I wonder if anyone can recommend a SAFE place where I can safely store my trailer/sleds (loaded) that is secure and no more then 45 minutes from YQB airport.  I'm retiring and will be going back and forth next winter.  I would leave a vehicle the airport.  I'd need 24/7 access to this facility and likely would rent it form December through March.

Any help would be greatly appreciated1

That's going to be difficult to accomplish, I would think. Apart from actually finding a "safe" place, and the  logistical challenges that @Iceman mentioned, you are going to have to potentially deal with shoveling out, dead batteries etc.... Are you planning on traveling from Florida, or some far warm place? I hope things change, but the snowmobile season seems to be getting shorter and shorter. Being retired, perhaps you should consider spending the month of February in the Province, and call it good. One trip in, one trip out. Other than that, perhaps work with a hotel you trust, that could manage your vehicle and sleds, and maybe even shuttle you to and from the airport. All at a cost and risk of course. Good luck.

  2. The foot plus of heavy wet snow we received here in Southern Maine would have made a nice base, in January🙄🤪...

I am very thankful that I installed a standby generator last year. Currently still close to 300,000 customers still without power state wide. Yesterday A friend asked me if I would be taking my machine out... My machine is going to be my Kubota Tractor with plow and front end loader. After the concrete snow on top soft gravel is dealt with, it's on to downed trees. 😀

I haven't kept track of myself, but I just noticed the banner, so I re-upped plus some beer money/gratitude.

Is there a way to see one's contribution history on the site?

Indeed. As I mentioned above, I have been contributing for several years, sometimes multiple times per year. I have never received any correspondence from anything or anyone that has anything to do with Quebecrider Dot Com. Is John Rowe a member here? Anyhow, I am very happy to contribute to the site, I just wish I could be more certain that the money I am contributing is actually benefiting the site. I would also like to take a moment to thank all those who moderate, and otherwise run the site, and make it possible. Thank you for your time and effort.

  4. It Snowed in Maine yesterday. Northern and interior areas got quite a bit. I guess a few of the clubs might groom. Here in Southern Maine we got about four inches before it turned to freezing rain. My birch trees got tired and laid down for a nap. The power went out just after 9:30 last night. still out this morning just before 4:30. I am thankful for the stand by generator that I had installed last year.  I spent the day yesterday working on my motorcycle. Changing the air filter on my 2018 Honda Goldwing. I thought the previous generation Goldwing was bad. This is worse. A ridiculous process. It was a good day for it. I left a note for the next guy that does it. When I wrote it, I was determined that it would not be me....

    WOW! 221K...OMG...Congrats....

Great suggestions as we have done it a few times......Tooling around the Gaspesie, on the Road King, at that time, on a Sunday morning, when traveling through St Flavie (Mont-Joli) we came upon mass  being hosted by Église catholique Sainte-Flavie, outdoors on the banks of the St Lawrence. It was a pleasant surprise so we stopped & asked the man above, in part, to provide us safe travels. Thankfully he did. That trip anyway..ha ha. Since that time, I think the ugly looking guy, whose name starts with a "D", that hangs out below in the warmer grounds have intercepted my requests & thanks to the man above  :  )   Maybe some of you have also dealt with the "D".

The photos of the rock/ Perce was taken from our room at Hôtel la Normandie. The hotel is closed during the winter months but it is a favorite of ours on our summer jaunts. The on premise restaurant is exceptionally good.

Thanks to each of you. Stay safe, all.

Considering the winter for most of the places we go and stay at was bad for them financially as well. Maybe consider a vacation in Quebec this summer. I know alot of QR’s do visit in other seasons. But just putting it out there if you never been when there’s no snow give it a try. Lots of stuff to explore.

Yes indeed. I would love to get back to La Belle Province on the summer Sled. Good opportunity to check out some places to stay in the winter.

Here's a trip from quite a few years ago on the old 2001 Wing. I put 221k miles on that one.

I am a little slow getting the ride report out of our Feb 27 trip.

Our original plan was to trailer from Nova Scotia to Pointe a la Croix Feb 27, then snowmobile to Matane catching the 2pm boat Feb 28.  However with mild weather and rain forecast on the 28th, we trailered directly to Matane the 27th.

    Feb 28

Got up from the Quality Inn and on the 8am boat to Baie Comeau.  Off loaded, it was above 0 but still lo rain.  We took the orange trail behind the ski hill going East.  What an amazing scenic trail.  It ends on the TQ3 at the warming shack between BC and Godbout.  Stopped at the shack and put a fire on, it was a heavy mist at this point. No one was wet but we were in no rush either.  From there we went to the Travelodge for the night in BC and supper at 3 Barils,  Great food.

    Feb 29

Flash freeze overnight, what a jack pot!  Handle bars controls all frozen solid!  Took off scratcher down.  Groomers were out in a few sections to help break up the hard crust.  Good trails all the way to Sacre Couer and stay at the Coronet.

    Mar 1

Out from the Coronet and up the TQ93, it was the best I have ever seen it right to where you meet the first orange trail.  From there to the Chappel was good but not as good as the 93.  Lunch and off, backtracked on the TQ93 to the orange trail and turned east. One short plowed section by Domaine L or paste but great running to were the 330 meets the TQ3 above portneuf sur mer.  Right where the 330 ends we did a quick off trail to the other piece of the TQ3 avoiding running to the coast.  Into the Econolodge in Forestville for the night.

    Mar 2

Original plan scrapped over drinks the night before, no ride to Sept Iles.  Boys wanted to go back to Mt Valin.  Back we go the way we came back to to a little more riding on the mountain.  Late lunch at the Chappel then most of the way back the 93 to the Debut of the 330.  Traveled east on it, another great trail. Stayed the second night in Forestville.

    Mar 3

Sunny warm day, took our riding back to Baie Comeau for the afternoon ferry.  We were starting to see some patches starting to bare up.  It was easy to tell the end was near. Loaded on the 5:00pm boat and back to Matane and the truck.

    A few pictures to share.

Awesome. Glad you were able to get the trip in, with good conditions.👍💪

  8. I am glad the original poster was able to make arrangements. My best one was in Houlton, Maine 1990. Brand new Ski Doo (GLX?) It was a one up touring with the MX 462 motor I believe. Had a steering component fail in the parking lot at Pizza Hut. A very knowledgeable gal answered the phone at the SkiDoo shop. She delivered the part and we repaired it. Not much later that afternoon, the motor quit. We towed back to the parking lot at Pizza Hut and made the call. (No Cell Phones) Dealer came and got the sled. The guys got directions to get to the shop by trail, and I was to ride double back to Shin Pond. Hours passed, and darkness fell. I was standing under the Ski Doo sign holding my helmet. The owner's son asked what my plan was. I said I would have to wait. I had no way to communicate with my friends. He offered me his Nineteen Eighty something F-150. I waited until my friends showed up, then drove to Shin Pond. The next morning I called the shop a little after 0800 to inquire what they thought the time frame would be. They advised it would be ready when I got there. We loaded one sled into the truck and drove over. I filled the truck with gas and left a 12 pack on the seat. I offered to pay the son cash also. He was more than happy with what I had done. Great Family business, and great people. That kid did not know me, and gave me his truck. Not sure that would happen today, even in that area. I don't recall what was wrong with the sled, it might have been a piston. It was heat related. That sled had no vents at all in the hood. They were able to work on it the afternoon I brought it in. I traded it for a 1991 Mach 1 after that season.

Zero miles for me also. I drained the stabilized fuel that I filled it with in March 2023  out of it Tuesday. I will burn that in my zero turn mower in a few weeks. Kudos to those that are out on the trail now. 👍💪 Best of luck! I came back to the truck in mud and gravel last March. That sled is still not completely clean. Hopefully 2025 is better.

I did not get out once. Disappointed, but no regrets. There are certainly worse things in life that could happen. I will register my sled for 2025 on July 1 , and buy my Quebec and New Brunswick Trail Passes as soon as they are available like I usually do, and look forward to next year.
