I have to admit- For the season we have had this year so far- This site has been pretty slow. I was expecting this site to have loads of traffic by December-January. Maybe it's just quality and not quantity- For those that aren't aware there is a possiblity of a good (up to 30cm) 12" dump coming tomorrow. Another thing I noticed this year is the lack of Americans- Has the canadian dollar and fuel prices made you guys change your minds this year?- All I can say is you are missing out on some of the best riding available in Eastern North America.

I agree the traffic seems light.

Could it be based on the volume of people riding in quebec from the states.

We have made two trips so far and both times traffic seemed very light.

Strength of the Canadian Dollar and a weakening US economy could have a direct influence on this site?

Just my 2 cents. :nea:

I think part of the problem is the General Discussion vs. Regional forums. Its a lot easier to just look at Quebec all in one page for the latest discussions. Now you have to open both and look around each for something new of interest. Seems like folks arnt sure where to post their info........

Its also obvious that Americans are staying home. The motels we frequent in Q are dramatically slower this year than even last year; a year with little snow south and west of St.Raymond. And the GAS is unreal. Im spending over $100 per day per sled to ride. I need a hybrid!!! :yahoo:

Even home in Cent. NH we have had the best season in at least 5 yrs and there are about half as many sleds out. Not sure of all the reasons, but Im guessing high gas and 2 -3 yrs of no snow down here did it.

Unfortunately this year I have not been able to go to Quebec for a number of reasons...mainly due to cost. It is killing me not to ride up there. There is still hope though...but finances, injuries, family sports committments have prevented it to this point.

My wife just mentioned to me last night that she was surprised I have not planned a trip Nord yet when we were looking at some great pics posted here of Mt. Valins....she could sense my anquish.

I have not posted in awhile but do really enjoy the pics and stories of others riding :drinks:

I think the site is better like this Rob. Reminds me of the old days at HCS when you could actually acquire useful knowledge. I know it doesn't pay the bills when it's this slow but you're not in it for the money...........right. Some of the other sites are turning into dangerous place, literally for some of the members. This site is what I come to the internet for. Good info, GPS assets, good people and some great posts. It will grow on it's own and I think this is one of the most respectable joints around. All the good serious riders have found their way here while some of the spin off sites are spillin over with toxic content. $.02

This is a boutique site with fantastic info on Quebec and a good group of members that have similar experience. I enjoy posting here. The other site is a shopping mall. Lots of good stuff but a few too many kids strolling the aisles. With that said I still need to go to the mall sometimes to pick a few things up.

Traffic on this site is a little slow BECAUSE there is good riding right now. No need to search for snow like the past few years...

One more thing... I just posted a question here on a trip last night. I got more accurate info on QC than I could ever get on ANY other site. The answers were fast and great. I just hope it stays snowmobile related and does not drift off to a site talking about politics or a GM vs Chevy debate.

real riders are over here(just like the other one back in the day) Many of the guys over there tend to think they are real riders but still a few guys that really know there stuff. Give this site anotehr year and it will start to explode. i remember the old days with just a few threads (mostly about cats back then) and a ton of trip pictures and a bunch of speedo pictures taken at 100+ mph

a number of the posters on this thread have pretty well narrowed in on the reasons for "slow posting" on this fine new site. mucho costo for gas. exchange rate that dampened some of the allure that those of us old time riders took for granted when we got lots more loonies for our US dollar than we do now at parity. made trips to Quebec seem like a super bargain; great trails, nice people, and stupid reasonable cost ('member the winter when the rate was 1.55 cdn to 1 US?). and the fact that lot of guys in the US feel the chill in the economic climate that now has the US clutched firmly by the scrotum. means lots less US riders are opting for a trip to la belle province.

the guys that opine that the pretty universal good snow in quebec this year has many fewer of us seeking tidbits of info on where there may be enough snow to ride, have good points as well.

all in all, Rob, you have a bunch of factors that don't bode well for riding interest in Quebec this winter. this too shall pass.

this is a great site, populated by the faithful. it will grow and flourish!

Hey Captain!!

It is great!!!! I'm heading to the Gaspe next week! Although I must say, Tug Hill has been pretty good too!!

10 more years then I'll be retired, hope to make trips like Quebec then.

I want to have a nice little motor home and park it in peoples driveways and use there electric...pull a couple sleds behind it.
