sledzz got a reaction from PLAYHARD in Gaspe Trip - advice
    Hi Everyone,
This has been asked many times before but i cant seem to find the answer or post. I have read in posts in past years about a person that will organize a saddlebag trip through Gaspe? I was looking at leaving from Rimouski area and travelling east on the 5 across the top and down to Pierce area then back up through Murdochville / Chic Chocs and back up toward 595 and back up to 5 and back to the truck at Rimouski. Will just be myself and my wife. 200 to 250 KM a day seem realistic?

Thanks for any help or direction provided. Happy and safe trails to you all.

I was at the Roquemont tuesday night and left on the sleds Wednesday morning and returned yesterday. Was icy for the first 20 miles as said above, then absolutely perfect. We went up to the Delta in Jonquiere. They we calling for ice pellets this morning in St. Ray and up to a foot of snow at Letape today. Wish i could go back, it was great

So,  we ended up taking the 355 up on Monday AM.  Fresh groom out of St Raymond area for about an hour... lunch at Lac Edward, and then up to Lac Bouchette was pretty good.. a few bumps.  Awesome weather... -5 start and high of +2 or so and sun .. but snow stayed firm.  That would be the weather for all 3 days.. we got very lucky on that front.
There was next to no snow around Lac St Jean on Monday/Tues before the last storm. We stayed shore side at Les Chalets/Spa  Only snow in the hills around it. It was +6 on Monday there so they lost a lot, some fields were 90% mud with the only snow to be found on the sled trails from constant grooming..... yet riding up in the hills it was just fine.
The 23 on Tues south of Mt Apica to L'Etape and further south was absolute gold!  Sunny blue skies, and not a bump to be found ( other than getting gas in L'Etape).  Lots of traffic around Mt Apica area in the AM and at the relay for lunch .. but pretty quiet further south later in the day.  As good as it gets!! ... warm but cool enough to have snow dust in the trail still and a flat and open as anyone could ask for.   One of the rare trails where I could have used more HP out of my 800 Poo.
Toured closer to Quebec City on Wed towards Mt St Anne area.... way too many roads and stop signs for my liking, but a few nice areas as well... then a full day in the truck for the Thursday snowstorm.   100% successful trip and no mechanical issue for the 7 sleds.

Great post, nice to follow along with all the great photos. Do you use a GoPro type camera for all these pictures? Surely you arent stopping every time to take a picture? If it is a GoPro type camera, do you have a remote button or something to trigger the camera?

    Cheers and happy, safe trails.

We always go up the 23 and back down on 355 through Lac Bouchette. Nice wide fast forestry roads for the most part. We rode up 23 last thursday and back down on Sunday, smooth sailing all the way.

Left Auberge Drakkar in Shawinigan up to Auberge Eva for one night in Lac Bouchette up and around and down to Club Odanak for one night north of Latuque and back down to Roqmount for one night in St. Raymond and back across to Drakkar. All trails were dynamite with the usual bumpy sections leading up to rivers / water crossings and thin snow in and around urban areas. We broke trail coming down 73 on Friday with up to a foot on new snow.
Two thumbs up to Reggie at Drakkar, clean large rooms, secure parking, good breaky, and very accommodating. Auberge Eva also 2 thumbs up with large clean new rooms and delicious food and cold beer on site and Roqmount also very good and convenient with clean rooms, secure sled parking and good food and cold beer on site.
