Sunday December 28
Another beautiful morning, not super cold but just right. Big sunshine. We were up and at it early today. Breakfast was fast and we were suited and saddled up 9:15.
Mrs Ice leads, off we go. Ride out to Junction of TQ3 is great, like yesterday.
TQ3 west today. We make our way up and to the Hydro Quebec station where everyone parks. End of the winter road. Now its time to stretch our legs a bit as the Super Highway TQ3 is fast and smooth all the way to the Club House.
We don’t stop here we are moving on. She is riding it today, Mrs likes this trail. Beyond the relais TQ3 goes left we continue straight.
This part here for me will always be the Pel Chat trail before 330 there was only the Pel Chat if you dared take it, most times in the early years of it. It was either great or a goat path.
This trail is awesome and just gets better as we go. We have seen a few sleds nothing crazy. This first 50km from the truck parking is awesome as always and we arrive at the fork for 330 and Local orange (Pel Chat)to Chapelle TQ93 etc. 4-5 guys stopped at the intersection but they are going up to where everyone else is. Mont Valin. Not interested. Got all we need right here, no crowds.
Its 330 for us.
This trail is right up there on my list of all time favorites just because of the flow. Its got a little bit of everything. Big wide, fast, then some narrow spots to keep you honest. Then twisty too,. Its got it all. With all the chalets along the way, next to the river, a real coin de paradis. Watatatow.
Stopped in at the warming hut, it was full with Sunday locals hanging out at 11am. Took a short break outside. We wanted to keep going as our plan is to ride right back the way we came after filling up and having a candybar lunch. Right back on route. Trail is spectacular.
We take the time to spot the water access spots for a future Mrs Ice paddle board descent. Stay tuned.
Closer to junction with TQ3 the 330 veers off right from the forrest road.
I noticed Lots of tracks headed straight continuing on the road. There are 2 two ups parked here pointed down the road as we follow the 330 on to TQ3 then east to Esso in Portneuf sur mer.
Beautiful all the way.
I just begin gassing sleds and the 2 two up sleds arrive i see them across the road there. They say you learn something everyday, well today I learned that that forrest road is directly across from gas station.
After our break and warm up at the gas station. Its a given we are having a look across that road there.
We cross over and I ride ahead, its not groomed but the rain last week and the people going to chalets with toboggans in tow have it groomed nice.
We run up and as i see the trail off on the left side we used yesterday to bypass Portneuf sur mer. We were on part of this yesterday. All locals trails. Few more KM up and we join straight on back on the 330 which is on this forrest road now.
Just as fun going the other way. Seen 6-10 sleds going other direction all day. Once we were stopped and 3 or 4 sleds passed us going our way. Never saw them again . Light traffic and perfect trail conditions. We retraced our route back to hotel.
Solid day of riding today. Again the Mrs is happy so its a win.
That’s 2 of us very happy with two nice days.
Now as usual Cote Nord is getting ready to have a storm for us tomorrow so we shall see. We are going out for a ride somewhere….at least until it’s snowing too hard. More good experience for my Caro.
Until next time….
