  1. Started the last run of the season in Val dor at forestel. Truck and trailers everywhere. Took a cab to La prospecteur micro brew. That place is awesome. Some of the best food in town I’d say. Next day headed to Parent. 83 east was legendary. Not a bump in site. Never been up here before. Clova is an interesting place. Night 2 was in hotel central in parent. As advertised. Clean and warm but that’s all.

    More to come.

  2. A quick trip report…

We started in notre dame du nord Saturday morning. Stayed at motel coutu - decent spot with a surprisingly busy bar. Saturday made it to Amos via R-N and La Sarre. Trails were overall great - few rocks poking through here and there but nothing to worry about. Lots of traffic on trails but it was a Saturday

In Amos stayed at the Atmosphere which was great. Got food delivery from Joccivano. One sled wouldn’t start in the morning but found a boost quickly (thanks!) - par for the course when -27C.

Day two was to Matagami; trails were great and basically no traffic. Ate lunch at the gas station then on to Lebel sur Q and motel du lac. Trails were awesome all day with no bumps and decent snow (less than normal though). Bar/pizzeria in town was the only place to eat and had to walk there (7 mins). Good selection of bar items and decent food. Brought the sled battery in this time so no issues starting.

The last day we head back to the truck in NDN via Val Dor. Trails were great for the most part there is a few sections of rough trail near La Force and some sections were more snow is needed.

Overall great trip and QC never disappoints!

  3. No I didn’t use the A102Q. We drove through (to La bannik, then we sledded down to temiscaming and then back to La bannik, then northward).

we did meet some folks who parked in new liskard and rode the lake over to QC (unmarked/unopened trail at the time).

It looks like one section of A102Q is still not open at the end but ya can try the guys on Ontarioconditions to see if they know more!

Was wondering about that? Seems intermittent.  Gremlins?

I am no expert but what I found is when you upload the picture there is a box that says insert. If you click that, the picture shows up as a link. If you leave the picture just as uploaded it will show up as a image without the link and I think it defaults to the end of the post.

    just my experience so far!

nice report and pictures by the way!

Mmm... "West is Best" And so are La Bannik's cheeeesyyyy-bunnnnnns...

    Thanks,

Where do I get these cheesy buns at La bannik? Special request? Or maybe only during dine in service?

my only two trip regrets: not finding these buns and not getting some sugar pie!

well always wish I sledded more too!

What where they doing for supper at the Forestel, room service ???? My favorite place to stay

    Thanks

    Zrtkat

They were doing room service for supper and breakfast at forestel. Food was good but room service did take a while. To be expected I guess!

did not ask about lunch though.

  7. Thought we would have some more reply’s here.

anyway we got back yesterday. Overall summary was conditions and accommodations were great.

some more details for those interested.

We rode temiskaming qc to ville Marie to Val dor then to r-n then back down to ville Marie. Trails were great. Some early season rocks/alders/sticks (actually a number of them) but no issues. More snow north of ville Marie so I would recommend staying in R-n or heading north if you stay anywhere south of there.

we stayed at La bannik, and forestel (and north bay on the drive up). Accommodations were great as was the food and standard awesome QC hospitality. La Bannik is one of the best lodges to stay with great hosts, top notch food, nice accommodations, and lots to do.

was real cold but to be expected. We didn’t see many sleds out on the trails (I guess too cold) but there were 20-30 at forestel we saw.

would not hesitate to head up if you were thinking of it.
