Thanks neksledr!!! That base after a few warmup is pretty strong, just hope for some new stuff, march sun hit hard would need a couple march snow storm to keep the base growing
We will see, there a little mix of rain/ snow forecast for tomorroy but less than 1mm so not bad, for the rest the 14 day forecast going colder than what it was 2 days ago... I think i should look more by the window than the forecast report!!! loll more accurate for sure
You are welcome extreme600 , good comments always appreciated!

6 hours gets you to St-Zenon, Sainte-Anne-du Lac or Rivière-Matawin, plenty of snow in all of them..

We had one severe thaw this last Friday! At home near Joliette we had  heavy rain, 11C in the afternoon, water everywhere, lost about 2/3 of the snow we had... and next in the night and Saturday morning a big foot of new snow... Mother nature is weird !!!!
In sum we had finished with near the same snow to the ground we had before. But with all this water that not had time to retreat before being covered with a foot of new snow we had to expect few days to restore all the trail system especially in the south of the region, that's why after a little research and checks we opted for a start from St-Gabriel de Brandon to go north up to the reservoir Taureau dam. Here is the track of the day we did:

Sunday morning, sunny with -30C!  We had the whole four seasons in one weekend, we were back in winter I guess! After fighting with the frozen trailer (frozen padlock, coupler, chains, top cover) and getting to our drop point we did a late departure from St-Gabriel passed 10:30

    Beautifully freshly groomed trails

Some water holes here and there mostly frozen, here other traces of the thaw like this glacier

Further on the #23 trail the section maintained by the Club of St-Charles Mandeville was not grommed yet but ride very well. We met the dozer at grooming it when we returned at the end of the day ...

    We passed Réal Massé

And continued on the #23 north

The amount of new snow was less in the north but the trail conditions were good

A few water holes here and there like this one, in the worst we seen. Can be cross easily, not deep at all

    Otherwise very snowy scenery

We stopped to refuel and lunch at the Auberge Le Cabanon around 12:15

After we continued toward the taureau Dam on the #345 North

The club had done a good job in this sector there was not a single bump, a real magic carpet ride

Still have to be careful with the frozen water spots

And places that have been more flooded but no risk of breaking through the ice it's hard frozen back in this area

We dropped the #345 to switch toward the dam, a section of trail newly reopened this year

    The Taureau reservoir dam

The catwalk that was closed a few years ago was redone a little wider than before at 62"and the big difference they removed the cement stairs in front which was forcing us to turn short on the corner of the building, a real great improvement

Otherwise a nice place to revisit that have some charm

At this point, we took the #360 east to loop through the Mattawin River Bridge. again a carpet ...

The light vapour on the river who betrayed the freezing temperature even on the pic

Here the view across the bridge

Where we took another little break

Before continuing on the #345 to the south ...

here again top notch conditions with a little dazzling sun at some points

We stopped at this gang to see if they were needed any help with a tow and during this time a first dozer that started his run passed. Sympatic english peoples in this gang, maybe some boys on forum here?

Let's say they keep that grooming top notch there

We passed the Cabanon and continued on the #23 south by our morning path. They were also at grooming there

Here a small rear shot after passing it

The sun was falling down and the temperature too

We stopped to take a warming up break at Real Massé

And continued then towards the south. The section groomed by Mandeville had been did during the day and we cross the returning dozer. We finally been back to our starting point at St-Gabriel de Brandon around 6pm with 160 miles on the dreammeter.
In the end a very nice ride, with the intense cold the trail conditions were at their best they would be and this cold already helps to accelerate the reopening of trails further south but there is alot to do with fallen stake under the snow and rivers/ice bridge to check along the St-Laurence river sector. You can take a look here to check the last snowmobile clubs updates on theirs trails:

Great ride yesterday.  Very cold in the morning.  Left Delta at10 AM, took 83 east, all but 12 miles freshly groomed, to 383 split.  383 to the bridge just before Ferland has not been groomed since Friday nights snow but had been groomed just before melt down.  Trail was one sled wide with a foot of snow on both sides.  After bridge trail was again freshly groomed.  Had a great lunch in Ferland.  Got back to Delta.  Temp was -4F when we got in.  Right now it is -26F.  No black flies or mosquitoes this morning.

I can drive there in about 4 1/2 hours on good roads, with NEXUS  card border is almost a drive thru. Conditions should be good when I go back up, snow is expected on Sunday while I am enroute back up. Riding during the week there is very little traffic on trails. Usually leave for home on Friday. It's nice to be retired !

I'd be willing to bet it's because they are cheap fucking shitty Chinese trailer tires which in Ohio is what every new trailer manufactured in Elkhart , Indiana comes equipped with! Trump needs to step up to the plate and ban the importation of these flaming health hazards! Being the owner of 3 dual axle trailers I can honestly tell you that I've been dealing with this problem since  I bought my first trailer in 2003. Good luck finding an American made trailer tire, perhaps you had better luck with finding something manufactured in Canada! Fuck China!!,,

So Ginger & I got an early start on our last trip to paradise. The miles were passing by quickly & we were on the 20 east bound just before the Madrid exit when Ginger (she was driving) said "oh no we have a flat tire" next thing we heard a pop & now we have two flats on the driver side. She quickly slowed & pulled to shoulder which saved the wheels & fender from damage.
The first thing I do is call AAA which goes to CAA. A very nice English speaking representative tells me the trailer isn't covered but she can still send a rollback. Ok great, she even stays on the line in case she has to translate. Translation is not necessary as the rollback person speaks English & says the truck will be there in 30 minutes. So as were waiting soon there's a woman at the drivers side door asking if we need help. We respond we're OK there's a rollback on the way. She then informs us she's from a trailer dealership less than 3 miles away. Then we notice there's 2 guys with here already verifying the tire size. I have them write their information down & when the rollback shows up I tell the driver take us here. For sure it's not very far & we realize we have seen this place the numerous times we have driven on the 20. Once there the rollback driver says he doesn't want to tilt the bed & risk the trailer falling off because the rollback is almost too narrow for the trailer. No problem since the dealership has a large fork lift for unloading trailers. In my mind I need two tires but Ginger says four, so four it is. The workers roll out the Quebec hospitality & soon we're enjoying some fresh coffee & snacks. Next thing we know they tell us it's all done & ready to go. We pay the bill & pull around to hook up the trailer. It's then we realize they also washed the trailer!!!
The screen shot of Google maps shows a red pin & a blue dot. The red pin is where we stopped & the blue dot is the dealership.
I've been towing trailers since I was 18 & this is the first time I've had one flat let alone two!!!
So if you're on the 20 near Madrid & need service for your trailer I can highly recommend Remorque LeBlanc.

Hoping Krikri is feeling better soon. Make sure she is getting lots of rest. The pneumonia can be tough if you don't take the time to rest and not try to do too much.
    Sorry to hear.
Hang in there Alain and take good care of Krikri.

Would be nice if all these people realized just how much we all appreciate their efforts. Lot of dark, cold lonely nights spend grooming so the rest of us can have our fun.
Hats off to all you men and women that make it happen.

We got out for a quick 100 run and lunch before heading back to NY and everything was groomed to perfection!  We had the trails to ourselves for the first 50 miles. On the way back still perfect except for about 1 mile of trail 3.  It was a great way to end the weekend
