Now there is a real possibility of a vaccine in a few weeks....I am hoping it is true ...and that people who get the vaccine will be able to travel again. I will be feeling like a 12 year old going to Disney world on summer break if we can cross that border to ride by Jan 1st!! I love riding my bike, hunting with my Lab and chasing trout with my fly rod, but nothing seems to re-kindle my spirit or recharge my soul quite like Quebec's majestic winters and the camaraderie out  on the trail..Last season started a few weeks from now...here is to hoping, right now it is all we have!!

    Hi everybody!
It's very hard to predict how this next season will go but I want to share here with you the latest news I got on last monday from www.snowmobilecountry.ca organisation that represents the Lanaudière/Mauricie regions for snowmobiling:
    - The snowmobiles clubs in our regions all intend to open and are currently in season's  preparation (ok, we already knew this one)
-Near all the hosts/Outfitters/Restaurants in the area who  usually receive sledders intend to be in operation for the coming season: This is very good news because with the sanitary measures I was afraid that some throw in the towel before starting and we would end up with big holes in the trail system/services. No one can currently predict the future and what will happen precisely but with what we currently know on 19 october (borders that can be closed among other things ..) our service providers intend to operate anyway this season knowing they will obviously need  to adjus to health measures and the context of the moment which will certainly give them some challenges.
-At the trail level, not too much change except that there will be forestry activity in the Mastigouche Wildlife Reserve but trail #23 which cross the reserve and link Lanaudière with Mauricie will be open and closure doesn't seem too restrictive. We can see on the interactive map the sections in red that will be closed this season https://www.snowmobilecountry.ca/en/interactive-map/
-Unlike the FCMQ, snowmobile country is printing a paper map this season! It is currently in production and should be available at early/mid-November. The dealers will have some and they will also  mail some to those who ordered them last year. If you are interested in having this paper map version 2020/21 there is a link on their site to request it at the bottom of the page: https://www.snowmobilecountry.ca/en/maps-brochures/
-it's the last news I have for the moment.  I certainly know that the  canadian border closure is the main bug for many of you at the moment and it is very bad but the sledding season is mainly from January to March and there is still plenty of time since the best of the season for this to change.
What we know for sure at the moment is that the trail opening underactions/preparations here are going well 👍

Got the sleds covid proofed tonight.  Should help ensure they don't get sick when they meet an overzealous rider coming at us on the wrong side of the trail getting within our 6' bubble.  Will also help when we can't predict how busy the secure sled compounds at our favorite hotel will be in two weeks time.  Maybe I should start an online business selling them.

Let's go out to eat, 2020 style...
    1. Arrive at restaurant, fish three month old single-use surgical mask out of car's filthy cupholder (still slightly sticky from this morning's 84oz diet Pepsi).
    2. Strap up with three month old single-use surgical mask.
    *MAGICAL ANTI-GERM BARRIER ENGAGE!!!*
    3. Proceed into restaurant, opening door with same handle grabbed by 200 people so far today.
    4. Hostess has immediate seating for your party of three. Walk past entire restaurant of unmasked people. It's ok, they're sitting.
    5. Sit down.
    *SEATED ANTI-GERM FORCEFIELD ENGAGE!!!*
    6. Safely within your anti-germ forcefield, remove mask. Browse menu while making relaxed inhales of the same recirculated AC air previously inside the lungs of the 200 people that also grabbed the door handle.
    7.  Waitress drops off drinks bare handed.
    8. Grab drink with your bare hand. Sip leisurely, secure in knowing you're within your anti-germ forcefield of seatedness.
    9. Too many drinks. Need to pee. Don the magical anti-germ barrier mask as you leave your anti-germ forcefield of seatedness.
    10. Walk past 40 unmasked restaurant patrons. Open bathroom with same door knob grabbed by 100 other people so far today.
    11. Return to table past same 40 unmasked restaurant patrons.
    12. Remove mask. Once again safe in your anti-germ forcefield of seatedness. Waitress takes your sweaty drink glass with her bare hand, refills, hands back to you. You accept with your bare hand. Grab some bread and eat it. Same hand. Yum Yum.
    13. Meal complete. Mask on. Walk past 40 unmasked patrons. Make full body contact with at least 4 people waiting at the hostess stand as you squeeze your way back to the door - no matter, they're all also wearing their magical anti-germ barriers.
    14. Grab exit handle, which you are now the 220th person of the day to touch. Eating out successful.
    15. Breathe a sigh of relief knowing that even after leaving the protection of your home and venturing out into the scary world of the public, you are essentially sterile thanks to your state approved methods of magical germ mitigation.”

Hey Mike, well already started my plan B, hoping the SNOW GODS will corporate. I’ll be in Fort Kent between Xmas and New Years hopefully riding. Will just be a 4 day ride to get back into Snowmobile mode!!! I have to tell ya.... man do I need to just get LOST on my sled. Working during this Covid thing is DRAINING. Thinking I might just buy the season pass and just ride the GREAT STATE OF MAINE this year.If the border happens to loosen up during the season, I’m thinking of exploring NB a lot more
Hope a lot of us US members on here can cross paths with each other on our Maine trips.
    Stay well. Chris

Sitting along an Upper Peninsula highway waiting to catch speeders, a Michigan State Police officer saw a car puttering along at 28 M.P.H. He thought to himself, "That car is just as dangerous as a speeder."
So, he turned his lights on and pulled the car over. Approaching the vehicle, he noticed there were 5 elderly ladies, two in the front and 3 in the back, wide eyed and looking like ghosts.
The driver was obviously confused. She said, "Officer, I don't understand, I wasn't going over the speed limit! What seems to be the problem?"
"Ma'am," the officer said, "you should know that driving well under the speed limit can also be dangerous.”
"Under the speed limit? NO SIR! I was doing exactly 28 miles an hour," the old woman said proudly.
The officer, holding back a chuckle, explained that 28 was the highway route number, not the speed limit. A bit embarrassed, the woman grinned, thanking the officer for pointing out her error.
"Before I go Ma'am, I have to ask, is everyone OK? These women seem badly shaken and haven't uttered a word all this time.”
"Oh! they’ll be alright in a minute. We just got off Route 129.”

I don’t know who wrote this but SOMEONE FINALLY put into words what many of us have been thinking and I couldn't agree more!   I’m sick of covid-19. I’m sick of blacks vs. whites. I’m sick of Democrats vs. Republicans. I’m REALLY sick of the media. I’m really sick of the wearing a mask debate. I’m sick of no one being allowed to think what they want & feel how they do without offending someone. I am sick of the people who are out there jumping on the bandwagon just to spread hatred. And start riots, looting & destroying others properties. I am sick of blaming the world for the sins of a few. We’re one race - the human race. You want to support Trump? You do it! It’s your choice! You want to support Biden? You do it! It's your choice! You want to believe in God? You do it! It's your choice. You want to believe in magical creatures that fly around & sprinkle fairy dust to make life better? Awesome... you do it!! BUT how about being MATURE enough to be able to deal with the fact that everyone doesn’t have the same exact mind-set as you. Having our own mind-set is what makes us all individuals and beautiful. If you can’t handle that fact....oh well! I don’t have to agree with everything you believe in & YOU don’t have to agree with me. It's your choice! It's my choice! Just be a decent human being.
