Signfan got a reaction from MrGutz in Berthier/St-Zenon photo ride report 25/02/24
Great report Alain. We rode a loop around Saint Donat last Wednesday and then a loop from Saint Come up to Pouvoire Coin Lavigne and back on Thursday. The odd tough stretch, but overall, I'd call 95% of the riding mid-season conditions. Maybe not as much base as the area is used to, but very good riding still. Here's hoping the weatherman isn't correct.

Thanks,
I got a reply back that 90% of the white trail is still closed. So on to plan B I guess.

Worst case you run down the highway. Ideal no. But its a short jaunt. I wouldn't change your plans over it.

Signfan got a reaction from P Hardy in Lepine Road
Isn't this always the debate. I've gone both ways. Am finding with my significant other I book ahead. Ensure we get a good place she will like and the miles are usually less.
With the guys I still wing it. It's went both ways. Our season finale last year we set out from St Raymond to Tadoussac. Had a big 500 plus km day and didn't get off the ferrry till 8:00. Never dreamed that half the town closes for the winter. Ended up in the youth hostile. It worked, but was definitely not the plan. Next day worked out better. Arrived in Saguenay at the Delta by 4 pm. Was going to stay there and then made the decision in the parking lot to find another hotel further south. The trails around town were brutal (bare ground) with everything out of town still very decent and we wanted to ride another 100 km loop that night. Staying at the Delta would have meant having to beat the pavement 3 times vs 1. So we got another hotel south of there, got our evening ride in after supper and our carbides thanks us for it. There's no good answer. I think if I was going anywhere with snow right now I'd side for reservations. I bet the outfitters that are in the snowbelt are packed full with so many areas still not being rideable. Completely agree hockey tournaments in the mid sized towns can really mess things up.

It's an off road uncontrolled environment. Simple as that. Trees fall in the woods every day.

Groomer from the Manawan club appears to be looking after that stretch right now. Maybe you're in luck.

We were into Manawan for gas last winter. No real issues. The west trail is better but both work. The town really was looking better compared to past years. New community center under construction and a lot of the houses had new siding.

Why not head south to fer a cheval or pouvoire des 100 lacs and miss Parent altogether? If you stay at pouvoire des 100 lacs then youre only 450 km to St Raymond the next day. It's a more southern route, but still great trails. Arguably better.

If your heart is set on seeing parent and TQ83 I'd look at Barrage Gouin. Windigo is a really big day from Val D'or. And you're in a very remote area. There's no wiggle room in your plans if something goes amiss.

Signfan got a reaction from BOBLER in Clubs and FCMQ?
One of these may have made this lawsuit go in a completely different direction. It's an offroad environment. Not an engineered corridor. The club does not own that land. Do they have the right to remove the stump in question? Not a nice situation for anyone involved.

It's all when you go. We rode perfect table top smooth trails from Tadoussac all the way to la Chapelle and then down the mountain past the ski resort last spring. Was third week of March and on a Wednesday. At least you're riding. Have a great trip.
