  2. just a note to all to watch for fields with water and rivers. We just came back and while the main interior was good the area in the Matane to RDL was poor. Last night about 10-15 miles east of Mt Joly we came into a field with some sleds stuck in heavy slush. We were able to skip it but with the recent thaw and rain some fileds & rivers are now dangerous. A few miles further my buddy came over a crest to where a river is and in the dark plowed into the edge of ice where the shore line section had broken off. The ange of appraoch and night time riding gave us no warning. Ne was thrown about 20' onto the ice and his front end is done. He is OK and with the help of locals we were able to have our machines trailered to a local hoten for teh night and drove up to our truck in RDL this am for a very resonable fee. I will post more of the trip later in the Gaspe section but jut remember conditions will change quickly in some area with water at this time of the year and we need to be safe.
  3. I'm heading off to the Gaspe area next week and will be leaving out of RDL. Looking to run the 1st day to around Mt Ste Ann by trail 5, next day want to carry on the 5 to gaspe, perce etc and then find a place. The followingday open to suggestions of either taking the 5 on or cutting i and up to Murdockville and going through the middle. While i've only been down that way once we stayed at motels generally but would like to see if there are any good out fitters to stay along the route. Any feed back would be appreciated. Thanks Mike
  4. I have not been up that way for a while now. However my prefence is the Mt Pellier area. Trails are bigger & straigher overall and bring you into the larger snowmobile areas. I went the other way in the past but alsp will depend on where your destination is. Mike
  5. Groomer, i hope all is well. Just curius on the total amount of snow so far this winter in the general Gaspe region. I have not heard of any big storms on the news but i am sure you are getting some. Would you say it is more, less or about the same as usual for this time of the yesar. My buddy and i will be coming down the 29th of feb for the loop, hope to find your hang out this time round. Thanks Mike
  6. Has anyone been up through the park. i heard they were logging again and just wantint to know if this the case or not and if so extent of logging and conditions. Thanks
  7. While it will likely change (as it always does for the worst) as of this AM the weather network is forcasting 50+ cm on tuesday and 10+ wednesday for Clova. If my sled was in i would go for a run! Happy Day!
  8. I assume you are ordering all the luggage options and the pink kit?
  9. Have not found any one yet but i want to leave early in the week to do the circuit and end up at the gathering and then home. If you want to head down early to do the circuit let me know. Mike
  10. great to hear. Let us know when there is enough to come up the Lepine Road for an early season run. Any change expected to the trail this year?
  11. I don't have a plan yet. Was waiting to see what opportunities may arise. I would have to look at the map to see where your trails will take you and possible meet up with you on the trail. In the perfect world i was thinking of starting the wednesday out of RDL and going downn the coast and cutting through to Murdockville and then up the center and into groomers area. Never been down the middle yet and that would allow good ttime to arrive for saturday and then depart back on the sunday to trucks. Let me know. Bill thanks for the offer. I know it would be a fun run down from the Sagenay and crossing over to the Gaspe but i do that area later in the season.
  12. Is any one interested in heading up a few days earlier to do the loop? I would like to come and put some faces to the names that i keep reading about but would like to do some of the great trails in the area as it is a bit of a haul just for the weekend. Let me know if there is any interest as i would be on my own. Wife not intested and buddy unreliable. Thanks
  13. I did speak to a developer this spring who has the Royal Laurential Golf course. His development is on the linear park just south of Mt Tremblant. He indicated that the by pass will be open this coming winter. He said he had worked hard to make it happen with others and said it was a great piece. Time will tell but it was promising to hear this as i enjoyed the options this offers. Mike
  14. it worked all of us wondering what the heck is burning, unfortunely in another month or so this maybe true. In the mean time Happy B Day
  15. went out sunday just north of Mont Laurier, up the Lepine Road. Wanted to go to Clova but the darn Relais was closed for gas. Still got 160 miles for the day. Was fun considering it was mid April.
  16. Just came down it yesterday, it was the best trail over the last 3 days we rode. Was a bit slushy-rough the last 10 miles coming into St Raymond but other wise had been groomed and great coverage. Still decent coverage in to the HI. 93 to Mont Valin not bad, some icy areas towards the ski hill. 93 further to Sacreur ceur had just received about 1' + of snow but had not been groomed yet so was rough but would expect it to be grommed. Hugh volume of sleds out this past weekend given the time of year and spectacular weather. Mike
  17. Its my first time goung up this way and i was told that there is a River to cross and at this time of the year it maybe open. Any one have any recent knowledge of this and if it is open are there options to get back to the truck. We are looking to leave friday am and back sunday night. Was thinking of staying at the Roqemount? unless some one has better suggestions. Thanks Mike

  19. Just looking at Globalstar Sat phones, this is not a bad deal, will need to see what the pricing is after the one year but i know i used to have a sat phone and just paid the basic monthly fee. Stopped it a couple of years back because i felt i didn't need it any more. Got a concussion this fall and now starting to re-think my safely on the trail. http://ca.globalstar.com/en/index.php?cid=1250
  20. is this a fur thong? The second post with the fur triange, coundnt get the reply on it.
  21. The jacket i have now is great. Its an older Arctic Cat leather. I like the many pockets it has and the large ones on the front where i put my maps. Has a pocket for small flash light, one i use for my leatherman and others as well. It has a zip in liner with various weights available which is great depending on the time of the year & weather. What i don't like about it anymore is the weight. They are heavy! The other item i would like changed is the collar. In the old days, or back in the 70's & 80's many of the coats had huge soft collars that could be opened up more to seal as needed for a wearer. Now there are small and frankly do little to keep the wind out & away from the neck. Good quality zippers is a must as i once had one give out and it was a brutal ride home. I had considered talking to Angora to custom make me a suit of my dreams which might be a part leather part nylon that they do in some models. This is my thoughts.
  22. Just checked the info Gaspe site and many of the trails that were open and good are showing closed. Any one what what happended or is it an error?

Hoping for mid to late february and could meet in the area. Have done part of the area before and would like to do some of the interior trails this time round. Any interest email me at mrappraiser@rogers.com Thanks Mike
