Check out Le Daived on the Baskatong. Stayed there last week, outstanding food and lodging, all for $115 a night and that was for a suite. Awesome place
https://pointedavid.com/pointeadavid_home.html. I would support them first instead of village windigo. They are the ones who puts hours and hours staking Baskatong Reservoir winter after winter.

It is groomed to a side trail, (68 miles) that ends in Fer a Cheval. We were told by Dominic that it cannot be groomed or traveled all the way due to a large section plowed and sanded.
I didn't see the connector on my way to Parent last weekend. Is it located between Fer à cheval and 13/33 junction? Any signage? I might starting wearing my glasses😄

yes.....53 south of 63 has been rerouted when you connect to 63. You are confirming me that's why I didn't see the 53 north junction on my way to val-barette..It is further east?

https://pointedavid.com/pointeadavid_home.html... working fine at my end. Anyhow I learned last nite the Baskatong crossing is ready. We are using the former route thru the southeast end of the Reservoir. Not going thru village windigo this season.

Is the lake frozen? I assumed so but I am seeing some of the southern lakes are not safe yet per Facebook pages.
I've been told they started staking Baskatong last saturday. Give them a call. They are in charge of staking the Baskatong crossing.

Anyone know the story why the 63 from Classic to Le Domaine remains closed as of Jan. 13th? This section of trail surely has had snow for a month, and is largely bush roads. Downed trees from ice to blame, and lack of volunteers would be my first guess? Midrange, I assume u know the story? Heading somewhere near that area Friday AM... Thx
They have just finished cleaning the trail(downed trees, branches). lots of work had to be done thru out the territory and we have a huge territory to take care of. We got +- a foot of snow over the weekend. You can follow them on their facebook page. They are starting the grooming operations today.

I saw they are under construction or something. Can you still park there and ride?
Restaurant le classic, it's business as usual. they got +- 12 inches of snow last nite from that storm.
Le Domaine. The cafeteria has been torn down. Gas station still open. 819-435-2251

But wouldn't it have made more sense to build the new one first then tear the old one down?
I agree.

Why are they tearing it down
It will be rebuilt and relocated next to highway 117. It has been in the works for quite awhile but nothing is happening. Tearing it down is a good start I guess.

Is there anyplace open that can be reached from Manawaki? If I remember correctly Trout was around 270 miles. Thats about the limit for us on the first day out.
Hi Jack!
Not much options Rich.......Motel Royal(The truck stop) in Louvicourt. Very Basic rooms. Have stayed there a couple of times. Or Val d'Or which is about + - 260 miles. Hope to see you this winter in Maniwaki. We have about 5 inches on the ground. Yikes!!! more to the northwest.
