I think you are going to an extreme with your example
Of course if someone asks about services they should get an answer about what is available and where and mentioning places you have stayed or enjoyed a nice meal by all means post it regardless of that establishment being a sponsor or not
My point is if you’re on this site constantly promoting an establishment that is not a sponsor maybe you should consider approaching them about becoming a sponsor
For one establishment to get free promotion on almost a daily basis while others pay for advertising isn’t right in my book

I hear a lot of this lately about talking to businesses about becoming a paid sponsor. It's all well and good but you guys are not giving any guidance as to how to go about this. As a small business owner I literally get hundreds of requests every year for donations. Each one has the potential of exposure for my business to varying degrees but I can't possibly put my name on every kids baseball, soccer or hockey shirt. I can't afford to donate to every Lion's club Fire company golf tournament but these people are from my community and are my customers so we always do our best. If you want sponsors I suggest you put together a package with info regarding who you are reaching and the costs involved otherwise any of us that go in blind won't be able to answer the first question that a business owner could ask

To anyone that stays at the Universal I suggest they be sure to mention they heard about them here on Quebec Rider. And as you travel through the Bas St-Laurent region mention at any relais or other business you patronize you learned about them here.
It would be very beneficial to this website to have the Universal & the Bas St-Laurent region as paid sponsors.

I found out last year how to start those 800 etecs.  You have to have a regular car battery and good size jumper cables.  Do this and they'll start right up.  Booster packs don't cut it on those 800s. The 800s  make a great Florida sled.

If Bill chimes in here I'm sure he will point out all my problems getting my '15 800 etec started even in 20f temps that's when the phrase "Florida snowmobile" was coined
And believe me, he WAS sure to use it EVERY time it wouldn't start....

That is some serious deep powder. That riding is not for the meek or the old (me).

Jack, rode out of Four Points last year. Was a lot of construction going on so not surprised that trail is gone. Rode out of Comfort Inn years ago, trail started at parking lot. Used the chips machine for food though lol.

Our group did not pass them on the right, that's crazy.
If a slow group intentionally won't let you pass, IMHO it just creates anger and frustration.

    To mcstar:
As always there are 2 sides to s story.  This was out first day, after we saw the 2 riders (who we just met) doing the hole shots, we explained that this was not proper  trail etiquette.
To your other statement.  We followed you for 10 MILES.  You had FOUR chances at stop signs to let us pass you.  Everyone is entitled to ride to their abilities.  The "wannabe racers" are aged 46 to 61 each with 20+ years of experience.  This is like the guy driving 55 in the left lane of 70 MPH highway, eventually people pass on the right because it seems that person thinks they "own the road".
We ride faster than you, you all had mirrors, had FOUR chances to wave us on before we passed on a straight away.  Then when the last 2 didn't get past you and we were in the parking lot of the Relais, you STILL wouldn't let them by (your FIFTH chance).  At this point you had to know that we wanted to get by you.  So finally after the SIXTH attempt to pass you let us get by.
In our 6 days in the Gaspe your group of 4 was the ONLY group who intentionally didn't let us pass them.   At least 10 other groups just waved us on. Why didn't you stop at a stop sign and wave us on?  Your entitled to ride at whatever speed you want and so are we.  Did it hurt your ego to let us go by?
Finally, we got passed by young guys on fast sleds at least 10 times.  The minute we saw them "on our asses" we waved them on.  No big deal.  Your stubbornness created the entire situation. You had SIX chances over 15 minutes to let us go by, I just can't understand why you did what you did. TQ5 is not your personal trail where you can dictate the speed to everyone else.
As far as it being a family sport, of course it is.  Every 2 up going 30 MPH lets the faster people go by.  The 3 trailing sleds in your group clearly wanted us gone, it was your leader who saw us and decided that we should have to ride at YOUR speed, not what we wanted to ride.  We were well within our capabilities, you were going way slower then the average and I bet you had multiple similar encounters with others unless you interaction with us made you change your behavior.
Anyway, all can learn from this, if someone wants to pass, I say wave them on at the next stop sign and save everyone some aggravation.
And to Shore1066, this was my 12th trip to Quebec since 1999, we HATE Tug Hill and would never ride their because of the bad behavior/alcohol consumption that goes on there. mcstar's group was the ones who need to be educated.

I'm glad the court sided with the land owners.  I agree that the police should not come onto private land and issue tickets.  What sort of message is that action sending to the youngsters who are enjoying the party while they are being supervised by adults.  The children will be looking over their shoulder to see if the police are watching them when instead the children should look upon the police as their friends and protectors.
I don't want to start a legal post here but if the law exempts private property from the Highway Safety Code, does that mean that tickets can only be issued where the trail actually runs on a road and tickets cannot be issued when the trail is on private property such as a farmer's field?  Just a thought.
Something the courts should address to clarify what we can do and cannot do.
    Thanks Don.

I think Road Road runner this would be a great trip to write about plus the pictures would be great in Snow Goer magazine! It would be one of the best stories in a while for the magazine ! I think a lot of other people would enjoy reading about this other than QR readers!

That was not a groomed trail. More than a week not groomed might as well be no groom.
Yeah for sure but i was on my 13' XTX my 14' XTX with the Star Suspension kit would have been much better.
Seriously though the way that trail was, I don't care if you had a R-motion, S-motion, or super duper ski doo T motion. You would have had a bleeding kidney too.

Hi Don.  Its like the phone I have.  It is almost impossible to break the tiny glass cover on it, I've dropped it more times than I can count, it actually has keys on it that push and it has a camera but I don't know how to use that.  The disadvantage is I have to charge it maybe once a week if I use it a lot.  Its not like my rotary phone at home that I never have to charge.
OK, we might have to explain to some of the younger riders what a rotary phone is.

Verizon wireless has $2.00 a day and use your phone just like state side (your plan ) no extra charges and pay only the days you use it even if it is 1 day a year.
