viper2
Started our Gaspe loop yesterday from RDL headed down the regional 544 to Pohenegmook with the hope of finding Estcourt Station which is the border crossing into Maine, it's a neat little place and worth checking out on a google search. We then took the 35 east to 548 to Cabano for gas and lunch then up 85 to 548 through Sqatec to 546 and 548 to 5 then went west and to hotel Rimouski for the night. About 200 miles all good trails some running on the dual use logging roads but not bad plenty of lube. Last 2 or 3 miles into Rimouski was basically on grass and ice First pic is picture of gas station in Estcourt Station we are standing in Quebec if we want to go to the gas station we must first go 1/2 mile up the road to customs then come back down Pic 2 is a house that is divided by the international boundary Pic three is the northernmost point of Maine
viper2
Left Rimouski today by 578 toward Mont Joli then took 579 to 587 and picked up 5 just south of Amqui. Gassed up and had lunch at Sainte Irene before heading down 5 to Groomer's clubhouse. Would have liked to take the 587 through Matapedia but it was starting to snow pretty hard so we stayed on 5 to PALC for the night.

mikerider
Nice Rick, I had never seen pics of Escourt Station. I remember when we used to cross into Maine at St. Pamphile, lumber road and one man border crossing. That'll never open again. mike
jak
We used to take a trail from Dickey to St. Pamphile. You say that crossing is no longer open? I just got back into riding this year after an 8 year hiatus, been some changes I guess. BTW these new sleds are amazing, (2015 Renegade X)

viper2
Left the Fraser today and headed east on 5. Starting to get the trails groomed up. We gassed at Grande Rivière and headed to Perce felt like we were boondocking lol lots of drifts not many tracks and few signs. Was a nice sunny day and my wife finally got to see the rock as the last two times we were there it was snowing so hard you couldn't see it. We had lunch at Table au Roland then headed back on 5 and backtracked to the 597 which we saw was freshly groomed earlier. We had hoped to stay tonight at Haute Camp Madeline but after a couple calls we came to the conclusion they are closed for the season. We are camped out at the Hotel Copper in Murdochville. So far great snow conditions and very little ice more snow coming

viper2
Today had hoped to take 5 east toward Mt. St. Pierre to get some views of the St. Lawrence and the Chic Chocs but woke up to fresh snow and low visibility so we headed west to Matane and took the 591 down to 5 then on to Amqui. Took the back door out of Amqui to 587N to 579N to Domaine Valga for the night about 195 miles bad day for pics snowing sideways most of the day but got a couple and some more from yesterday

viper2
Here is a map of our route I apologize for the quality of it I was having a hard time getting a screenshot without the pins showing up that would fit on the screen. I was trying to do this report with my phone as I went and it wasn't as easy as my laptop
mikerider
Rick, you get home okay thru the storm, or did you stop at NY Great to meet you. mike.
viper2
Mike we are in Plattsburgh tonight, roads really were getting slick so we stopped around 4 didn't want to start through the Adirondacks and get caught. Roads were fine until Drummondville then got gradually worse lots of cars spun out in median and eve value tractor trailer. Not a lot of snow on them but were getting icy. It was really great meeting you and I want to thank you for helping get us out of there this morning you went above and beyond to help a fellow sledder. How was your ride today and did you stay warm? mikerider
Brutal cold, just under a 100 miles. Half day of riding and went to the spa for a massage. There is a positive of having no schedule, no destination. Happy hour started early! mike
