Carman
I am looking for some advice and info for a ride we are planning to do next weekend. The plan is to leave Toronto Friday afternoon/evening after work and drive to Ottawa for a late dinner and then a quick 40 minute drive to our staging location on Lac Saint-Pierre just north of Gatineau. We want to do a loop and ride Saturday, Sunday and Monday back to truck and trailer. We want to ride 400-500km/day and we want to try and make it as far north as the 83 on day 1 and then loop back. Any advice on best routes, accommodations, gas/lunch stops and lookouts would be very helpful and appreciated. I have attached a possible route below but I am open to suggestions and alternate routes. Thanks in advance, Carm Edited February 11, 2018 by Carman
mcstar
You could try Clova day 1 (510km) , Poivoirie la Varendrie day 2 (443km) and back to truck day 3 (362km) along the same route you chose, not a lot of choices to stop overnight along that route! Jackstraw
You also have lac Fallon on the 83 about 450 km from your starting point. Nicer stop then Clova
doo4adoo
My only thoughts are the trails are not the fastest until you get more north. Not saying you wont make it but it will be a long day i would leave from at least Maniwaki since the truck ride isn’t significant from Ottawa
Trailblazer
Making it to Lac Fallion might be a bit of a stretch unless you guys have got stamina. Day 1 Forestelle Better suggestion would be the Forestelle in Val d’Or, a lot of the trail system leading to there are fast running trails and if you guys have sleds that can make 200 k on a tank, you can make the Indian reserve from La Domaine by bypassing La Verendrye. Day 2 La Fer a Cheval Day 3 back to the trucks early And in reverse may I suggest this Day 1 Clova Day 2 La Verendrye Day 3 back to the trucks early Geez I think I may have a go sat this one. Good luck guys and get back to us with some trail info.

Phil 1
It's where the old trail goes straight tough to miss but not groomed could be a bumpy mess! Carman
Trailblazer
Nevermind the bumpy mess just hammer down and skip the tops. With all testosterone set aside I suspect you'll encounter the bumps to and from intersections and bridge crossings aside from that it's a free party. Carman
Looks like first day will be Gatineau to Lac Faillon, second day to Village Windigo, and 3rd day home. Where are all the gas stops for day 1; 63 West and 386 North?
Trailblazer
Gas at the Classic in Lytton before heading into the Parc, then La Domaine going through the Parc. It’s a hwy gas stop with restaurant gas and convenient store. Now you have two options from there for gas, one is a stretch 200 k going through the short cut I suggested earlier to get to the Indian Reserve or head down to La Verendrye for gas. Pending on trail conditions and bad weather La Verendrye could be useful. After the Indian reserve you’re good to Louvicourt, you’ll have to go past the intersection for Fallion and up along side of the hwy into Louvicourt. This gas will get you into Fallion. Albieridin
trail 63 will lead you into laverendrye this year.but when leaving there its a bit of a goat path ,maybe 5 miles back to the 386. if bypass is marked go from domaine to kitcisakik for gas.from there you have gas louvicourt, senneterre, lac fallen. Carman
Just deciding whether to take 13 or 322 when leaving the cottage to our first gas stop, which one will be a faster run?
Trailblazer
The 13 up to Maniwaki is a rail bed. Now pending on which trail you'll be leaving Maniwaki on to enter the Parc, if you continue up on the 13 then 322 west you'll need to buy your gas at La Classic in Lytton. If you leave Maniwaki on the 63 fuel up in Maniwaki cause your next gas stop is at La Domaine.
