The time has come for all of us , in concert with outfitters , hotels, dealerships, Bombardier, clubs, and private land owners, and FCMQ, to be proactive, and require everyone to ...Take The Pledge....with Bombardier ...as a trail pass requirement...mandatory sled stickers...no pledge sticker...no gas....spelled out plain and clear ...registration revocation and fines...sled seizure...signs at hotels and stops like Repo, etc. If we don't get proactive...we all know where this is going...and reactive isn't a place we want to be...the weather is already numbering our days...we can control everything but the weather..AND TRAIL ACCESS. Ride off trail in designated areas..or be gone. If we aren't going to be proactive and sit around complaining... we will not have much of a voice when the powers to be do sit down...and we will not like the conversation on that day. We all have a lot at stake here...this is our recreation...but for many it's their livelihood...we have 3300 members here alone...it's a good place to start...look how many stickers iceman was able to distribute playing around... we need to be on front of this now...before it's too late...and that day is coming if we do nothing...my 2 cents worth, happy trails, Bob.

A blueberry producer in Dolbeau-Mistassini has filed a complaint with the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) for the destruction of part of his land by snowmobilers. He estimates that a quarter of his production could be affected.
Producer Nicolas Perron, who is located in the Vauvert area, estimates that losses could be as high as $25,000.
This is not the first year that the producer has faced such a situation. However, this time he has decided to file a complaint with the SQ. He invites snowmobilers to be civic-minded.
"Whether it's blueberries, potatoes or anything else, it's unfortunate for farmers. In any case, I find it sad. Really, there. I hope that people will be more aware to be more respectful of other people's land."

Up to 25% of blueberry plants have been damaged, according to producer Nicolas Perron.

The president of the Dolbeau-Mistassini Snowmobile Club, Marie Bérubé, says she is exasperated by the lack of civic-mindedness of many, year after year.
If she believes that the offenders are people who do not have access rights to the trails, she fears that this type of situation discourages producers from offering rights of way on their land.

She invites people who witness mischief to report the offending snowmobilers to the police.
This owner, he gives us the privilege to circulate on his property, then we are careful, we put signs. We try to raise awareness as much as possible, and at the same time, it lights up my life. I say to myself that the day that he is going to decide that it is finished, well I this path, it is the 367, and that would be finished, she raised.
She fears that the snowmobilers who have ransacked the land will penalize those who respect the rules and ride on the marked trails.

If We could not pass, so we would lose a large part of the trail. And who would pay the price? It is the snowmobilers who pay, she added.
Nicolas Perron does not intend for the moment to withdraw his rights of way in the sector.

The hotel restaurant at the Sagueneenne a couple of weeks ago did not impress Sandi and I.  We think that the restaurant maybe under new ownership.  I think it is a separate entity from the hotel.  There were less choices on the menu and what we had was not as good as past years.
Here at the Universal, the main restaurant is closed for renovations as we all know but you can eat breakfast in the conference room and at night in the bar.  For the price of a meal here and at the Sagueneenne, there maybe better options in town.  Sandi and I have always ate at the hotel restaurants but the past few years we have been bringing some food that we can eat in our room for a change or going out once in awhile.
Another example is when the Delta at Lac St Jean brought in Boston Pizza to be the restaurant.  The Delta gave up a very nice restaurant they had that was nice French cuisine.  Oh I hope we don't see a Boston Pizza sign be installed on the Universal!
Maybe its a financing thing or staffing?  Whatever it is, the hotels are giving up some of their uniqueness.

Sad but it is big business up there. Sometimes the establishments are at least complacent. Small towns they know who the culprits are. Dirty dealerships that make the keys,
Once in st George a guy talked to the bartender,  a few calls and he was able to buy his sled back, obviously involvement by the bar.
Lock everything cable a tire to the frame , take every precaution shit bags everywhere!!!

We are not in RDL at this moment.  Sandi and I have reservations at the Universal starting Sunday night January 15th.  We haven't decided on whether we are going or if we are going to cancel.  There isn't much snow on the ground currently but there has been limited grooming going on.  A few trails are showing yellow and green but many are still red.
The forecast is for 30 cm of snow tomorrow and then below freezing temperatures for the next 10 days.  We are going to make a few phone calls Saturday and make our decision.

Road from Cabanon to Mekoos via Manawan today trails were very good most of the way. Cabanon thru SMDS was slot car fast and smooth. 33 north was a 6 or 7. No line at Repos, they have 2 pumps now. Trail 33 from Repos to 53 was a 10 except for the washout I hit going way to fast. It is exactly 30 miles west of Repos on trail 33. 53 South was a 9. Awesome day 175 miles.
