm not sure what location you were looing to rent in, but this dealer is about 35-40 minutes east of Montreal. (Sorry I just saw where you were looking to rent- This place is a bit far from where you were looking)
  13. I know what you mean- I was up there on Sunday. Nicest riding I have done in a while. Real Christmas like with all the snow on the trees. I hope that there wasn't too much damage done with all the rain we had on Monday- Nice photos.
  14. Funny thing about this is anyone that's been in the sport for any length of time can relate to most of those !!
  15. Great news. Crossing lake Mac last year has always been an adventure. Any Idea if the connection from the 43 to the old Relais sous les pins in Barkmere is going to reopen? Was a major detour to get there last year.
  16. Hopefully the crap they are calling for tomorrow won't be as bad- +8 and rain..... Then -8 on Thursday
  17. I did snap a few pictures with my phone- I'll see what they look like and if the're any good I'll post them tonight. First time I decided not to bring my actual digital camera on our first outing. Nothing special. but these were taken in the parking lot of the Galciere- Note the lovely cloud of burning fogging oil lingering around the sled... By the way this sled is for sale if anyone is interested. 2006 switchback 600 HO- 8040 Kilometers- 5500$ PM if interested.
  18. We tried the Lanaudiere area on Sunday- 220 kilometers. Started at the Glaciere, towards the Cabanon, over to Saint Michel- All this had been dragged and was in good shape considering the high traffic on Saturday. From Saint Michel we decided to do the "Tour du Lac Toro"- This was - well a workout- Trail had not been dragged, an atv had gone part way, so following the tracks was the only way minimize hitting the rocks- Once things smoothed out there was about 24" of snow for the last 10-15 kilometers before you hit the Dam. Dam back to Cabanon was dragged and smooth- Snow coverage was acceptable. I actually came up on 2 female moose standing in the trail about 1/2 between the dam and the Cabanon- Quite a site to see how massive a moose can be. Cabanon back to Glaciere, dragged and very few rocks- The area is supposed to get snow all week, and the Tremblant park was opened yesterday- Going to head back up next Sunday and do a bit more scouting to see what's open, what's changed and of course as every year what trails are closed due to "rights of passage" complications. We spoke to a couple that had scheduled a trip to the Monts Valins, but they had cancelled to low snow- I heard they are still in need of more accumulations, which should be coming this week. If you are making a long trip call before hand.
  19. They are calling for a fairly large system this week- Tuesday -Wednesday and Thursday- Might be a real good dumping- As it stands now there isn't really that much. I read 8 to 12". I'll find out more by Monday when the earger ones have got a few miles in. I'll post any news I find.
  20. Greg- I'm planning on going to check out the show on Saturday- I'll be sure to stop by the ADMDQ booth.
  21. I would have to say one of the worst trails is the 318 between Saint Michel Des Saints and Saint Zenon. Basically the trail is always busted up, littered with football sized rocks, the south facing side of the trail on Mont Trinity turns to mud in the spring, then freezes to become a solid ice - mud- sand - rock covered "If you don't have studs your gonna wreck either going up or coming down" trail. Washouts are there as well when there is rain.I think the one time it was nice I can within of inches of having a deer park itself on my cab. Never the less we still take it at least once a year. We always like to have a stop at the top of the mountain as the view of Saint Michel, Lac Taureau and the now closed lumber mill is quite spectacular.
  22. Unfortunately I never met him- I was planning on stopping by the Hotel last season, but we never got around to it. Very sad- He was a real promoter to our sport and wasn't shy to speak his mind. Very sad.
  23. I believe this site is linked to FreedomSledder- I have a feeling that this site unfortunately didn't make it. Too bad it started off with good potential. Nice thing about it it it seemed to be a good bunch of serious members and not people that jump in just to stir up crap.
