182ray got a reaction from nyskidooerinnewhampshire in Jackman Maine to Quebec City help/suggestions
This is the first snowmobile club house after crossing the border if they're open you can get trail passes there
https://chaudiereappalaches.com/en/travel-quebec/la-beauce/saint-theophile/club-motoneigistes-liniere-marlow/snowmobile-club/
This where the shuttle will pick you up http://hotelnormandin.com/accueil-hotel-bernieres/
This is where the shuttle will drop you off Hotel Motel Colibri, Quebec 8516 Boulevard Hamel, Quebec, QC, G2G 0H8, Canada, 888-950-5062
I think it's about $35 CA per sled
The Signature Hotel is a good place to stay & depending on the how your crew rides you should be able to make it there in one day including the shuttle across the bridge.
Crossing the border from Jackman is very convenient on a sled you drive right up as if you were in a car. Have you passports handy & hopefully no one in your crew has anything on their record that would prevent them from entering Quebec.
This is a great area to ride. Have fun & be sure to give a ride report.

Oh no, it was just regular USA Aluminum!!
LOL
Which is mined in Brazil, shipped to Canada to be processed and then sent to the US for final Assembly.

I think what has been overlooked in this Team Gutz saga is the irony of your custom fabricated aluminum bumper failing on the aluminum bridge
must not have been Saguenay aluminum
😆

182ray reacted to smclelan in To off trail riders who can’t stay on the trail
Track length and lug depth are not the problem, disrespectful for private land or landowner wishes by 2% of the riders is our enemy. Whether is be tearing up a field or loud exhaust, the very few impact the majority of responsible riders.

182ray reacted to towing in Joliette/St-Donat Black Mountain photo-ride report 26january2019
My sweetheart being back from her trip, she accompanied me riding yesterday to see the Black Mountain of St-Donat. We made a nice big loop of 235 miles following the route below
The bad weather last Thursday (January 24th) left some ice in the trees in the south of my area. Here on trail # 43 near home in St-Thomas
We took the #3 trail westbound. Beautiful hard and fast trail, a bit hard (-17C this morning) so I lowered a scratchcher for security but not really necessary.
Here a river in St-Roch l'Achigan area. A little scary but it's just some water that had risen on the ice and frozen there, very solid. We crossed several rivers and they were all in good condition, this one being the worst
In St-Lin direction, still some ice in the trees and perfect trail
We passed through St-Calixte ...
and ride to the #33 trail that we took in west direction(northwest)
Here on the lake at Ste-Marguerite Lake Masson
We had not seen any trace of ice for a while but here a little north of Esterel there is a still icy area. So beautiful with the sun!
And going north towards St-Donat it quickly becomes a white painted scenery
the beauties of nature ...
We turned before St-Donat to get the local trail to the Mountain
Here the view of the summit taken from the top of the belvedere ...
It was our first time on a clear day. The view is simply amazing
The gray jays were there again always as hungry
We spent quite a bit of time at the summit as we improvised a dinner/snacks there. Cold for the fingers but it allowed us to enjoy the place a little longer. No it's not one of her finger that the bird is eating but a piece of saucage!!!
We then continued on the other side of the mountain(north)
the north side trail is also really nice to ride/see and the snow is really good
We crossed the Archambault Lake to return to St-Donat and refuel
And then returned to the east by the #33 trail, first part was somewhat bumpy but we met the dozer there
We passed the Coin Lavigne, joined the #63 trail and ride back down to Ste-Émilie de l'Energie
Where we crossed another dozer
We stopped to have a good meal break around 5:00 PM in St-Jean de Matha before continuing and come back home around 7:30 PM with a total of 235 miles on the dreammeter.
In the end, the bad weather of last week has not damaged the trails and on the contrary had increase the snow to the ground. In fact the snow is impressive especially on the north side, we are really spoiled this season with a really better than average snow cover.
The best of the season is now, don't wait because it is too cold: it's winter !!! go out and enjoy, it's now that it is happening !!!
You can still take a look here to see trails details in the trail condition section or use the rest of the site as a planning helper for your next trip: https://www.snowmobilecountry.ca/en/conditions/

So in short what's HOT???
Sincerely your snowmobile buddy,

182ray got a reaction from Glenngo in Oxygen Helmets
They must not have had any test riders that wear glasses. I've worn the helmet for 6 days in temps from +25f to -25f the only way I could keep my glasses from fogging was to crack the shield. I didn't pay $600 to ride around with the shield cracked. The worst $600 I ever spent.

Ginger & I have stayed at Le Portage & we liked it. The room we had was recently renovated & breakfast was delicious. We would stay there again.

182ray reacted to Byfrost in Rimouski today
Starting today from Rimouski, around -15 to start, heading toward Amqui. Trails were excellent from RDL. A few thin spots through the open farmer fields. Stopped at the Arctic Cat dealers for a quick handle bar heat repair. Fast and efficient thankfully.

182ray reacted to mikerider in 2019 Riviere du Loup Area Trail Conditions
Today rode West with JAK and met GKW at St. Pamphile and the 3 of us rode back to the hotel together. Conditions great!
In big field GKW pulled alongside at trail speed and gassed his new 900T. Wheelie and gone bye-bye.
New Choko coat (Adventurer): 2 big thumbs up. Toasty warm, so well designed and so well made. Saguenay Bill has been trying to get me into one of these coats for years. You would think by now I would know to listen to him. Glad to know it was my old coat and not my old age making me cold.

182ray reacted to kmkm in Oxygen Helmets
4 new oxygen helmets in our group, collectively 3000 miles, if the visor lasts the first few days all good, seems like the inner heated part of visor comes unglued( 2of 4) . We rode over 500 miles this weekend with 3 of them in minus 25. The experience can only be described as looking out a picture window with zero wind or leaks, almost too warm inside helmet. Control has to be on 3 when cold out, you cannot drive with it cracked open, some ice forms on the inside in the very lower part. If you stop on the trail in very cold weather and open the visor sometimes you cannot get it to click down again from ice buildup at seal area. Lots of internet doom and gloom about these new helmets, BUT. Truly remarkably better than previous BVS or modular. Once they get visor sorted you will see lots on the trails. Hey Ray you should be good with 2 not 6. no worries ours all good now.
