Trailblazer
I know exactly where you are, if you looked in the opposite direction the view would be breath taking!! Would be a good location for a QR Winter Gathering!! And breathe taking it is .....he's adjusting his camera not what you think Roger that for QR Gathering location Bingo! I was just telling JG when we where at the clubhouse, the Gaspe in March would be the best Winter Gathereing spot! Especially when its light till 7pm. Maybe thats the spot Recommended here Mccaffrey it"s in the Chic Chocs in Cap Chat . Village Grande Nature Chic Chocs .. Nice place , the problem is there's no backing out of that place they charge you. It's in Saint-Octave-de-Metis between Cap Chat and Saint-Anne-des-Monts...........no groomed trail from the 5 to there but plenty of pathes leading to it. That is the picture in the other direction I was taking about! I thought he was just excited about the view!! I have been into there a couple times it was groomed. Maybe they didn't have an agreement with the club this year.
doo4adoo
Apparently its new owners this year. Was there 2 winters a go and its a great place. Trail at that time was decent as well. I had to call the Gaspe info for the number this winter and that's what they said. I lost my deposit a few weeks ago as I couldn't make it during that storm. However they said if I come within a year they will apply it to my next stay. So I'm ok with that especially if there is a gathering next spring. These are small outfits not large chains that can afford dropped reservations. Was going to try the Gaspe this weekend but going to Abitibi instead, closer drive, report to follow. smclelan
I have stayed there a few times, good food, and a great little bar. I stayed in one of the cabins a year ago in the summer while in the Gaspesie hiking, they are very nice.
towing
We slept there the on the 2 march this winter, we had reserved a Scandinavian chalet with a wood stove inside that was absolutely outstanding. The view on the ChicChocs there is second to none... On the down side, I don't know if it is a timing question but the Pierre the manager that received us looks very frustrated telling us we where very lucky to be charge only $160 for the chalet (even all seems ok 2 days before when I reserved with my credit card) and it would not be like that if the syndic would be settled??? we were supposed to talk more about that after supper but by chance we met some friends from Beauce area and spend all evening in chatting with them and did not know the syndic story. Our friends had not reserved before and just get there to get a room and were rudely treated, It seems Pierre just want our money and not more he told us so much time that the tips was not included that it was ridiculous... This said, it may be a timing question with their syndic problems because when we had a supper there in 2011 , it was the same Pierre that received us and told us about St-Octave de l'avenir history four an hour maybe and all was fine at that time. As for the rates for their chalet, I realize that on the french version of their site the advertise rate is $160 and on the english version is $240...a bit weird... http://www.villagegrandenaturechic-chocs.com/chalets-scandinaves/ http://www.villagegrandenaturechic-chocs.com/scandinavian-cottages/?lang=en As for the trail to go there, yes it was groomed when we went there... just too much snow since I guess!!!
