Grampsledder reacted to Oilman in 2017 RDL Conditions
Mikerider summed it up good. 2-7 inches of fresh snow depending where you were and elevation. More East and North from RDL. Ended up doing 180 miles total. Back to winter for sure. Mostly smooth trails with the pow on top. Great ride.

Grampsledder reacted to mikerider in 2017 RDL Conditions
Started out this morning to ride with Oilman. Realized after we got going that there was freezing drizzle in the air that was coating the helmet shields and within one mile could not see. I turned around and Oilman continued on to ride.
Once out on the trail in the woods there was a good 3 inches of snow. I am betting more once into a little elevation. Trails seemed fine. Hopefully the goomers get out tonight.
Oilman did say driving up late afternoon and evening yesterday he came through Jackman and hit rain all the way until about 30 miles before RDL, then it was snowing.
Hopefully I might know more later today, til then again I say it looks hopeful but no promises. Hopefully a report from Oilman and GKW and crew left this morning to ride to their rig in Beauceville. Hopefully GKW will report in.

The flat bag carries all my emergency gear-extra fleece, socks, gloves, SPOT beacon and medical kit. The back bag carries my snow bunjie, shovel, saw and oil. Keep those with me all the time. The combo bag for touring was the challenge. Worked well.

Hard to tell the snow amount this morning from the parking lot due to the wind moving the snow around, looks like a couple inches at least, probably more once out of RDL several miles into the higher ground. Still snowing. At least it now looks like mid winter.

I plan to stay the weekend, although my reservations end Friday. Front desk assures me there will be cancellations.
The dignitary at the hotel today was the prime minister of Quebec.
Pic of front entrance to hotel.

Good posting Mike. We will see you in a couple of days. Don't use up all of the snow.

Grampsledder reacted to Fuse6 in Gaspe 2/27 - 3/9
Excellent, all kind of snow once you get out of the towns on the shore.
Some trails a bit choppy in spots as the grooming hasn' t caught up from the warm spell.
Today MSP to to Grande Vallee was good, from Grande Vallee to Gaspe right down to Grande Rivière was groomed and perfect conditions.
Only bad trail is the 16 km trail from #5 that goes to Perce Rock. It was brutal, don't think it seen a groomer in couple weeks. Had to ride standing the whole way it was so bad.

Js, so glad you got the good conditions. I wasn't sure what you would run into up there. Sounds good, wish you stayed a day, I wanted to drool some more over your sidewinder.
Grampsledder, I may still be here Sunday into Monday if the weather and trails stay good.

Gas at La Chace is only a few miles from the Chic Choc trail. The gas is in Mont Louis, no gas in Mont St Pierre.

True, there is no "gas station" in Mont St. Pierre, however you don't always need a gas pump. You just need to know who to ask. #nicetohavefriends

The Gaspe is a great ride. Looks like they have tons of snow. We like the two cut throughs (595 and 597) and the Chic Choc trail if they fit in your plans. We're headed up for our 7th trip in 1 1/2 weeks.

We're headed up on March 4 also. Starting at the Universel. Four of us are doing a week tour of the Gaspe, our 7th trip of the region. We'll look for you. I'm loving my Tek Vest.
