I’m looking forward to following this thread and wish you and the other riding partners the best in your adventure!! I know Andyman and a few others have done some long adventures like this but I was just never into it. 20 years ago mon ami Andre and I left St Jean de Matha on a Saturday morning and circled the whole Gaspe and back to Matha the following Saturday afternoon. 8 days with a 250 mile/day average we were just a smidgeon shy of 2K. That was the longest bag trip I ever took and not again since. I felt it was too much and actually wish it ended a couple days sooner.
I would be less concerned about your 2005 SDI (especially given what you have done to it) and more about the other riders sleds and what condition they are in. Then there is the “Mother Nature” part. They say this year is a 1000 year El Niño event. They are calling for 2-3 degree warmer winter in the northeast this year. What this translates into Quebec weather this winter is anyone’s guess. I read somewhere what they are calling for warmer Montreal winter. The other caveat is how much conditions can vary in the vast distances you’ll be covering in a relatively short period of time.
I’m hoping the “stars” are aligned for you and your partners.
I had a 2007 600 SDI and for two seasons drove it pinned to the bar (literally) for 8k miles and could not kill it. I had an extended warranty and was hoping for a new engine near the end but to no avail.
