I think to this day I still have finger blisters from squeezing the brake so hard in that 'special section'. You'll either have stomach butterflies or helmet puke. I did this section solo and thought it would be decades before anyone would find me after I went over one of those drop offs. I think this was before the one inch lugs and far before the inch and a quarter lugs. The track was locked going down hills and I gained great speeds down each hill.

doo4adoo reacted to Fozzy in Season Finally Mont Valin May 12th 13th
Temps were amazing, Sunny and around plus 12 - 14, no jackets and trails were surprisingly flat with lots of snow for cooling and slides.

We headed up to the lookout.
It was time for lunch so we headed to KM 31. If you stepped off the trail you sank up to your chest. Snow depth in certain areas was crazy.

Getting up the hill to KM 31 for gas and lunch was bare. Lol

After lunch we decided it was time to check out the Hydro lines. Just was not enough snow everywhere to make it worth it. I did do one chute, but you hit patches of no snow at the top. Crazy how deep the ruts are where there is no snow.

It was getting towards the end of the day and our season was done. Mont Valin never disappoints! We had a great time!!

With roughly 300 km for the day our season comes to an end. Hopefully we run into some of you guys next year.

Yep , Krikri twist my arm for an other last ride!!!
We let ourself tempted by an annual event called "short sleeves ride" organized by a very  nice girl(sledder) called JoAnn on the web that maybe some of you may knowed. This event was as always in the Laurentide wildlife reserve at the Castor shack (named" playa del castor" for this day) located on the #369 trail 25 miles south from l'Étape. This event that started with a small bunch of friends meeting in 2004 turned bigger and bigger over the years and this one, the latest in april since the begginning attracted around 300 sledders
Most peoples got there from the north of Quebec city directly on the #369 but like few we started our ride from St-Raymond de Porneuf at the St-Raymond relay (also knowed as Lesage relay before) on the #23 trail. It was the souther point possible to start from (the trail just infront the relay on south side was just on grass!!!)  but going north from there, apart from the road approachs we encounter no dirt at all and amazing conditions for this time of the year. It was real winter condition for going and turned to spring on the return (was +10C at l'Etape and warmer down south!). It ended with 223 miles of happiness for us for making this route round trip.
I won't make a photo report for this one but put together a short video from our route when going there that you may enjoy to watch (best view in 1080p)
It was our last one for sure this time, I just installed today the summer tires on the venture!
    Have a great off season

Here is a few pics of today’s ride. Left Saint Agatha Maine and headed for Fort Kent. Crossed border went into New Brunswick then into Quebec. Rode up to Lac Pohenegamook for gas and lunch. What an unbelievable run for April 14!!  The trails were 90 % Perfect. Some dirt and mud, but very little. Great Day. 190 Miles. How many are doing this today???  Lol!!

Every year, the snowmobile season has many victims in Quebec. Since 2016, more than 45 snowmobilers have died.
To improve safety on the trails, a group from Kamouraska has developed an invention, a traffic monitor. A small object that could save lives!
Denis Gagnon is president of GDM Technologies, a company based in La Pocatière, in Bas-Saint-Laurent. A few years ago, he was the victim of a violent snowmobile accident. "The gentleman was coming and it was the sun that blinded him. He never saw anything, "he said.

Éric Dubé is the engineer. "When we meet a vehicle that is coming, the device will turn red. If there is more than one vehicle it will flash red, so we know that there are several vehicles coming up. When approaching a resurfacer, it will flash red and blue. It detects at a distance of 150 to 700 meters, "he explained.
Last winter, instructors were provided to 200 snowmobilers as part of a pilot project. Claude, surfacer operator, has found its effectiveness. "Let's say that the snowmobile comes in curves, it warns. This is where you can save a life, "he believe
Again this year, twenty people lost their lives on the snowmobile trails of Quebec, 23 in 2016-2017. With this device, the inventors are convinced that this number can decrease.
The traffic monitor, however, has the disadvantage of detecting only vehicles that are also equipped with the same device. GDM Technologies has partnered with a Montreal-based company that will be responsible for marketing. Approaches to insurance companies and snowmobile clubs will be undertaken. "We hope everyone will think about safety. That's what's important. If we can save one life per year! ", Hopes Denis Moreau, project manager at GDM Technologies.
The device could be on sale from next autumn. The Quebec Federation of Snowmobile Clubs plans to bring all the snowmakers in the province, with the aim of encouraging sports fans to do the same.

    This past weekend
Left The Roqe and went to the chalets & spa
The 83 west was not really open all the way, fyi
Mt Apica is CLOSED. That presented a problem since we said lets not stop at L'Etape and gas at Apica
Fortunately there were some sleds carrying gas and we traded a belt that a guy on a yami needed and made it north to Hebertiville
