Ray,   it may cost me a steak or two, but when I tell Lois how much better the  '2019 ACE 900 is over her '16 900,  my steak bill will be a lot cheaper than your new sled bill.
There seems to be inquiries about what new sled Farmerold is driving this year. All I can say is it is way above my pay grade to reveal that kind of information.  It is such all encompassing           gigantic news that such a leak could harm national security.
Had a chance to talk to SnowDog,, talk to Jak,  and finally got to meet Scorpionbowl and his friend Marty.   New sled, new and old friends, what a great day to start out the RDL season.

It's that time of year to keep each other up to date on the trail and snow conditions of the Riviere du Loup area and a way to catch up with friends staying in the area and those saddle bagging through the region in hopes we can at the very least  say hi and maybe even pop the cork on a bottle of wine.
    Cheers,

The trail goes right thru the lot, pull to the pumps and someone will show up, have cash. The cafeteria is open weekdays, weekends is vending machines. It’s maybe 1/3 of the way between LaDore & Chibogmau. Some sweet trails up there.

Did a mini saddlebag out of Drakkar . Arrived Sunday afternoon, out for a quick spin and a beer just to make sure everything was in working order. Trails were a little bouncy , esp the 3. But all normal for a Sunday afternoon.
Mon morn we had breakfast at the Drakkar(much improved), and the 4 of us headed west. Normally we go North or East, but based on reports of a flooded St Anne river in St Ray, and thin snow in the valley near Lac st.jean we decided to head west and do mini  loops.Headed west on 23, past Cabin on the Hill, and the ski area. Not a big fan of this trail. Its tight and twisty and not much to see. Did ride down to the Hotel Sacacomie. This place is worth a look if youve never been. Incredible Log building perched above a Lake.
We spent 1 nite at Real Masse. This is a fun spot and the owners are super friendly and good english.  Went by the Cabanon, and wow,... I definitly would not go near that place on a weekend. On a tuesday there were at least 40 trucks in their parking lot and the trails in and out of there showed a little snirt with a few rocks to boot. Reminded me of Pittsburg NH. Spent tuesday night at the Central in St.Michel. Decent food, better Bar. Rode around Lac Taureau, and on the Lac as well. Visited the massive Auberge on the way up to the dam. Definitly a 1% er hangout. Also Canada Adventure....almost affordable, and what a spot overlooking the lake.
Rode back to Shawini in steady snow wednsday . 23, 345, 360. 360 is gorgeous trail, as well as fast, though we were pushing 8 inches of freshie, and steering was a bit dicey. The trails were 90% good, but the constant lite snow kept our speed down.
The trails up there now will be near perfection, as ICE reported, there was a new foot of snow when we returned, and the trails were already good before this.
Reggie, Nancy and Pascal are doing a great job with the Drakkar, and it appeared full when we left fri morn. The next 6 days are going to be cold so the trails should get hard, flat and fast.  Pure Quebec.

Alain, I phoned the club directly and yes they had problems with rights of way in La Macaza but it has been resolved and it is opened. They sent the groomer towards SMDS.

We updated trailers this year and ordered a new one from Blizzard around the time of the big east snowmobile show. We just picked it up this week as Blizzard is as busy as they have ever been. Right now they are a 12 week wait if you order a new trailer. We sold our 2007 Blizzard 14ft enclosed trailer a few weeks ago so the timing of the new one was perfect for us. The new trailer is 18ft long plus the V so we can get 3 sleds in the trailer if needed. It is all Aluminum frame and Very High Quality Build!! It is also a stagger model so its much easier to see behind you and a breeze to tow...

I will say the Blizzard quality is second to none, great quality aluminum materials and workmanship! The main reason why we are buying another from them. This one we had the inside pre-finished, moved the man door and gas doors to the driver side and also the front ramp door to the drivers side which is opposite our last trailer because when you park along the side of a road you cant unload from the passenger side. We ordered it with the spring assist on both doors, you could lift them with a pinky finger... These also come with full length tie down channels on both sides for ease of loading and quick tie down. We added a layer of 1/2" advantek floor sheathing to the new floor to beef it up and protect the factory floor. We also added a Stainless fold down work bench along with a coat rack. We will be adding a few more things like fold down seats, heater and generator quick hookups. Maybe a few cat stickers and posters to make the inside a bit more homey...

No sense crossing with cannibis if you can just buy it when you get there...  Save space in the trailer for cheaper US gas...

They have your complete criminal history, your complete driving record, any warrants out for you, any court protection from abuse orders past and current,  plates must match up on the vehicle you are driving, all places and dates you crossed the border in the past and any problems they encountered when you did so.  State and federal convictions from state and federal courts are included as are any motor vehicle convictions. I know in my past life I also could see those arrests and summonses where the person was found not guilty or were still pending.

Another New Brunswick day, still far away from the Quebec ZEC territories , but we are having a fun run here.

Leaving this am in light snow but with Winter storm warnings posted we knew we were going to have fun this afternoon.  We were not disappointed!
We ran the New Brunswick snowmobile Assoc, Zone 3.  A nice run this morning on a great loop out to Caraquet NB for lunch, and yes, fresh seafood!!
Than the winter storm warnings kicked in, Heavey snow all afternoon made visibility and snow accumulations interesting.  By the time we were back in Bathurst we had a foot of powder in the trail in places and having a blast.
We expect another 6” tonight so our run tomorrow will be even more fun😁
    Happy Trails

1.)That's why you always need to ride with at least one buddy who is slower than you.
2.)Chances  are a single wolf is not going to take on a pack of helmet wearing aliens unless it is rabid.
    3.)If it is,refer back to #1😉

We have seen moose in all of Quebec. Very large one on trail 63 near Belleterre, on 83 near Clova, several in Gaspi.
This is my thinking from deer hunting, fox hunting, coyote hunting with dogs. All animals have their crossing points. I believe that a animal  will continue on the trail until he gets to one of these crossing points. It's the same with a fox, rabbit, and even a wolf. When deer hunting watchers are put out on certain spots. Where the deer are known to cross.
As for the moose i would like to think they are only looking for one of their crossing points. Think of their size and a walking moose can cover miles of trail and when you meet them it may take an hour to get back to where they feel comfortable to get off the trail. So I believe even tho it may take a while, give them time to get back to where they want to be. An hour of our time is not worth the life of one of these wonderful animals. I truely believe what I just wrote. Please give them time.

Play hard, well we are definitely out of the ZEC territories on this report, as we decided to stay in New Brunswick today and ride some areas that many of us have not ridden in 20 plus years.  So,e never at all.

With all the trails in NB open for the first time in 3 years we figured if we are going to do it, let’s ride it this week.  And we have a big storm coming in tomorrow.  Just gets better!😁

We left Moose valley, lunch at Serpentine lodge and ended up in Miramachi City.  We had the full scale of riding conditions today.  We didn’t want to leave any condition uncovered😋.

A great lunch with Alyre at Serpentine, he knows Andyman well as Andyman has been here a few times!  we also talked with several friendly riders there today and got to ride the interior NB. Also we saw the ice jams on the Miramachi rivers, pic below is where the Renous and Miramachi fork together.  A good 265 miles of NB riding today😁
    More fun tomorrow

    Happy trails
