vt_bluyamaha54 reacted to snowmaster2112 in Roll of the Dice
We too rolled the dice on where to do our Christmas ride. Had plans for months to go to St Zenon but bailed on that after last weeks deluge. The only thing that looked good to me was Lebel-Sur-quevillon and north east towards Chibougamau. Hey when you plan on driving 7 1/2 hrs what’s another 4 tacked on to get optimal riding. Pulled into motel du Lac at 5:30 last evening to find we were the only ones at the hotel. Took a quick 40 mile rip to check out conditions. They were damn near perfect. Awoke this a.m. to find the trail going south to Senneterre freshly groomed. Well we were not planning on south but blistered down 20 miles or so and back tracked. Headed off on the 93 towards Chapais aroundn10 a.m.
The area up here was on of the few that got no rain, only more snow. It was a beautiful mostly blue sky day. The 93 near Quevillon was groomed awhile back and had about 6 inches of fresh powder. Rode to Desmairsville first and hung out awhile. Next stop was Waswanapi where we hung for awhile too. Then to the Chapais clubhouse for nice comfort food. Staying in Chapais tonight and heading to Chibougamau/Mistissinni tomorrow. 240+ miles today and never saw another sled. Not on the trail, not at intersections, not at the depanneaurs, NOWHERE. 150+ miles of that was groomed 3-4 days ago (with no tracks) and had anywhere from 2-8” on top of that. GPS moving average was 40.2 MPH for the day. Pretty much it was just an epic day of riding.
Here are some pics from today:

Looking very promising. Eight out of thirteen clubs in the Bas St Laurant region giving a green light, meaning groomed, signed and up and running. A few may be waiting for after Christmas.
Chaudiere region pretty much in full riding mode, giving another option, and one that is a closer drive.

There seems to be some advertising that is no longer here. I would suggest not visiting the old supporters unless they purchase advertising, certainly support the ones who support us. Also everyone’s name should be green I believe most of us can find the $25 somewhere, maybe in the couch cushions. Let’s keep the lights on we have the best Quebec site there is and it cost $.

We went for a short day ride today in the Chaudierre. Was pleased to see a new bridge installed over the river at the Armstrong club house. The club house was open and the conditions were very much preseason here, but hey, we were riding😁
Happy Trails

While it is Thanksgiving in the US.
Here it is just another day. Well not quite. Went today to view progress on the new rig. It is in final assembly and next time back to Levi will be for hands on training and delivery.

She is coming along. It takes quite a bit to fabricate all that from nothing. Not that much to see but the tank and pump are mounted and they are working away. Once all fabbed up it gets taken apart for the paint job. Two weeks just to paint everything.Gonna go back in 4 weeks to check on it further along. Very impressive factory quite incredible the hardware there.
Pics.

vt_bluyamaha54 reacted to RoadRunner in KM 31 Today
Hello all, It’s that time of year again! We will be there this Thursday for a good long visit. Looks to be some of the best conditions in years. Excited to try the Backcountry 850 that we stretched to 154, and a 900 turbo renegade enduro that I left mostly stock. Just picked up the sleds this morning😁
I will post up what we find for conditions when we get there. Think snow!

while creating the card online, double sided was an option for about the same price as two separate cards, so i got the double sided, 1000 of them. I'll mail some to a few key distributors who can further pass them on to other QR members to hand out, just PM me...

vt_bluyamaha54 reacted to iceman in Question about Balbuzard
A man’s got to know his limitations.
After the fire and loss of Forsythe certainly its a whole new ballgame. That said its not a trail to be taken lightly and must be respected as you are truly alone out there. It’s not a trail to go ride in a storm and if you ride and don’t check things like the weather before you head out then you are not so smart. Also after a storm while breaking trail may be fun for a while, that is not the trail to do it on with the limited gas stops. The forest is growing back but many parts are still like a moonscape and finding the trail after a dump of snow can be quite challenging.
83 headed out to Sebeterre is a trail to ride mid to late season not early. But do whatever you want.
Been there done that and even got the t-shirt. Take it for what it is worth.

vt_bluyamaha54 reacted to NHTOM in 2018-2019 Shawinigan Snow Reports
About 15 years ago the Mauricie Club groomed a little too early. The groomer broke thru the 1st big swamp heading out from Drakkar(Safari then) toward 351. The hole that it left behind was so massive it had police tape around it for several years. I have no idea how they got the groomer out as it was a couple of miles from a road. Cold weather is more valuable then snow at this point.

Left Sagueneenne same times as few other groups, probably racing against the competing hordes from the Delta hotel also heading to Mt Valin.
Trails were great up to Onichiway, further north the better the trail conditions with the higher elevations and lower temperatures.
Onichiway was not very busy, only 3-4 sled wait at the gas pump. so gas and a sandwich and off to KM31 for gas. As usually, Mont Valins trails were beat up, not as whooped as it can get, but just not fun for 20 miles miles. We survived and once on the Pelchat trail it was a fast run to Escoumins, 40 miles of full speed super grin inspiring highway into Pelchat Complex was a needed finish after the Valin bumps.
Saw my first Lynx ever today, on the lower 3rd of the Pelchat trail, a big fluffy one trotted across the trail 75-100 yards in front of me with a stealthy trot. I saw tall whisky tufts of hair above its ears, and it’s long hind legs, so I’m pretty sure it was not a Bobcat. In hindsight I should have stopped and took pictures of it’s foot prints.
Working our way south today, Target is Richilieu
More pictures tonight
