Grampsledder got a reaction from PLAYHARD in Heated socks or insole heaters
We use the adhesive toe warmers when snowmobiling. On really cold days we change them at lunch. Work well. Pam uses Hotronics in her ski boots-a chargeable battery plugged to a boot insole. They work well for skiing but might be a little cumbersome for snowmobiling. Good luck.

We do a lot of the things mentioned when starting. We’ve also carried a forgetaboutit lock on the trails for years. Lock the sled together at night. So far we’ve had no trouble.

It is like out running a bear with your buddy, you don't have to be faster then the bear, just your buddy. You just have to do enough to make your sled or sleds harder to steal then others in the parking lot. A big chain or cable lock system connecting two or more sleds together increases the odds of you avoiding the bear.

The north shore mountains are spectacular. In my opinion they are the highlight of the Gaspe. You shouldn’t miss them.

The Mafia blocks for truck corral at the Delta were moved for the grand opening of the Boston Pizza
The truck corral will be back in place shortly

Hi Jack and Sandi-we are interested to hear about the secure parking at the Delta. Is the corral gone because there isn’t enough snow?
Sandi should love the 600R. I love my short track. You lose a little in floatation but they are so easy to ride! Enjoy your trip!

If you touch the line it will tell you exactly when it was groomed by what machine, etc.

Roller coaster section last winter. Pam didn’t want to get any closer to the edge.

Grampsledder reacted to Trailblazer in Carleton/Nouvelle Orange Trail
I inquired about that loop at the Drummondville show with the folks at the Gaspesie kiosk. That orange trail looping above Carelton is a groomed and maintained trail, when you reach the apex of that loop the trail branching off leading up to the 595 is a non groomed and non maintained trail due to a bridge that is closer to the 595 that can not support the weight of the Groomer any longer, trail is marked and sleds are going through but it’s an offtrail route.

Has anyone ridden the orange trail from Carleton/Nouvelle area to La Cache? What’s it like? Do they groom it? Doing some planning for our Gaspe trip in March (our 8th to the region). Thought we might try some new terrain. Appreciate any first hand experience from prior years. Bring on the snow.

Trails were a 10 again today. Some bumps in places but not enough to rate. The hills started about 20 miles out of Baie Comeau. There were a few roller coaster sections where you couldn’t see over the peak. You had to pay attention here. Half of our group loved the hills. The other half loved the wide open trails for the last 100 miles. Some are headed up to see the white trail early before we return to Baie Comeau.

Think about the Groomer at night when the trail is icy
a lot of respect to those individuals

Hey Russ,
Glad you had a good trip.
Abitibi has an awesome network of trails, not much on the scenery front.
If you need some pointers shoot me a msg.
Safe travels

Great shot! Most pics don't depict the butt-pucker-factor!
And some of the best spots out there aren't the best for stopping!
Well done!

There is plenty of snow in this region if you’re thinking of a trip. The new snow will reinforce the base. The exception is near La Malbaie, the snow in some of the fields was thin, very wet, and brown. It will go quick with a warmup. We will start in Escoumins or Forestville next time and shoot for Havre St Pierre, and try some of the local trails. Planning Abitibi for next year-always weather permitting.

Powder day today. Left Escoumins and had second tracks. 12-18” snow. Ungroomed almost all day. Great way to end!

Great day, great trails. Timmy Hortons for lunch twice in one trip. Snow held off until 2:30 and by 3:30 it was a whiteout. Powder day today. The 850 Renegades will be breaking trail. Destination Fairmont Richelieu via the 383/83.

Beautiful ride from Les Escoumins to Baie Comeau. Trails were a 10. Add blue skies and it was a great day. Wide open riding to Forestville. Soft snow but freshly groomed. The trails had 2-3’ banks in places. It was twisty after Forestville in and out of power lines for a while. Still great snow. It opened up just before Baie Comeau. The big bridge reminded us of a roller coaster. One of the machines was hesitating at speed so we spent an hour at the dealer. Great dealer-they were going to work on it overnight and gave Arthur a ride home. Such service! Stayed at the Manoir last night. Nice place. Sept Iles tonight. Looking forward to seeing these hills.
