Cote Nord has my interest to explore a new area of Quebec for next season.
What's the common staging hotel for the 3 days out and 3 days back that often hear about. Looking for the groomed trail adventure not the off trail adventure some of you do that is very interesting to follow.
Did the Gaspe last year, how much of the Cote Nord is as scenic as the N shore of the Gaspe?
Just got home last night from 3 days riding N of Mont Laurier. Between the perfect weather and perfect trails can't put sledding to rest, need to get planning next year.
    Thanks Steve

We rode out of Rabaska Lodge Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning. Did 1,080 km of near perfect trails. Beautiful weather made for 3 epic days of riding. Had one of my Sons and 2 other friends that had never ridden Quebec before. They will be back.
Majority of the miles were couple different loops N of St Anne Du Lacs. Sight seeing loop to Devils Mountain and Chute Du Windigo.
Rode through Ferme Neuve Thursday afternoon when it was + 5C. Enough slush we sneaked through but sure by Friday all the roads were bare through town. Avoided it the next couple days.
Really like to thank the clubs and groomers that look after this vast area. Job well done.

Ride was great. Took the 53? up and was smooth and fast in Mt Laurier I 2 hours. Took the 63 back to the 319, 323 and 43. Good and was apparently groomed Saturday night as well. However as nice as it was with the weather this week I wouldn't count on it as being as good and frankly expect for this section to close after,
if you need another for Cote Nord next season, PM me. I'm looking at going. This an last season my buddy had things come up at the last minute and unlike Trailblazer I don't want to ride it alone.

I have been east of the Moisie Twice. Early March. I like the longer day light hours.
Mother nature dictates snow. Read Icemans Cote Nord 16, 17 trips. Tons of powder. You never know what will be thrown at you.

Is it not best to plan a ride later in February due to the weather in this area. Just my question not my opinion. I've never rode there but I will someday for sure. Seems like a lot of powder early in the year. Again only from what I read. Love reading the adventures of others. Well except getting stuck in 4 or 5 feet of snow. Is a wide track sled or deep lug track needed or would a inch and quarter or inch and half track be enough.  Again questions.  We always make a trip in early March so would that be the time for our adventure. Also how many in a group is suggested.  Any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks . Be safe.

I too am already thinking about next season, probably drive the truck right to ferry in Matane and spend 7 or 8 days riding over there do a little exploring, etc, really like the low traffic and do some GPS local trail adventure, should be fun!! Yes on the scenery and trails, you will enjoy it as much as Gaspe.

I ran some numbers. Here is what I came up with.
    Sacre-Coeur to Baie-Comeau 191 miles.

Baie-Comeau to Sept-Iles 205 miles (with nice orange trail).

Sept-Iles to Havre St. Pierre 160 Miles. If you go to Baie Johan Beetz and back to Havre St. Pierre it would be a 248 mile day.
Conditions will dictate when you pass the Moisie.
I tried to make HSP from Port Cartier and came up short 2015. Lots of powder and lack of grooming.
From Sept-Iles I made it no problem. The trail was groomed well this year.

you can go around the mitchinamecus reservoir or you can cross it. It is marked. We went by the area a few times this winter. You wil get to a jct where the dam is, to the left you go around and to the right(where the dam is) you go upon the reservoir. You gonna end up at the same place

Spoke with my buddy and he got up Saturday and trailered from Mt Laurier to St Ann. Word was trails not that great between. This is where we usually ride from but since he was only going to Clova was hoping to extend his ride. He left things to Thursday before he called to book and all the northern places were booked. I suggest at least for Saturday booking in some where.
Wish I could join you but have to work part of Friday

    Hi Jack,
In Ontario the speed limit is 50 KPH or 30 MPH. Very seldom have I seen or heard of radar on Ontario trails except near Bancroft there is a rail bed and often police will set up there and ticket unfortunate riders.
In February we rode for 5 days in northern New Brunswick. My understanding there is no posted speed limit for snowmobile trails in the province. The message was use common sense which really is the only practical system for the diversity in trails, topography, conditions etc that exist on the trail system. Was a benefit in New Brunswick because there is a lot of fast riding there.
I feel staying on the right side of the trail is much more of a safety issue than speed. One of the reason enjoy Quebec so much is it seems to have a older more mature group of riders than you will find on Ontario trails during the weekend.

A lot of parking lots, paved roads and gas stations are down to bare pavement, but it is Mid March and the sun is strong. Temperatures look good all through to next weekend, cold nights and below freezing day time temps except for  a couple of days around the freezing mark.

    Hi Carman
Friend just got home from the Gaspe. They stayed at the Grand one night then the next at the CARIBOU at Rivière de Nard, just north of Gaspe. Said it was a really nice spot. 300 km which you won't want to do much more than that on the north shore. Very scenic but also not real fast trail because of the topography. Will be stopping at the look outs which all takes time.
At New Richmond the Francis hotel is very nice spot .

Carvings are incredible Alain. Thanks for the pictures. We spend last Thursday to Saturday in Saint Michel des Saints.
Didn't realize this event was on. On Friday we went south down to Coin Lavigne then headed east for a loop. Could have easily went to St Come if knew festival was on.
Spend the next 2 days riding to the north on perfect trails. Loved the 345 south from Repos down to the 360

    Hi Steve,
My ride on the 600 was only a couple of hours.  Sandi wouldn't let me have it any longer than that.  She really likes it compared to her 1200.  It makes the 1200 feel heavy on the front end.  The 600 is fun, nimble and peppy.  As Sandi says, she can toss this around where the 1200 wasn't so nimble.
Its amazing how the manufacturers can keep improving the sleds.  When you think you have a sled that can't get any better, a new model, engine, design, etc. comes out and the manufacturers have our money again!
Keep pushing that 850.  Mine has 7,000 miles on it and it is just as much fun today as the first day.

Got the link figured out. I had an old 2016-2017 map was using on my phone.
Down loaded the 2018 iMotoneige an all is good.
Since switching from my Yamaha to 850 Ski Doo nothing seems to work right until I add expensive 2 stroke oil to it.😖
