Welcome to Quebecrider Hossenda!!

Likely the Universal in RDL is the safest place to start and leave your truck.

To my knowledge the only XXX nightlife left in the Gaspesie is in Matane. Someone else chime in if there is any other spots open.

Hard to recommend the perfect route, maybe the first time go around the whole thing along the coast, very scenic.

Don't short change yourself with time, five days would give a good tour of the outside and maybe one of the interior trails.

I bet you will come back again.

Hope this is some help.

I think I have a post on here somewhere that will tell you how to keep that Escalade safe.

I think what smclelan was trying to say is that the Universal is the safest place in RDL. Staying at smaller places in small towns is the safest way to go. Places like Montmagny and RDL are large cities and very theft friendly, but if you're careful, you can stay anywhere...

Thanks guys for the info so far ..im sure i'll have more questions to follow

We've been going to the ft kent/ Madawasaka Area for 11yrs in a row now its time to try the Gaspe

Some of the posted pics on this site are amazing , im kicking my self for not trying this trip sooner

Is it a law to have a rear view mirror on your sled??

How much for that ticket?

It seems to be Groomer is the man up north, Great trail info great line of communication to riders

Those are the things that make a trip great thanks,, I can't wait for snow to fly

bye the way the "bling bling "escalade is not mine buddies work truck,

Have never been called out on not having a rear view...have been stopped to check reg many times...

We always cover VIN and pull relays and put a NY forget about chain & lock around/through wheel & front suspension, Kryptonite makes these. They will go path of lease resistance when it comes to theft, we have never had a problem.

Hossenda

Here is a cut and paste of the regulations and under mandatory equipment #4 is the mirror you are referring to. IMHO you should not be asking how much the fine is rather go out and buy a mirror for your sled. I have had my paperwork and sled checked many times in Quebec and it has been my experience that if you show the officers the respect they are due you will have a very enjoyable trip and they have even been known to overlook some minor infractions. Haven't they Steven!!! LOL Yes Groomer is the man if you need any info or help he can be a great wealth of information and he sells trail permits to boot.

Hmmm? Just because I forgot all my paper work home...would that be what you are referring to Andyman? LOL BTW I showed them 100% respect even before I realized I didn't have it and the gave me a break :good:

Hossenda I always have liked the Quality Inn in Matane, good resturant, bar, and snowmobile friendly. Gas, beer, & stores all very close. The Riotel is also very good on the other side of town if you want something fancier, it also has all the ammenities close by sled.

And of course there would not have been a chance you were a couple of km over the limit when they put the radar gun on you!!! LOL

My first trip around the Gaspe was in 2000. My last trip around was in 09. Montmagny is a good starting point. The Universal in RDL is also great 125 miles by the trail to there. Bring your swim suit and slippers. I think my favorite place is the Hotel Rimouski. There is also a girlie place in Rimouski not far from the Hotel. Hotels get smaller the further east you go. I'd avoid the one at Cross Point if possible. We called Patsy in Chandler for trail conditions. Sorry I don't have more specifics. In 08 we rode from Chandler to RDL in one day! 500 miles. Next day we rode from there to Morrisville Vermont another 500 miles! Over the years it seems as though the grooming is becoming more spotty but I still enjoyed every trip even running in dirt and in the rain it was always a great adventure.

Gaspe is a great trip

If you start in RDL I would recommend Hotel Universel - www.hoteluniverselrdl.com

Nice hotel, good restaurant on site and secure locked parking for truck and trailers. Good night life in RDL also

From RDL you have a few different options on routes and clockwise or counter direction. I would defiantly recommend the 2 interior trails 595 and 597 along with 5 on the north shore Mt Saint Pierre. Snow can be skinny at times on the south east side so a caution in that area if tight on time I would give a thought to skipping this area. (New Richmond to Chandler)

Perce is a great site to see, I enjoy stopping for food but would look to Gaspe for accommodations.

My favorite place to stay is Relas Chic-Chocs. www.villagegrandenaturechic-chocs.com

Great view of the Mountains in the Parc Log cabins with fireplaces and hot tubes.

Mantane is also a great place to stop, good night life and restaurants. Hotel Riotel is a good choice, located directly on the river, with an outdoor spa.

Additional link that may be of some assistance:

Hope this helps

Also, I wear a mirror on my wrist and have never had an issue. Been riding in QC for 10 years, just have paper work and permit.

welcome to QR hossenda

i to have road tons of miles in northern maine 90% of my quebec trips start from fort kent instead of driving all the way to rdl just leave your rig behing irving or northern door motel they dont mind at all and its very very safe hell i left the keys in my truck 4 two weeks by mistake with no probs

from there you could just cross the bridge over to nb but you will nead a pass its exatley 100 miles to rdl and trail 85 is one of my fav trails

or you could skip nb by going down the rr bed to allagash to escort where you pass to quebec eather way there both great

trust me after riding in quebec well you wont want to ride anywhere else

pm me if you nead any help planing your trip

ride safe eric
