I know I've always felt a little guilty emailing my information to Groomer because I knew all the other steps he and the Albertville club would have to complete to get my pass to me. Yes, I was supporting their small club but someone still had to fill out the form, deal with FMCQ, fill out the Canada Post forms, etc., etc.
Volunteers everywhere have enough to do so if the burden of trail permits can be eased let's embrace the change!

There is nothing better then finding a group to ride with that is compatible.  The only thing better is having at least one or two young fellars to help pull on the ski....just after someone says "What could possibly go wrong?"

Lack of workers is probably not a rumour but a reality. Tremblant area was suffering the same fate all this past summer and many establishments were having trouble finding workers. It got so bad the local Mac Donald’s cut their opening hours several times due to lack of staff. My neighbour who works at a hotel chain in Tremblant village said they were paying $21 and Change for basic kitchen help to attract workers and a friend of mine with a very nice summer restaurant lost his head chief and ended up closed for the season because he could not find a suitable replacement.

It's probably worthwhile considering that Ontario, whose trail network and membership numbers are quite similar to Québec, have sold their trail passes exclusively online for about five years now.  Anyway, at this point in time, our kitchen table would normally our be covered in the Club paperwork that our secretary had gathered up by travelling all over the country (at his own expence, I might add).  My wife (the club treasurer) would be going out of her mind counting and recounting upwards of sixty grand in small bills (while trying to calculate the applicable taxes) and I'd be trying to input the data from 400 poorly written pass slips filled out in gas bars, dealerships and dépanneurs.  Instead, this year we've simply received semi-weekly emails detailing just how much money was directly deposited into our bank account (with taxes already calculated), and I have access to a database where the info has already been entered.  And ... to top it off ... our club is 27 members to the good over last year.  If we had a bottle of champagne ... we'd pop it!  I guess Molson's Ex will do ...

Was able to get out on Saturday 12/7/2019 for a 1st ride.  Was able to get in 140 miles.  Still need some more snow.

Headed west on 25 to 580, 580 after ST. Robert was in good shape.  Made it out to ST Ludger before turning back.   Then headed back up 25, went to the local trail that connects 25 to 535 but it wasn't opened up yet.  25 was good till St Martin then thin and ruff after that.

Headed back to the St Theophile club house, then up 75 hoping to make it to 535, 545 back to 75 to finish the day.   Found St Theophile section of 75 to be near perfect, then after crossing the river the St Come section was ruff.  Lots of refrozen water issues.  After the club house it was much better going, stop and fueled up and then continued north on 75.  The section from the gas station to the short road section was freshly groomed and in great shape.  Had to turn back when I found the gate closed at the turn off at the end of the road section. Turn back and tried to take the local trail south of the club house out to 545 but found that to have just been broken open by the groomer without the drag,  Still lots of water issues and didn't feel like getting muddy,
All in all a good 1st ride.

Looking forward to the next ride, think snow

You content to ride with any 55-70 year old grumpy old men or you looking for a 32-52 year old female, has her own sled, can change her own belt on side of the trail and always has a positive attitude?
lf it’s the first will likely find some great guys here, if it’s the latter, get in line, about 10 guys ahead of you😀

the scouting crew is cranking on the miles, yesterday they were over in Onatchaway, reports were that while in the Onatchaway park there is heavy logging and plowed  and “sanded” roads again this year, the trail to Onatchaway is good and good snow cover everywhere,
Today the scouts went East, stopped at the club house in Escoumin and as of mid afternoon were in Forestville. More reports from them tonight.  They did say the shortcut trail off 93 , just north of Sacre Coure over to the Escoumin club house is plowed and sanded currently☹️.
As I mentioned earlier, the next reinforcements will be in Valin tomorrow afternoon.
Loading the 900 Expedition this morning  and as the back up, my last years 900T enduro that has had a few summer modifications . Really anxious to give this a whirl too.

Enjoying both backcountry riding and trail riding we are always searching for the best cross over.  So for the enduro, we added the radiator cooling, some front reservoir shocks, and extended the R motion skid to 146 and put the 1.6 ice ripper track on it.  The extension to the r motion rails seems very robust , we did not extend the tunnel but did tilt the rear flap back a few more degrees.  This hopefully will come close to being a “4 stroke Backcountry “ 😀.  LOL.
    Valin, here we come!
We will keep you updated on the” Weapon”. Trailblazer!

With the summer version Game of Thrones well over and in the history books it is time for the, “Winter Edition” to begin😊.

We have a scouting crew that arrived at the KM 31 Sunday night and are reporting, as many others have, of good snow conditions for our Season opener. Not epic snow, but good snow for Dec 3!

With 2 already at base camp and 5 more headed in Thursday, the games begin on Friday!

We should hear back from our scouts on what roads are plowed this year and which ones are not, than our trips will begin.  As I had mentioned earlier, we have a bunch of the new 850 and 900 T versions of the new Skidoo expeditions to test. One of the scouts yesterday confirmed what the spring riders had said. His comment this morning was “The 850 expedition is a Weapon, he is very impressed”. They logged their first 160 mile ride yesterday.  More to come!

Hello from over here in Maine, just bit further North than MIke rider, we have gotten a light covering of snow here.

Many of us are getting ready for our annual run to Valin in early December to get these new sleds broke in.  The new expedition was popular in our group this year.  We counted 4 , 900 Turbos, and 8 , 850 extremes on the spring order checks for this winter.  I was able to pick up my 900 T last week and have got it outifitted for our rides planned in Valin next week.

Like all of you, We are very excited to hit the snow and start a new season.  Conditions up in Valin are looking good for our debut😊

I’m familiar with the Linq system but did not compare interior cubic space between the two.  I’m thinking most if not all of my emergency gear will fit into the Powder Keg top box & always remain on the sled.
No tuning or mods will be done.  I’m a stock guy who values reliability over peak performance.  There’s plenty of HP with that triple 998 Turbo!
