This is very good news Ice!

Several solutions have been considered to allow traffic on TQ3 within the territory of the community of Pessamit this winter.

"The new trail that is currently under construction will not be ready this winter. It will just be next winter, "says the prefect of the MRC of Manicouagan, Marcel Furlong.

He adds that there have been "discussions between the band council and the various snowmobile and quad clubs." The Innu Council of Pessamit then issued conditions so that it would be possible to circulate this winter on the old route.

Among them was the presence of two surveillance officers from the community of Pessamit. "They will be patrolling TQ3 in the community over the next 15 weeks," says Furlong.

"There is no connection between the new trail and the existing trail that will be used this winter. All that is being decided right now is for the old trail that was on the territory of the community. The new trail will be outside the community, "says the prefect.

As soon as the clean-up of the debris left over from the December 23 storm is complete, traffic will be possible. Furlong plans to open next week.

It should be noted that the officers who will be hired will not have the mandate to issue statements or fines, but to ensure the good behaviour of the users of this route. Safety signage will also be installed, another condition for the use of the trail.

Finally, the MRC de Manicouagan granted $19,872 in assistance through Innovation et Développement Manicouagan for this project, which totals $24,840.
