  1. rode that section between Baie comeau and Godbout a couple times about 10 years ago. If memory serves me correct it's about 60 miles. I certainly wont ever forget it as "special" or "unique" is definitely a way to describe it. Roller coaster is a better way to describe it. The only trail I can ever remember being on in my life that mile after mile you have butterflies in your stomach from all the steep up and downs, some of which are very short distances between them. Makes me want to go do it again...LOL
  2. funny shit Gutz...... Got a GOOD chuckle out of your comments
  3. o.k. i give up. how did you get a pic from Chapais, Mt Valin & Windigo all today? LOL....
  4. I'll bet the bunkhouse at LeDomaine is available. Cheap, decent, shorter drive and recently groomed from Leverendrye Lodge all the way up to Valdor via Kitcisakik
  5. Feel for ya Jack....been there done that myself before...on the other hand....look at the bright side....your lucky you even got a motel room if there was a hockey tournament in town....been there done that as well too....LOL
  6. Bob, how do you get away without registering in your home state (and thus no plate or registration) ? thought i read that in Quebec a FCMQ pass alone is not enough and that the machine needs to be registered/tagged to somewhere as well
  7. Was it at their little shack out there on the trail? A nice vinyl sided white one with heat i remember about 3 years ago heading towards the 22 one mid morning coming upon that Relais and it was about -25 out. pulled over to take a break and when I opened the door it was liike 75-80 degrees in there. Literally a 100 degree difference..... sure was nice..........
  8. The one I remember was like 40-45ish and fairly thin with dark brown/black hair past the shoulders
  9. Pretty darn sure there are. It would be a right hand turn off the 83 if you were coming from Wemo. its like 20 miles before the "22"
  10. Yeah that cabin rocks, stayed in it last year twice. Kinda small but worked out well for 4 of us Martine was nice enough to give us a carafe of coffee to take over so we had it in the cabin for early morning LOL ......about staying at Stephanie's cabin.....LOL
  11. ombre du Vent in Parent is newer style log cabins (there is 3 or 4 of them) with upstairs/downstairs, satelite tv, phone, kitchenet. internet and SUPER clean and reasonably priced. Wouldn't even think about staying elsewhere in Parent since we found this a couple years ago. http://www.ombreduvent.com/
  12. Also gas at Lac Truite (right on trail) about 25 miles before Belleterre. It's a pricey 2.50 a liter so just a splash to get you peace of mind
  13. Didnt stay, but ate lunch. They have fantastic food. I checked out the rooms and they are fairly small and modest but VERY clean. Gas was 2.00 litre there but guy said it was super and just had a delivery recently.
  14. Well there is the Leverendrye Lodge in the park........ too bad Joncas isn't around anymore. Was by there two weeks ago today and took a break out front by the totem poles and log archway
  15. Came down from Matagami a couple weeks ago and found the gas station and restaurant had 4ft of snow all around it and we were on fumes. Gimped into St Felix and no shit the Polaris ProS 800 in our group took 1 liter more than what the manual says it holds....LOL as I remember the trail came right down the side of the bldg but no more and possibly they are just closed for the winter now.
  16. jack I wouldn't even think of heading towards Ville Marie, go to Lasarre area. Rode Thursday from Rouyn down to near there and over to Belleterre for the night and it was a "scratchy" ride at best Even from Belleterre to Lac Truite on Friday was almost no lube. Much better after that all the way to LeDomaine Matagami and Lasarre area were the best on our trip especially the trails north of LeSarre like Normetal and Vilboise area safe travels to you
  17. Unbelievable !!! Your very lucky to have gotten that pic that way and thanks for sharing it !! I'v only encountered them 3-4 times in all the years riding up there. Chapais/Chibig area M20 trail between Mattawin/Repos Leverendrye Park
  18. How the heck did you get that pic??? They don't even look startled. They usually don't even give you an opportunity to get the camera out. i saw one on the 63 trail about 30 miles west of LeDomaine on Friday. Off the trail and into the woods like lightning.
  19. Beuatiful report as usual Alain !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! reading it from my bed at Hotel Matagami. We had a 15 day today on a 1-10 scale of riding up here from Valdor. The east side trail 396 was FANTASTIC. Will think of you when we pass by the Amosphere tomorrow. Was at that intersection in the Leverendrye park taking a break yesterday and we talked about you and how we met there. God speed my friend
  20. hey Stei, welcome to Quebec Rider. I too am from Rochester area. Currently up in Quebec sitting at the Hotel Matagami and the temp is -2 farenheit rode from Valdor today via Barute and Senneterre/quivilion up the east side trail 396 (going down the west side tomorrow to Amos then over to LeSarre for the night) 200+ miles, saw three other sleds all day and the trails were a 15 on a 1-10 scale some of the best riding I have ever done and have been coming to QC almost 20 years heres wishing you continued recovery and health !!!!!!!! Chris Honeoye, NY
  21. SRSchang, will be in Val d'Or at the Forestel as well on Sunday night. Look for us it would be nice to meet you. 3 of us , Black Polaris ProS 800, one older 1200 Doo and a new Blizzard 1200 Doo. Two from NY and older 1200 from Vermont
  22. Anybody have any recent real time experience on the trails in downtown Mt Laurier ? All I'm getting from talking to people at Hotels and dealer are that "it's a little thin around town but better when you get out" i guess that goes without saying but I haven't seen ANY groomer activity on the interactive map for weeks now around town and has me concerned. supposed to go up this Saturday and leave the truck for 5 days. Two warm days this week (and possibly next week) have me more worried than usual....LOL.... TIA
  23. Always had good luck at the Governeur in Shawinigan. great rooms and parking lot in back
  24. called Lecabanon today & the Repos & Matawin all 3 said they got 7-8 inches But was also drizzeling there most of the day and should turn back to a little more snow tonight.
  25. Just a heads up. Pulled the rig into LeCabanon on the evening of 12/26. Place was full as well as the parking lot. Thieves came in at 4 a.m. (In 20 below temps no less) and cut the locks off 3 or 4 trailers till they found one from Pennsylvania that had two sleds in it. They drug them out (a Polaris 600 & 800) and the 800 with only 100 miles on it had the key in it. They cut the chain Dennis has where you pull your truck in and drove the sled (two guys on it) down the road towards the 131. Why they didn't just drive the sled thru the concrete barriers is beyond me unless they were thinking they were going to get a truck/trailer too. Dennis's son in law was getting up for work and ran out but they were too far ahead by that time. Said they haven't had a problem there in a couple years now.
