Well you participated in this thread for 2 months now and just now you think it's unfair cause a thread from 2 years ago was deleted? That should have been your first and only post in this thread. Sorry but this is what is wrong with this world today everybody's so sensitive and gets their feelings hurt over a conversation. If we can't discuss things in the General Discussion forum other than snowmobiling than I don't want to see one more Happy Birthday post either. Seems only fair. Birthdays have nothing to do with snowmobiling so if we are gonna become all strict on what can and can not be posted, it's just crazy that we need to be censored. No one attacked anyone in this thread or bashed anyone so I am sorry i see no problem with an adult conversation. Those who care to be a part of it can be but no one is forcing anyone to be in it if they do not want. Does not say Politics is not allowed. And like I said before who has been offended? (La Tuque) Mother Nature had put the patience of snowmobilers to the test last year. The snowmobile season took a long time to take off. If all goes well, it should be different this year, even though some trails are already open in the Mattawin area.
Across the region, you can feel the enthusiasm for the approaching snowmobile season. Everywhere, we hasten to work the paths where there is sufficient snow.
"Work has begun in some areas. Quietly not quickly, one begins the work of surfacing. This is obviously better than last year. We started the season on January 21 ... ", commented Kevin Vézina, Communications Manager for the Mauricie Snowmobile Club.
"We have also started surfacing in some areas, but our trails are not considered open now," said Claude Gagnon, President of the Snowmobile Club of La Tuque.
It must be said that there is still a lack of snow in some places and there is still hope of the cold so that the bodies of water can freeze adequately.
"The Saint-Maurice River is not yet frozen, it restricts a little access to trails," confirms Mr. Vézina.
Even if we are confident for a full start of the season towards the end of the month, we know that the mild temperature could play the spoils and we prefer not to advance on a specific date.
"One is ahead, if one does not have bad temperature. It depends a lot on that. We need snow. If it does not rain, we're going to be okay.
Besides, we do not want there to be rain because we do not want to start all over again. We have many hours of work and we still have a lot to do. We have 520 kilometers of trail, we are the paradise of snowmobiling, "said Mr. Gagnon.
Moreover, the Snowmobile Club of La Tuque is looking for volunteers. These are becoming more and more rare, which complicates things a little. "When they are there, it gives us a huge helping hand. It goes much faster when they answer the call. We really need it, "said Claude Gagnon.
The Club alliance du Nord in the area of Parent and Clova in Haute-Mauricie indicated through its website that teams were working to clear the trails due to several fallen trees.
"We will begin this Wednesday, December 21, the surfacing of our trails. We are also working on thickening the ice of the Bazin River. We will return shortly with the official opening of the trails, "reads.
If the trails are currently closed in the majority of clubs in the area, in Mattawin some trails are open to the snowmobilers' greatest pleasure. Trail 360 West towards Saint-Michel-des-Saints and trail 360 towards Saint-Joseph-de-Mékinac are open according to the website of the Snowmobile Club of Mattawin.

Whoops that did not go as planned

Well boys we will let you know first hand . Without any plans two days ago and speaking to Iceman and Andyman on their thoughts of where to go we have thrown in two maps ,some hastily put together gear and are on the 401 heading east to Saint - Ferdinand for our starting point. The Manoir du lac William. Only ever ridden this area once a long time ago . The idea is to head towards Bas-Saint -Laurent  and back to the truck Sunday night. Since this area is new to me I will be chime in gin for some mileage and recommendations. We wanted to to NB but isn't going to happen this time.

I wish i could tell you. I called Escapade but Kevin does not work there anymore he is involved with the club. It's safe near Grand Mere for sure to cross on 23 other than that best i can do is go check it Thurs or Friday myself. I will do some further checking and let you know if i find out more.

-1c still light snow on and off. 
sorry I must apologize, i was wrong on my snow total before it's not 8-9" no no, there is a solid 12" of new snow. It was blown off the hot tub so until I actually went outside it was hard to tell. 

No sticker on these two, but too good not to share...

From Today, lot's of work to get trail open. Lots of trees and brush to be cleared. Thank the club volunteers when you see one. Wherever it is. They all work tirelessly to make trails the best they can and as safe as possible.

Left here at noon. Nice to see the machine where she belongs, outside in the snow.

Hit the trail TQ 3 Est. direction Shawinigan Sud...fresh snow loose but nice, many tags and brush still poking through here on the hydro lines. The usual thing for early on in season.   
 
Continued to Shawi Sud. Here is the Intersection for M-2 to Shawi Sud, and Shawinigan 
  
Continued on 3 est then took the 351 direction St. Severin. Trail in the swampy parts needs more snow to fill in all the uneaven terrain, alot of up and downs. But all in all not too shabby. I saw no water holes at all. Once out of the swamp and onto the Railbed section it was real sweet. I continued to Relais Station. Passed on through was maybe 6 sleds there. 

Contnued on to the intersection just after the Relais. 
continued on the 351 nord arrived at the junction of 351 and 302. Decisions, Decisions i choose 302 only one track on the fresh snow here i'm going. 
really some great conditions for Jan 1 and we do not have nearly the amount of snow around here as other areas so they have done a fine job with the snow we have. Some nice spots but nothing spectacular just yet. But very rideable. Found some nice scenery in the woods.
continued on 302 checked St. Ubalde but did not see Playhard getting a Pizza. Maybe in 2 weeks,
kept going and joined back up with TQ3 now going back ouest. The Section between St Cashmir and where my club takes over in St Prosper, was the ugliest of the day. Big bumps and needs snow to be groomed in nice. However my club is on it and looking sweet. I cruise toward the Closed down Rogers Cabin and realize that the Groomer was here not long ago. This is the best trail I've seen all day. 
yup sure enough i catch up to him just before Chez Roger

onward to St Stanislas. I stop on the river to check it out. 
Ran the TQ 3 back to St. Narcisse where i gassed up. Then back to Lac a Tortue on TQ3 and back to Relais Iceman. 
I'm quite pleased with what I've seen and things will continue to improve for sure. snow is very loose still and will get more solid with time. Passed maybe 6 sleds on my whole loop. 
So a 3 hour ride and although the I motoneige says it was 165 Km I had it at 185 Km and no it was not track spin. 
Super nice to be back in the Saddle and it feels like I just got off it just yesterday as opposed to last March. Nice. 
Now to decide where to go Tmmrw. hmmm?

Great to see, hope to do some riding out of the old Safari this year.

Nice little run to get the cob webs off and to warm  up those muscle groups that have not seen action in nine months. I'm always stiff the next day after the first ride ! Getting old i guess.I like that relais but never could remember it's name . I never pay attention to that kind of stuff. Good food if I remember correctly.
