Jackstraw
Me and Eric arrived at the Escapade Sat. Afternoon . Saddled up and head to La Glaciere for the night. Trails in great shape for a Sat afternoon snowing most of the way. The place was empty for a Sat . Day 1 left for the Barrage Gouin through St Michelle up the 33 lunch at repos, jammed as usual. Up the Kanawata express sweet as could be into the Gouin befor dark. Day 2 left the Barrage for St Felician. Snowed the whole way trails great. Lunch at relais 22 135 miles took 32 liters with 8 to spare. No fuel in wemo, lot not even plowed. The 83 in great shape . Little tough to see the trail in the burn section east of wemo due to snow and drifts. Tonight at the du jardin. Tomorrow up into valins then? We shall see Those icemans stickers are showing up, seen 3 all ready! Out for now

Tbone
Hi dooright- We're thinking of taking the ferry in about 2 weeks. Can you tell me, do we need reservations ahead of time for the sleds or can we purchase at the ticket office the day of departure?
Scranton1
Hi dooright- We're thinking of taking the ferry in about 2 weeks. Can you tell me, do we need reservations ahead of time for the sleds or can we purchase at the ticket office the day of departure? The ferry is about the only thing in Quebec that I would make a reservation a day or two in advance.... Or call to get a gauge how busy it looks... We were shut out a few years back and had to catch the next ferry the next day out of godbout vs Baie come We never thought it would be booked this time of year
dooright
As Scranton posted , it's a good idea. As you can see on the schedule , waiting to take the next boat could take some time . Godbout is 55 miles by trail more north of Baie Comeau.
Jackstraw
Day3 left st Felician around the North side of the lake, Taking 93 and too many locals to keep track. Passed a broken down groomer on the 93 Could just squeeze by it. Trails all just groomed. Or recently. Real nice. The only rough trail was the Bras Louis Totally wind blown and drifted. Now at the km31 for the night. Both 1200 's Purring like kittens . Headed down the 93 or the pelchat trail to les escoumins Then maybe to the casino. I think pipeman may be here tonight also. Couple photos, kinda cold to be snapping pics. Till tomorrow
Tbone
thanks for the advice dooright. We will book the ferry in advance for sure! We have aspirations to make it up to sept isles this time. Never been there. Riviere du Loup to Matane, ferry across to godbout, to sept isles then back down to Quebec, trailer across and back to RDL.

iceman
If you're taking the Pelchat trail can you tell me where you will be buying gas before entering it and where you will be buying gas out of it and the mileage between gas stops. Thanks JG Going From Mt Valin then to Pel Chat. You Can Top off at Chapelle or KM 31 if you need before going over the Pel Chat.On the other end you need to go into Escoumins to get the gas right next to Hotel Pel Chat. Then take a little gas at Chapelle or KM 31 on the return and fill up at Passion QC(ski area) From the Gas pump at the Passion QC (valinouet ski area) to Escoumins pump is 230KM. Hope that helps JG Edited January 28, 2014 by iceman
scorpionbowl
At passion now, just did the pelchat/93 loop. Everything up here is like jackstraw said, windy, drifted and less than ideal. Lucky for jack, we passed the groomer leaving Sacre Couer headed north. We had a lovely 3 miles of freshly groomed trail, I would guess its perfect all the way to the warmup hut now. Pelchat seemed recently groomed before the drifts, so it is was it is for a while. FYI, we took gas at coronet and headed up 3 to pelchat straight to Chapelle, 110 miles, no gas. The sign makes you think it's 130 miles, but it's also gps confirmed, 110, no missed turns.
Jackstraw
Day 4 left Km31 where thinking about taking the Pelchat trail down to Escoumins but when we got to to the trail it looked drifted and ungroomed. After Scorpionbowls post about the the groomer headed up the 93 it was a no brainer. The first 15 miles of the 93 was also drifted and rough , once we passed the warming but it turned into the super highway I remember! Sweeeeet! Had early lunch in Tadoussaic before the ferry. The TQ3 on the other side was mint, That trail can be a disaster when rough in the twistys. Had to head to the doo dealer in Clermont for some coolant Eric's loosing it somewhere. Tonight we are at Haute Gorges, nice place, could do without the 11 mile donkey path to get there! Met Pipeman at the Km last night great talking to you and your buddy Chris. Tomorrow we head North again up the 83 towards Valins again. Temps are much better today! Off to dinner Edited January 29, 2014 by Jackstraw

Jackstraw
Day 5 left the Haute Gorges, took the 3,83, local up to l anse st jean to 383 then 83 to chambord. For the night at the Chalets Spa. Holy crap is it windy after a great day to be out. Finally warmed up a bit, trails all absolutely perfect! Little more traffic today. Trails abit thin and icy around Jonquire. Time to start heading for the truck, down to st Raymond tomorrow. Don't know if we should take the 355 down or 23, I guess will decide in the morning.
