iceman
Closed Shipshaw to St Ambroise from Caribou Conscrits Please take note that the portion of the #367 between St Ambroise and Shipshaw is closed and could be closed indefinitely. Work was underway to open this portion of the trail, but some property owners are asking for excessively high right-of-way fees, even though they are already receiving compensation from Ville de Saguenay. Negotiations with these owners led nowhere, and reasonable compensation was offered but refused. Rights of way are fragile and increasingly difficult to negotiate. The club is working to find a solution, but unfortunately for the time being the trail will remain closed. wng-2

It gets worse not better every year. Greed is the problem here. They are demanding money. So they have not said no to trail. The issue is money. If not they would just refuse passage. damn curious how much the Ville Saguenay pays to the landowners for trail passing through their property. i bet it pays well. That for sure. We need to start looking at permanent trails to secure any riding in the future.
iceman
Update they paid up. $$$$$$$ Club had no choice really and the landowner probably knew it. FOLLOW-UP TO PORTION #367 Between St-Ambroise and Shipshaw. Following the meeting of the Board of Directors held on January 17, 2024, it was agreed to pay the landowner who was blocking the passage and preventing the reopening of the section of regional trail #367. This decision was accepted by the members of the Board of Directors, despite the costs, which were deemed excessive, so as not to penalise snowmobilers who regularly use this trail. The Club plans to open the trail early next week, once it has been verified that the snow groomer can pass safely. For this year, the Club is covering this expense, but in the future a regional fund will have to be set up to cover these costs. In addition to negotiating rights of way, maintaining trails and signage, and signing individual agreements for each landowner, volunteers have to secure areas with fences and special signs to protect rights of way. It's a huge task, and one that has to be repeated every year. Rest assured that without volunteers, the trails could not exist. The government, municipalities, RCMs, the tourism industry and shopkeepers will eventually have to get involved in setting up this fund to help cover the full cost of the rights of way, which are not provided for in the FCMQ's new funding model for preserving rights of way, which are becoming increasingly expensive and difficult to maintain. Let's not forget that flying snowmobiles don't yet exist: you have to use private land! Trail #367 will be open for the 23-24 season. MrGutz
Quick update on conditions, we landed Thursday, rode friday and saturday, mostly a mixed bag, almost like when we would come up on Dec31st. Thin in a lot of places, bumpy in others , everything is just ramping up. Expecting more snow soon. Two weeks it'll be better! smclelan
Good update. Really what a person would expect to hear considering there was no snow 2 weeks ago. Always better in two weeks LOL MrGutz
iceman
now open update from Caribou Conscrits As mentioned last week, trail #367 between St-Ambroise and Shipshaw was cleared of fallen trees and surfaced at noon today, and will remain so for the rest of the 2024 season. We remind you that this late opening is mainly due to various disputes over rights of way on private lots, as well as the lack of snow at the beginning of the season.
