When we were many years younger, every trip was a one week saddlebag trip.  The truck would be left at Valcourt or Motel Bernieres in St Nicholas (Levis).  We would ride out to Rimouski or Matane and circle back.
On the north side of the St Lawrence we would ride out of St Raymond.  Does anybody remember Hotel de Collene?  I may have misspelt the name.  From there we would Tour du Lac St Jean.
Our other route was from St Agatha and saddlebag to Abitibi.
Many miles and many memories.  Now we are more content with day trips and being near the truck.  Maybe there is an overnight trip in our future still.

I would book the Copper Hotel in Murdochville if that is one of your planned stops. 
In 2020 we were a group of 4 doing the Gaspe.and winging hotels.
Called the Copper night before heading there and they were all booked . Had to change our route and ended up staying at LaCache in the motel units which are now gone.
Only way to book the Copper hotel is to call. Jack is the owner and speaks very good English.
 
 

I'm hoping it is good.  They are predicting a good dump of snow so it may be worth the trip.  We will decide tomorrow.
The free weekend is the 14th and 15th.  If we go, we will drive up the 15th so we will miss the free weekend but may see the aftermath.
Christmas to New Years was warm.  The forecast for RDL is below freezing every day so that is a step up in itself.

You likely know this is the free weekend coming up?
  Between the new snow and extra traffic on limited number of trails l’m speculating trails won’t be great until mid week next week when they have time to get everything groomed up from the weekend.
